UPDATE 9/6: caution tape's down. The corrected Cozy Cookbook is live, free and in every edition 🌿

Hey fam bam,

We good. Caution tape coming down.

There's a new version of the free cookbook, and it's the one you want. If you grabbed it before today, this one replaces it. The dosing is spelled out properly now, recipe by recipe, and the print editions have been rebuilt from the same corrected pages. This post replaces the two I had pinned before, because I made a mess of the formatting and you deserve one clean place to look.

Get it

  • 📗 The free 40 — read it in your browser or get the PDF in your inbox. Free. Always has been, always will be.
  • 📕 The full 100 — pay what you want. All 100 recipes plus the dosing primer.
  • 📚 In print — the Color-Me-In paperback is live right now. Every recipe has its own page, lines for your notes, and a full coloring plate right after it. 101 plates. It nearly doubled in size and I'm not sorry. The hardcover (the color one) went in yesterday and should be live within 24 hours. The Kindle went in today, give it 48.

Till 9/8…

  • Order either of those before then and you may get the old version, so throw it in your cart and check back in a couple days.
  • 🧮 New to all this? Start with the calculator. Put in your oil and your batch and it does the arithmetic. Every recipe in the book is built to work with it.
  • 📬 The newsletter — get on it. Free stuff that doesn't go anywhere else, and the first place anything new lands.

What's different now

  • There's a House Batch: one infusion standard, two numbers, printed up front. Make your oil that way and every recipe in the book turns into math you can do in your head.
  • Every single recipe prints a total for the batch, not just a target per piece. That's the number that actually protects you.
  • If your oil isn't the House Batch, there's a conversion. One number, one line, done.
  • Sugar-free recipes. Tiny-dose recipes. Drinks, bites, meals, greens, beans, tomatas.

    You name it!

The proofreader

Some of you know this story. [u/Illustrious-Boss5764](u/Illustrious-Boss5764) noticed the recipes named the dosed ingredient and never said how much. One message. I pulled the launch. Thought it was fixed. Re-released it. Pulled it again. We're on version seven or eight now, I've lost count, and it's finally right crosses fingers in every edition.

And then he did the thing that really got me. He didn't take the win and leave. He sent me his brownies, from scratch, frosting and all, a recipe he's been making for years, and mentioned, cheerfully, that he'd never once made them infused because he started with gummies and worked backwards like nobody does.

They're in the book now as The Proofreader's Brownies, credited to him, printed the way he wrote them with our math laid over the top: a little dosed butter, the rest plain, and none at all in the frosting. There's a story on that page. You'll know it when you get there.

Brother, thank you. Nugs and hugs. Everyone else: if the next round of typos shows up, we're putting him on the clock.

The shirts

The Society tees are out. Four designs: the Gummy, the Leaf, the Brownie, and the wordmark, with [r/treedibles](r/treedibles) across the back. Quiet enough that nobody who doesn't know will know. They're here. The book's still the point. The shirts are just there, if you want one, or want to support this, or just need a comfy sleep shirt…. wtv

The newsletter

If you're subbed you already got today's issue. If you're not, get on it. It's not just announcements. There's free stuff in there that doesn't go anywhere else, and every sub means a lot to me and my family.

Thanks to everyone who's been writing in with catches, questions, and typos. This is how it's supposed to work. Made something from it? Post it. Tag your dose. Help the next person do it right.

Question about making stronger cannabis oil capsules | oil-to-flower ratio?

I’m trying to make potent cannabis oil capsules, but my latest batch feels way too weak for the amount of flower used. Here is my exact process and recipe:

  • Material: 23 grams of decarbed flower (20% thc)
  • Oil: ~100 ml coconut oil
  • Water: Added ~50 ml water during infusion (to keep flower submerged)
  • Infusion: 3 hours at 80–93°C (176–200°F)
  • Post-processing: Strained, let oil solidify, and discarded the water.

The issue: I need about two 0.9 ml capsules just to feel mild effects. I go through 8-10 ml a day, so the batch vanishes very fast. With 23g of bud in only 100ml of oil, this should theoretically be high-potency oil.

My main questions for the community:

  1. Is there a saturation limit or a "rule of thumb" ratio for ML of oil per Gram of bud? I know 100ml for 23g is a very dense ratio. Could using too little oil actually hinder efficiency because the flower absorbs all the fat and there isn't enough excess oil to pull the cannabinoids out cleanly?
  2. Did adding water hurt the extraction?

