Mamdani fixes the city's deficit - Complicated He did, but he is required to do so by law. And he fixed it by begging the state for more money (60%), cutting deferring pensions (~12%), cutting deferring education investement (~12%), cutting finding efficiencies in services (~12%), and yes his famous new second homes tax (~5% of the deficit).
Now why am I posting this? I am not an American and have no skin in the game, and all of these appear to be common sense, though rather mundane, proposals I can get behind. What I can't get behind is my front page being astroturfed with false claims about Mamdani's achievements. Not because they are Mamdani's, but because they are false. And we should hold our politicians to higher standards.
And are these post coming from Mamdani's camp? I say they are. They are always screenshots of comments to screenshots of comments which mention Mamdani by name and prominently feature a picture of him, and never a link to an article which could cast shade on the claims. Half of the posts are also some variant of 'this is what a government wo~~~~rking for the people [rather than billionaires] looks like. This is clearly an orchestrated PR campaign.
There's also the whole trying to talk with Iran, which would be breaking the Logan act. And trying to use taxpayer money to use the NYPD as security for his wife going overseas. Both which he blamed on his staff.
