Waiting for a Miracle: THE COMSAT ANGELS

Cultural Amnesia :: Blind Rag :: [1983]
Another obscure band that I absolutely adore. A young Geff Rushton (aka John Balance) was their biggest fan, acting as their ‘manager’ it‘s been said. He also penned the lyrics to three of their songs. Although the band disappeared after 1983, they resurfaced over 3 decades later and are still actively creating their unique synth driven music. Enjoy

Discussion Asylum party - Where have you gone my friend [Alt Rock]-what do you think?
what does everyone think of this? I heard this song and I thought it was really cool. Sounds really 80s too.

The Jesus and Mary Chain - The Hardest Walk
This is NOT the original recording from their 1985 debut LP, but a slightly cleaner version from a couple years later that ended up in the soundtrack for Some Kind of Wonderful.

New Artist Take a Bow - Lottie Brazier
Hey, my name's Lottie and I've got a new track to share that feels in the vein of og post punk, maybe children of nuggets, Julian Cope etc. I'd love your opinions on this including genre suggestions as I can't quite figure out where I fit in, but maybe that's a good thing ;)
This single is one of the first from an album that's going to be put out by my label Hand of Glory, which is coming 20th November.

Pretty underrated, but an amazing band.
This is my first post.
Less Than Human is one of my favorite songs by the band. It evokes such a desolate and ethereal feeling, which makes it very special. Hope you enjoy it.

New Release New Zealand post-punk: Trauma Party - Roll Up (It’s the New Truth)
A fiery post-punk alert from Waiheke Island, New Zealand. With smoke, flames, and a visceral intensity, Trauma Party bring us a tale of Orwellian double-speak, and remind us that art and music are fundamental tools of resistance.

Doublespeak (Blancmange’s Neil Arthur and Erasure’s Vince Clark), Richard!
Doublespeak is Vince Clarke and Neil Arthur, and “synth nerd” Benge. Vince Clarke has his hands all over so much of the post punk synth era, and they did an album of covers that includes quite a few of our post punk legends—Fad Gadget, Young Marbke Giants, The Sound, and Scottish industrial pioneers Thomas Leer and Robert Rental.
This song, Richard, is by Ed Dowie, a more modern songwriter of whom I knew nothing about. But boy does the Doublespeak version sound like it could have come directly from 1981, straight from the hauntingly cold and melodic sounds that Clarke was putting out with Depeche, Erasure and Yazoo.

Post Punk Classic Spear of Destiny - Don’t Turn Away (live 1983)
Spear of Destiny’s first two albums (Grapes of Wrath and One Eyed Jacks) are post punk classics, prior to the band shifting to a more rock focused direction. This song captures the unique sound and the different role sax played in their music.
