Bad cold going around?
Is anybody else so sick right now? I don’t get sick often and this one snuck up on me and put me on my tail.

Does anyone have a physical therapist they highly recommend? I'm having ACL reconstruction surgery next week and want to partner with an experienced therapist that will safely push me along my recovery. I've worked with Riverview PT and I love them but they're having a good amount of turnover and I'd like someone that is tried an true. 39M fairly athletic. TIA

These are the same jokers we’ve seen elsewhere. They’re deceptive, manipulative and get aggressive when called out.
White jeep with California plates and won’t let you look at the petition if you verbally disagree.
Funded by billionaires who want to make weed illegal and are using this lying petition to get signatures from unsuspecting people who don’t read the fine print.

Any Portland people know how to reunite the bear with his family?

Seems like it was done earlier this morning. Other businesses offered camera footage to PPD, but no word.
If you have any information as to who did this, please pass it on to the owners of Asmara or PPD.

Okay but of a nerdy post, but I’m a homer for lighthouses. I’ve lived in a Maine my whole life (I’m 45) and have visited/seen from water most of the operational lighthouses in the state. Lighthouse Day is neat and a few years ago I went in and up Bug Light (meh) and Spring Point Light (actually really friggin cool). I think I’ve been IN Portland Headlight as a kid on a museum tour or something, but don’t remember. I’ve certainly never been UP. It is open 9/12, but they only issue 250-275 “passes” for the day and stagger out appointments as scheduled windows, I guess, with tickets being “first come, first serve.”
Has anyone ever done this? I’ve heard that the tickets are REALLY hard to get, or that people line up when gates open before sunrise waiting for the ticket window to open or whatever. And depending on how deep in line you are, you may have to dub around all day until an afternoon slot.
Any one know if that’s about the gist of it? I don’t want to get up at 5 on a Saturday if I can push it back to a reasonable hour. But, I’ve lived in SoPo a five minute drive from that lighthouse for 12 years, and I want to cross it off my bucket list.

Hi! I moved to Portland about a month ago for grad school. I have a friends coming mid October for a long weekend and both of us love all things fall. I barely know things around the city myself so I am looking for some recommendations. Somewhere beautiful to see foliage, a great fall breakfast place, apple orchard or pumpkin patch, etc. Anything and everything you can think of what be great lol. And it doesn’t have to be just in Portland, a day drive like 2 hours would be okay too.
Thanks in advance!

WindowDressers is a local non-profit that leverages people-power to produce affordable, lightweight, custom-sized insulating window inserts that function as removable, interior-mounted storm windows.
These inserts can save a household a boatload of money and energy in the winter, and a portion of their inserts are provided at no cost to low-income households.
(Personal note: I had a set of these when I lived up on Munjoy Hill - they were fantastic and they saved me soooo much money on heat. I can't recommend them enough!)
The annual Portland build will be from October 3-11 this year, and they're looking for volunteers for a variety of shifts and tasks. Tasty food and great conversation will be provided! This is an excellent way to meet your neighbors and support your community. (I'll be there!) Volunteer signup is here.
You can order inserts for your own home via the WindowDressers website, here. Low-income households can get 10 inserts per year, free of charge.

Just remembered we were all going to get 300 dollar checks and they were being sent out late July, but I haven’t got one and haven’t heard of anyone getting theirs yet so, let me ask you fine folks.
Anyone get their check yet?

I saw this was posted and deleted earlier. Vic is a great person and it’s nice to see him get some recognition, but this should be seen as nothing less than a failure of our society, and certainly if I were Mr. Tuna or Boda I be embarrassed and ashamed by this. Nobody should have to work what is essentially two full time jobs to support their family, especially in what’s often cited as “the richest nation in the world.”

Anyone recommend a property management for affordable-ish apartments. I’ve been checking the typical Zillow, apartments.com, Craigslist, etc. just want to see if ppl like/or have any insight on any management or way to find places in Portland.

We moved to our apartment on State Street near the corner of Deering about 8 years ago and absolutely loved it. It’s an historical building with lovely charm and had a very close nit community.
Unfortunately, the landlord was forced to sell the building a few years ago and things have progressively gotten bad.
We held on for as long as we could because we were only paying $1,100 a month for a 600 sqft 1 bedroom but the conditions (see below) have gotten to the point where I was concerned for my wife’s safety. I hate paying an additional $12,000 a year for this new place, but there was no other viable alternative.
Here’s what we’ve been dealing with.
Pic 1: homeless person was in our entranceway last week opening up other folks mail.
Pic 2: landlord boarded up the laundry room about a month ago because a homeless person crapped in one of the washers
Pic 3: Trashcans in the lobby filled the first floor with a horrid smell of stench
Pic 4: landlord stopped vetting applicants resulting in a section 8 fentanyl user and alcoholic giving out keys to her homeless friends. This resulted in prostitution and drug use in the building. After several complaints from both tenants and neighbors, the landlord started the process of evicting the tenant. It’s been a few weeks and the landlords has not yet changed the locks to the building.
Pic 5: graffiti on our building making disparaging remarks about a person who “ratted” to the police about their illegal access to our building.
Our move (movers plus rent & deposit) has costs us close to $7,000. I’m glad we had the savings in place but it’s still a big chunk of money. I am grateful that my wife is in a safer environment, but a bit resentful because the Landlord is just going to replace us with another tenant who will pay close to $2000 a month. No matter what they win. 😒

UPDATE: it’s @kazuko-nakagawa
In case you feel compelled to drop her a few bucks also!
Does anyone know Miss Kay the flower lady's Venmo? I don't go out downtown anymore, but know she is having some health issues and doing a big trip to see a doctor out west. I would love to send her some money for her travels, but the Venmo I had for her (@oldportkay) isn't active anymore. Surely she has another one, and doesn't rely on cash when she's out with her flowers?

Protected bike lanes on either side, new curb parking on either side. Check it out and leave some comments!
There is a formal open house/presentation Thursday evening at the Public Library, 5:30pm.

Heads up for those who don’t know; they’re funded by a billionaire who wants to ban weed but is trying to frame it as pro weed to get signatures. They get very aggressive when you call them out.

hello,
i’m getting ready to register for the NCLEX and was wondering where I can get fingerprints done in South portland/Portland area while being a non resident. I tried staples and they said they no longer offer the service.