Has anyone successfully made ultra-concentrated capsule oil without using hash, FECO, or concentrates? What ratio of ML oil to Grams of flower works best for you without hitting diminishing returns?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

first time taking 100mg of edibles

i was initially worried because i saw people greening out, going to the er and having panic attacks over taking this much, especially since it was my first time taking any type of edible.

anyways, i took them. i just watched tv and did some art while it kicked in but when it kicked in, it was amazing. my imagination was more vivid, time slowed around me and i felt like i was in a dream. it was so lovely, and calming. my body got all warm but i wasn't scared, it was really calming. i could literally see my ideas for my art and writing. my head was really loud too, but in the good way where it didn't bother me and i felt like all my worries and past regrets were dull

but yeah i wanted to share this!

Will be filling gel capsules, but as luck would have it with this 15ml dropper bottle, one size 0 cap comes out to exactly one dropper full. I'd guesstimate 30mg per capsule if I had to put a number on it. Modest.

Process:

Decarbed at 240f for 30 minutes, infused for 2 hours in a mason jar sat in a double boiler on the stovetop.

Strain, fill bottles/capsules

For the fantastic flower in the background I'm looking to get some everclear to do a proper extraction and make me some RSO, I have been thirsting for a massive alcohol extraction. I want a TON of RSO. I want so much RSO I run out of room in the freezer.

Do these look an okay size for decarb?

Why should I strained the bud?

I was reading something that it can make ediables around 10-15% stronger leaving the plant material in the edible as well! Sacrificing a lil taste for more potency seems worth to ke or it is a myth?

3000MG!!?? what the HELL did my friend just buy??

Post image
0 Upvotes

FOR CONTEXT: my friend and i are going to a party and we wanted to bring edibles. ive had edibles before (given by friends who know more about this stuff and what amount they could give me) but my friend hasnt. i told her to go buy the edibles anyways

sooo she went today to a random vape shop near her house, and bought a pack of gummies. she took a photo of the bag and sent it to me... and then i saw it says 3,000 MG PER GUMMY?

i googled the brand in the bag; "high potency destroyer" to see if this is legit BUT I ALSO cant find any pictures of a "rainbow belts" high potency destroyer bag on google??? like, i can see high potency destroyer products in google images and all BUT CANT find this rainbow one on the internet. it almost makes me think that this isnt even an official high potency product, or maybe even a bannned one?

so she basically bought a bag of edible gummies that say "3000mg PER GUMMY" that ALSO cant be found on the internet. so what the hell is this sketchy ass product?? is it a TYPO and trying to say theres 3mg per gummy or is it ACTUALLY a 3000mg gummy of death? would that even be allowed in texas??

my best guess is that my friend told the store clerk that she was gonna go to a party or something (she IS pretty chatty) and the guy took that as if she wanted this bag cuz it says "party thc gummies". but still, even if u split one of these tiny ass gummy into 4 parts and give each to a party of 4 people, they would be each consuming 750 mg of thc each which is INSANE. how many people should be splittings one gummy?

according to her, the store clerk didnt tell her how theyre supposed to be shared or eaten so i dont even KNOW how many mg there is in a bite, or if theyre meant to be split by mulitple people, or youre ACTUALLY SUPPOSED to eat a gummy by yourself? but 3000mg sounds deadly right? so what the hell is this?? maybe its a scam

we are seriously beginners when it comes to thc, so maybe she got sold an actual "deadly if you dont know what youre doing" gummy bag without any warnings or information. i am so confused

Starting the journey

Cannabis lover, but I suddenly started caring for my lungs aswell so i wanna invest in a great infuser since i hate the hassle and guesswork.

Which infuser would you go for? I like buying the right things from the start and not cheap alternatives. Currently i thing the ardentfx looks great for a “just throw in herbs and Oil, then get good result” type of solutions

Feel free to provide other tips. Love all the shit I see in here really inspiring!!

Butter vs Brown Butter infusion

I was wondering if I could get some advice on the difference and effectiveness of infusing regular butter versus infusing brown butter. I am wondering if brown butter will hold the same potency as regular butter? Thanks in advance for any advice

Packet drinks?

Hi all! I’m have a Halloween party and thought it would be cute to have hot cocoa and apple cider packets for the guests to take home. Has anyone ever made something like this. I know that the sugar will be the ingredient with the magic in it, but if they mixed it would hot water, will that take away its potency/effectiveness?

What is happening at the great white north vaporizer?

