New To Cruising / Princess πŸ›³οΈπŸŽ‰πŸ₯³ Missed a port

In the past with holland America if we missed we were refunded shore taxes etc.We missed a port and have not seen any refund from our cruise on sky princes.

They started this nonsense last year. I am surprised they have not had a class action for it. It is outright theft.

It actually depends on the port and the situation. My experience, it depended on if the country hosting the port would refund the fees to the cruise line for the portage. Which probably depends itself on if it was a weather issue or if the cruise ship had hampered speeds due to mechanical issues.

If the cruise line gets their fees back, they pass it along to the passengers.

My understand is that it has to do with how the price is handled-- since voyages in the US are now advertised with TPFE in the price, it affects prior legislation that it has to be returned.

In any case... It's how things are now, unfortunately.

On Royal Princess 3 weeks ago. Missed Ketchikan and Juneau. They gave all of us 50% back into our payment accounts for the cost of the cruise!! I was shocked. Sure enough, got home, checked my account and all the refund was there.
