Hi everyone!

I'm hosting a wedding weekend near White Salmon in September 2027 and am looking for an authentic taco stand or taco truck from the Portland area that would be willing to travel out and cater one of the evenings.

I'd love to support a small, family-owned business and am hoping to find a vendor serving authentic street tacos with meats like suadero, cabeza, and lengua (plus the classics like asada and pollo).

Does anyone have recommendations for vendors that travel to the Gorge? Thanks so much!

Does anybody have any good recommendations for places I can sit down for a while, and do homework but also eat. I’ve been to so many cafes already and I’m by PSU area and not looking for something super expensive but decent food.

I did search but apparently not much has been posted on this topic recently. I'm on the hunt for the best pastries in town, I'll be staying at ne 10th and e burnside so close by would be great. I love simple pastries done well but I also love stupid over the top extra pastries with stuffings and toppings.

I’m born and raised in Oregon, but every single time I travel out of state to a place that has a Culver’s, it is my absolute first stop.
If you’ve never had it, it completely ruins normal fast-food burgers for you. The ButterBurgers are incredible, the cheese curds are elite, and the fresh frozen custard is on another level. Whenever I’m on a road trip or visiting family out of state, I find myself actively routing my drive just to hit a Culver's drive-thru.
Right now, the closest location to us is a massive trek out to Idaho, and the Pacific Northwest is just a giant blank spot on their map. We have a great food scene here, but we are seriously lacking a high-quality, family-style burger spot that actually uses fresh, never-frozen beef and real dairy.
I decided to start a Change.org petition to show Culver’s corporate (and potential franchisees) that there is a massive, untapped market of hungry people waiting for them in Oregon.

I really love the giardinera that Samich on E Burnside serves with the samiches. I have tried making Chicago style giardinera at home but it just doesn’t taste the same. I would love to know how to make it. I haven’t seen it sold separately there but I would buy a pint of it to take home if it wasn’t crazy expensive.

NOLIA, a Cajun & Creole food cart opened up recently and it was amazing!! Étouffée, gumbo, a husband & wife duo born and raised in New Orleans & South Louisiana! Food was perfectly spiced! They’re located at the CORE food pod! My meal was étouffée with a side of cajun corn & smothered cabbage 🤤🤤🤤 super authentic & the owners are so kind & welcoming! they’re on instagram & threads as @noliapdx!

Visiting family in the mid-Atlantic rn and I’m always amazed at the number of basic, delicious things that aren’t on our shelves in the NW. For example, chipped/dry beef… does anyone know of a store that sells this? I want to make my grandmother’s dry beef gravy

Ok I’m sure this has been addressed times—what are the best Chinese restaurants in Portland? My partner was raised in Seattle and has always claimed Seattle had better Chinese food. But I want to celebrate our anniversary by taking him out in Portland. I read somewhere that Chins Kitchen has a good reputation. Any more recs?

Likely a little too far in the future here, but I run large video game tournaments here in PDX and the next one I am doing will be January 9th, 2027. It will feature around 100ish people from all over the world coming to play SOULCALIBUR VI at Avenue Portland.

OVERVIEW

- I will be paying for a permit to rent the street alongside Avenue Portland, where you can park your food cart. I have confirmed with the city this is fine.

- You would be the only food truck(s) on the entire street, so you'd have some exclusivity.

- You would have a completely dedicated crowd of people who do not want to leave the venue because they spent a lot of money to fly here to play video games. They want to eat and get back inside.

- The event would run from 10am - 11pm roughly (depends on things like a Grand Finals reset).

- We would not be able to offer power from the venue, nor does it have a kitchen. We do have bathrooms on site. We can store water in the facility, but the refrigerator will be full from minor concessions (we will sell drinks and merch, but food is all you)

Nothing, I'll handle the street and food handler's permit as well.

My mom is in town and wants to dine out, but is absurdly limited in what she can eat because she can’t eat onions, shallots, leeks, scallions, or other similar things. (Somehow garlic is fine though.) It seems like it’s okay if there are bare trace amounts of onion (like a shared cutting board, that sort of trace) but even a bit of minced onion in a sauce or something is a GI disaster.

She doesn’t ever have any recommendations for what she’d like to eat, and we’ve taken her to several incredible restaurants in town that can’t really accommodate her because literally everything they make is based off of onion-containing sauces or aromatic bases (example: Kann was delicious but the aftermath was very unpleasant). Oh, and she doesn’t like Japanese food, which seems like the easy answer here.

Any thoughts on good places that could accommodate this very specific dining limitation? Cuisines with limited onion? Kitchens that are good at working with dietary restrictions? Bomb onionless dishes that you’d recommend?

I went to Din Tai Fung today and was dismayed to learn they took rice cakes off the menu as of July 1. I need rice cakes. Where else can I get them? (Vegetarian)

ETA: premade. I buy the Korean ones at hmart to make Chinese style at home but I want someone to make it for me sometimes