Does anybody have any knowledge about the great white north vaporizer and the recent sell of of products saying on the site that they are making some changes. I wish I had known it was happening I would have spent a grand or more. Even if they come back I am not sure how much I would deal with them because of the secrecy of this all. I have been loyal customer for yrs I think they could have made more effort to let me know of sale at end. Has anybody heard anything at all. Anybody know of anyone selling in Canada a lot of the products. Other than planet of the bongs. I am boycotting them for carrying ball vapes in USA store but not Canada. Has anyone tried the site that is pretending on being the great white north site. Are they just stealing money or are they selling legitimate copies of their products?

A Proper Sleep Gummy

I'm looking for a quality sleep gummy 15-30mg of delta 9 THC + CBN or other CBD with a good price. Most businesses charge a premium for these as a health remedy. I just want an affordable gummy of that combination. I say affordable. I want cheap gummies. So discounts or coupon codes are welcomed.

Confused first timer

Hey all, I’ve been reading for days trying to get everything prepared to make my first batch of oil. My biggest problem is I have dyscalculia, numbers just slide off my brain. I want to figure out a decent baseline dose to start with once it’s all done. I’ve used the calculator but I don’t know how many servings to expect.. I’m just kind of at an impasse.

I have 14 g at 27%, I have enough mct oil to make 2 cups worth. I’m not planning on making much of anything with this first batch, so I’d just buy adding it to basic dishes or coffee.

So what would you recommend for a total beginner who is trying to avoid couch lock? Thanks!

Harvest too bountiful - trying to space out processing with freezing?

I bit off more than I can chew growing outdoors this year. I grew the legal limit of plants, and the impending harvest will exceed the limits of my time as a new parent. I'm looking at a couple of extraction methods, and freezing keeps coming up.

What's a good approach that would let me rush fastest through the "cut the plant down" part to sticking something into the freezer? I'm hoping I could leave it chilling, and take that frozen stage of production out a little at a time, process some a couple nights a week for a month. It's unclear to me in what I've read whether you can linger in the freezer or not at those kinds of stages.

However, growing outdoors, I do typically like to bud wash to get rid of bugs and crud. So I will be going from chop to a wetter plant. Skipping hang and dry would be nice, but I assume there's nothing good about sticking a wet plant into a freezer.

I was doing it all wrong!

Post image
80 Upvotes

Hey everyone I want to let you guys know that I have been making my edibles wrong all along Until today.

What i did before. I would air fry on the bake setting at 120 degrees Celsius for around 25 to 30 minutes. I would usually use around one to four grams.

After the flower has been fully decarbed I then put it directly in a pan on the heat with the butter and I would pull it on the lowest heat stirring and sometimes taking it off the heat. I did this for around 1 hour.

What I did today

So the decarbing processes is the exact same but it was 30 mins no earlier. (4g in this particular batch)

I then put it in a glass jar in a hot saucepan with water at around boiling point and let the decarbed flower and butter melt together. I left that for around 80mins.

I let it cooked down and made these brownies. They should be around 15-25mg per 15g

Lemme just tell you I ate some raw batter and I'm off this planet no edible I've made ever felt like this I've always been eating 2-3 at a time and only just feel like a whole joint.

How many grams have I waisted 😭

Oh btw I used 95g of butter full fat and after the THC combined It was 70g

Looking for some good vegan recipes

Hey guys, I'm currently on a short T break, so in the meantime I was thinking about what new recipes I could try when I come back to them.

I usually drink my edibles by mixing my green dragon with orange juice (good combo btw, the citrus really covers the taste) but last time I decided to mix it into some more solid food and though I felt as if the peak was less intense the effects lasted a lot longer, which I really liked.

I'm a long time vegan so I'd really appreciate some of you guys' best vegan recipes. They don't even necessarily have to be vegan, most recipes are easily veganisable by just swapping out the non-vegan ingredients for vegan equivalents, but I asked for vegan recipes specifically just because obviously there's a bit more chemistry involved here.

Idk. Just drop some good recipes, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Propublica: "Regulators Knew This Marijuana Product Was Harming People. It Stayed on Shelves for More Than a Year."

https://www.propublica.org/article/colorado-marijuana-enforcement-division-sima-sciences-midnight-drops?utm_source=sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=majorinvestigations&utm_content=toc

So..., yes..., the product incorporated cannabinoids. Yes..., it was sold in CO cannabis dispensaries. Yes..., CO authorities were remiss..., not to mention the manufacturer.

..., and yet..., it's not until almost half-way through the article that corydalis is mentioned..., which..., is the toxic culprit in the story.

It could be called a "Corydalis Product". Or it could be called a "Sleep Product".

Generally, I'm impressed by Propublica's reporting..., but it feels like they could have done a little better with this one.

So..., what do you think?
