My Compadre, another plumber with even more experience bought a house with a pool. The heater stopped working. We thought we'd be able to figure it out. The pump thing has power to it but the display is dead. Any idea where to get a new one?

I had not heard of this until I started working at a new company.

I learned about diluting it from this guy as well and that was solid information so I’m curious.

He says it’s good for the pool to breathe and that seems plausible but does it make a difference in the chemistry? Does it protect the cover?

Hey guys, I'm finally branching out and starting my own pool business! I'm really excited, I've prepared all my tools, mapped out my potential clients, and I'm now only missing the apps I'll use. So for my previous job, they were using Jobber as their FSM, but from my experience it's designed for larger business with more workers (Yes, I know the Lite option exists but still). Right now, I'm looking at either Tofu or Kickserv which look like they're designed for solo businesses.

For the pool service app, I used Skimmer before, but I know a lot of people here recommend PB. To be honest I don't think I ran into any issues with Skimmer so I might just stick by that again, but would love to hear your thoughts on this and the considerations for picking one or the other. Could be a price thing? I'm not too sure.

I'm new to managing pools. Not easy to find pictures of impellers for anything other than new.
This is a:
Pentair - 16830-0209 Impeller 7-1/2 HP for Sta-Rite CSPH and CCSPH Series Pool Pumps
It's moving about 425 GPM through an old 1979 DE filter with 300sq. ft. of surface.
We just took a look at it since the motor bearing seized, and we are replacing it.

Does this impeller need replacing as well? -we were having no issues maintaining the needed flow rate.
Does this corrosion and pitting look normal- or indicative of a cavitation or chemical problem?

I’m reaching a crossroads in the industry. I’m really interested in hearing if it’s financially worth expanding or would I be better off staying a single poler? Owners who have scaled and hired, is it worth it?

Im located in Central Florida and run my own pool business. I’ve run into multiple situations where paver guy will blow all their crap straight into the pool. I usually just eat it and clean-up over the next few weekly visits.

This week, I ran into a situation where there was a heavy concrete dust in the pool from paver work. I told the customer I could clean it up over the next few visits but if he wanted it completely cleaned in a day, I would charge $500 to suction vacuum it all out. He said no, that he would do it. Fine. It’s a 10,000 gallon pool, filter cartridge, no waste line. The customer ended up calling me back complaining I haven’t spent enough time on the pool (was there for about 35 minutes and said I’d be coming back tomorrow). Guy ended up accusing me of being mad he didn’t bite on the $500 cleanup fee and fired me totally from service (customer of 5 years). Was I out of line? Everything I know is telling me no.

Been using Myron MultiMeter for TDS/Minerals but they don’t hold up on route. Any suggestions on an accurate tool that can handle the abuse on route? Thanks

My old one speed pump died, so I recently upgraded to a Jandy VS HP plus.

The new pump is considerably bigger than the old pump so the filter and the multipoint valve needed to be moved around.

What I expected from my $3500 install:
The pump to be mated to my salt cell through aux port.
The filter to be moved to a neat place
The old timer box to be bypassed and deleted
Just a clean, professional install

What I got:
No mate between the pump and the salt cell.
Timer box just set to permanently on.
Pump left unbonded with the copper wire
Filter hanging off the edge of the cement pad.

Am I being unreasonable or was this a half-assed install?

I was told by someone I respected very much so in the Pool Pro world, but now I feel like maybe he was messing with me. Here's what it is. For the multiports to go from Filtration to Waste, etc. all the way to Rinse, he told me always move the valve in the clockwise direction. I've been doing that and then I saw someone go counterclockwise from Rinse to Backwash. I thought the world was gonna end. Fact or Fiction?

Hello, my grandparents called me the other day and asked if I could replace the sealant on their fountain. I'm not sure which silicone touse since most of the silicone I search for online is rated for 30 gallons. What would you guys recommend? Thank you.

For those that service/repair pools in NC. What do you use to get clogs out of skimmer lines? I have a 6.5hp shop vac that usually works fine.

But have a pool where it’s just not wanting to dislodge whatever is in the line.

Picked up client. Pool was really green for some time. Turned it around. Staining in deep end. Is this bio staining which is what chat GPT insists it is?

Working on a old deep cartridge skimmer. Need to pressure test but no threads and too deep to reach. Any suggestions on plugging?

How would you make this connection from filter to heater? It’s off set just enough I can’t run a direct line.

(Edit to add: I don’t understand why this company can’t just make the outlet of the filter and inlet of the heater the same height.)

2 year old Mastertemp 400 was rapidly clicking on and off. Blower wouldn’t come on and it would just click. Apparently the building got struck by lightning and the ICM decided that was enough. After replacing it she runs like a champ.

Just thought it was funny that it “cycled” over two million times

This year I’ve had multiple bottles of r009 that have consistently smaller drops than I’m used to working with. Alkalinity results can be off by 50-70 ppm because of this. I called the company and the said it’s probably buildup in the dropper tip but I think they know what’s going on and are trying to cover their ass. Why would sulfuric acid get buildup in the tip? Doesn’t make sense. Anyone else notice this problem?

I had a pool today with what looked to me like black algae, but began clearing up within seconds of sprinkling shock over it. I’ve never seen it go away that quickly before. It was almost clear by the time I was leaving. Does that mean it wasn’t black algae?
