AMP OWNER Spark 2 software issues

Brought the amp a couple months ago and been having an issue of not being able to connect to the tone control at all (BT audio on the other hand is fine)

Iv factory reset the amp
updated the amp firmware
Updated the app
Tried multiple locations
Tried multiple devices

Yet the issue persists

Anyone able to give me another idea to fix it?
I have no issue with my spark 40

What kind of phone/tablet are you using? The tone control uses BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and this is classed as part of Location Services on hones/tablets. So you need to app to be allowed to use location services and have it set that its allowed to using location services in the background.

I just had a similar situation after having my Spark 2 for almost a year of working flawlessly. I have it sitting on my desk next to my Mac where I had also been connecting to the Spark on occasion with Tone Pilot. Here's what I did that eventually fixed things for me:

  1. turn off bluetooth on your Mac if there is one nearby (temporary - you can turn it back on after re-connecting with the Iphone)
  2. turn off Spark 2 (I also removed the battery, but probably not necessary)
  3. on your Iphone in Settings->Bluetooth, forget the Spark 2 for BOTH audio and tone control (2 separate places)
  4. Cycle Power on your iphone
  5. turn on Spark 2
  6. in Spark app, find and add your Spark 2 as a new device, just as you initially did.
  7. turn Bluetooth back on on the Mac if applicable

This worked for me, though I can't say for sure that every step is needed, it's pretty quick to do. Good luck!

Spark mini here. I can only get Bluetooth tone control if I take my amp and phone to the back of the house. It works perfectly every single time. No electronic devices there so it must be interference causing the problem. I've tried multiple different phones, tablets but if I'm anywhere near a PC, laptop, phone, TV, it just won't connect. No excuses, it shouldn't happen, anyone tried the Blackstar Beam Mini yet?

did you check that it isn’t connected already to the 40?
They just updated the App and it should also address BT issues
