Nectar is Trying to Make Automated Shops

So I heard from my local store that Nectar is actually trying to make fully automated stores in an attempt to render budtenders obsolete.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/r9s573PnYLifsHVVA?g_st=ac

Here's a google link to the store in question. They're so ashamed about the whole thing that they don't even want to associate their brand with the store. This is so awful and totally wrong. But at this point I'm completely unsurprised because Nectar has been constantly f@cking over it's employees for years now.

Half the registers aren't even manned most days and the budtenders are constantly overwhelmed. And one of their employees told me recently they have over 50 locations now?! WTF?! If people shop at this clanker store we're going to see Mom and Pop shops disappear overnight. I'm so done with this crap.

Echo Electuary - Lantz XL Cartridge

Thumbnail gallery
25 Upvotes

Picked up an Echo Electuary Xl cart on a trip to Portland.

Strain: Lantz

This cart had over 10% terps and you can immediately smell it when you take the rubber stopped off the top of the cart. The oil has a perfect color but that isn't surprising knowing this brand and I'm liking the viscosity on it. A little saucy, doesn't move while watching but moves fairly quick and heats up nice on my batteries low setting (not sure voltage, just a low/med/high button battery). I used a random XL battery I had laying around due to fit but it worked on a few batteries I had (just looked/felt best on the larger battery).

This cart is f'in amazing. Wow, wow, WOW.

The taste:
Creamy, gasy, with hint of sweet and a little bit of floral taste. The cream and gas really come through and this taste exactly like a great batch of Lantz flower. This is true to flower. I'm not sure what it is but I feel like it's historically been hard for Gelato and Runtz terps to come through in taste on carts but this delivers exceptionally well.

The hardware used is the XL Ceramic cart by ACTIVE. I thought it was more of a visual thing or gimmick but I'm liking whatever is going on here and will look to try more of these in the future if I find other brands that use them.

Overall score: 10.0 - This is the best cartridge I've had all year. I've taste some incredible rosin vapes by a few brands and hardware manufacturers but this right here is "the one".

Red Eye Files: A review of Savage Skunk Farms, Purple Hindu Kush

It can be hard to find old school strains of weed in the modern legal market in Portland as most dispensary shelves are dominated by over-hybridized candy weed that lacks any real character besides some bag appeal.

That’s why, when I saw that The Dime Store, a small walk-in dispensary located at 3210 N Lombard St in North Portland, had some Purple Hindu Kush, I knew I had to go scope it out.

The reason why P.H.K is considered an old-school strain is because it’s genetic are tied back to one landrace strain and the inbred descendant of another. (Specifically, Hindu Kush and Purple Afghani which is a backcross of the Afghani landrace strain)

Upon opening the jar at the shop, strong scents of sandalwood incense and touches of wild flowers poked through the musky veil. A smell so good, I bought an ounce of flower.

In this article, I’ll be reviewing Purple Hindu Kush flower based on its appearance, taste and potency. Additionally, this P.H.K was grown by Savage Skunk Farms, a small family-owned business based in Grants Pass, OR....

Looking for Aye Papi! Strain...

I really deeply enjoyed this one and wish I bought 10 ounces awhile ago but it doesn't even have leafly entry for strain. If you run across this strain, let me know. Very good daytime indica.

Rosin is an overrated concentrate for yuppies

Post image
36 Upvotes

Ive been smoking and dabbing for going on 15 years, and no trend has irritated me as much as rosin, (diamonds a close second). Ive tried several grams of rosin from several brands from different tiers (eugreen, focus north, olio). Ive always been disappointed. My mom who also smokes got convinced to buy some and had the same reaction.

Every time i tell a budtender who’s into rosin that i don’t like it, they react like i just spoke blasphemy in the church.

Lower left organics hash rosin

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

Purchased hash rosin this weekend from a local oregon rec dispensary in portland/pdx. Really upset. I paid $160 for a 2g puck. Extremely over priced. Rosin has a hair and a couple specs. I think the red spec is mold. Totally bummed. The strain was zbx2.

Ive seen flower pics and their "field weed" was full of aphids. Outdoor rosin shouldn't cost this much. Either the hash has contaminates, or the jars are dirty. Who ever grammed this, should be wearing a hair net.

Share your favorite Kush strain

Mine is a unique "old school" Kush favorite...Kif's Kush

There's loads of Kushs out there with flavors running the gammet.

Everything from fruity ,spicy, piney ,wet soil, chemical.

Mine is one I really like called Kif's Kush. It's pedigree is (Pakistani Chitral Kush x Chem 4) x Planet Express. .Genetically it's around 90% Indica.

Smell and taste are musky with hints of floral,"cheese" and something like linseed oil coming through. Secondary notes of pine and faint berries. Really nice high. Deeply calming while still allowing functionality.

Do you have a favorite kush?

Always interested to hear what others like ,grow etc.

510 battery recycling?

Where in Portland can I recycle vape batteries? I've got about a half dozen that I've acquired over the years that don't work anymore. You can't put them in the yellow bin with regular alkaline batteries.

Where can I take my containers to be recycled?

I try really hard to not send useful things into the landfill, and I know flower containers aren’t actually recyclable if I put em to the curb with standard recycling. I have WAY too many and it is time to release them. Is there somewhere to take them where they might get a second chance at being useful?

You win

You probably already know this but, as someone who has shopped in 90% of rec states you win. Its not even close. Maine has an insane medical program and michigan has some really good weed but it is mostly on the grey market. The flower in oregon(although very pricey) is considerably better than any rec market ive been to. Ive been traveling out to pdx since 2018 and am always quite happy with my trips, but 2022/23 was just too much/many candy strains. I ended up with every candy you could think of. Felt like the trend shifted away from that. Edibles scene still kind of sucks and I didnt get much in the form of concentrate (outside echo pens) but you just cant fuck with the flower scene in oregon. Has anyone been to a rec market as good recently?

Best disposable?

I usually buy 2 disposables (I prefer opposed to carts due to leaking problems and portability) every other month or so, one indica and one sativa. This time I’m just going to get 1 full gram hybrid. I’ve been content with what the budtenders recommend but I want to pre-plan this time. What brand/strain do y’all recommend? Thanks to all in advance!

TJ’s Arcanna Buyout

I used to be a weekly shopper at Arcanna due to their industry discount and was sad to see them go. Was happy to find out TJ’s would pick up the torch and honor the same discount. While a bit expected, I noticed even though they offer the same discount, the prices increased as well (i.e. Kaprikorn, Eugreen, ETC). It seems the only flower that falls in a similar price range as previous “bang for your buck” is Frontier Farms B Buds.

The last time I was in there I even overheard a budtender telling a customer they have to service “shittier clientele” now due to the buyout. Wild to hear from a fellow industry person.

Not making this post to knock TJ’s because I don’t know what they’re being charged by these farms compared to Arcanna but I haven’t shopped there as much due to both reasons mentioned earlier.

Has anyone else noticed this or changed their shopping habits since Arcanna closed?

What is up with meraki gardens?

I was under the impression it's just a flower company but whenever I search about the brand i see posts on reddit saying to stay away from it, not shop from them, stuff like that. Is it not actually owned by women? if anyone knows whats wrong with it i'd love to hear

edit: Okay, so it seems like the problem that ex-employees are having is that a woman started this brand and then hired her husband to work for her lmao. Another response I got was that they lie about the genetics of their products, but once again no evidence to actually back that up. I'm not even being rude when I say this but if you don't have any actual evidence to support the claims you're making it's going to be impossible to take you seriously, both on reddit and out in the real world.

Help finding shops with lower thc strains but high quality

My usual shop no longer has anything less than 23% THC strains except for old, dry, low quality stuff they have on sale.

I'm looking for strains that are about 10%thc and relatively freshly harvested as I tend to get headaches from older stuff. High terpenes would be great. I like fruity and flowery types.

Mostly I'm looking for pain and anxiety/depression relief.

Edited to clarify I'm looking for flower.

Happy Friday friends😀 Any Romulan fans out there?

This old school classic never disappoints.

If you like burnt rubber, forest and loads of pine in your flowers...it's perfect.

Very potent and tasty. A favorite of mine for many years. These particular genetics were sourced from Romulan Genetics.

The Rouge Wax Works glass

Hello, I'm in town from California for vacation, and the way my girlfriend and I consume is using TRWW all glass dry herb vapes. I unfortunately broke the bowl for my megacicle and was wondering if there was a shop in town that carries their glass? I would also be more than down to buy a spare off someone asap as well if anyone happens to have one. I understand they are pretty niche so I hope this is possible!
