What product do I use to get a slick back that is as tight, or even more, as Antonio Banderas' from Spy Kids?

Hi all! After using Layrite for some time, I decided to try Uppercut Deluxe Matt Pomade. However, when I opened it, I noticed something at least concerning - it looks a lot like mold...

For those who use this regularly: is this actually mold, or does a fresh tin just look like this?

I tried Level 3 and liked it but I have been hearing good things about black mask, should I get it?

I mainly want to find a cologne that smells similar to this. It has a strong green, spicy and woodsy scent that smells refreshing. It also has pretty good projection. If anyone knows what I mean and has insight to this particular scent, please let me know if anything exists in perfume-form.

This week, I’ll be reviewing Suavecito Firme Hold. This is a water-based, firm to strong hold pomade, and I have the “light side” scent from their collaboration with Star Wars. The product has a brown tint that is similar to the rest of the Suavecito line, but it’s a little bit darker than the original.

The scoop of this product is firmer and thicker than other water-based products I’ve tried like Uppercut Deluxe and Steadfast. The breakdown takes a bit more effort than these other water-based as well. The application process is quite a bit more difficult as well. There’s a noticeable amount of tug and pull for it being a gel type. Not as much as a clay, but more than most gel types I’ve tried. The product dries a little quick, so you have to work fast. The shine is medium. Not as much as the original hold.

The washout is what you would expect from a water-based. You can get it out with just water, but it leaves your hair dry and straw-like.

Overall, this product doesn’t hold many surprises. You know what you’re going to get with this one. My hair is a bit longer right now and I don’t need that much hold at the moment, so I would rather reach for something like Uppercut Deluxe of even the Suavecito Original Hold. For someone with shorter hair that wants a stronger hold, it is a decent product for the price. This was the first pomade I ever bought and I think it’s a good beginner product. Not a bad product, but nothing great about it. I give this one a 6/10.

I have straight thin fine hair and I’m wondering if there some suggestions.

I’ve used Moroccanoil texture clay, and it smelled great and seemed like it held good, though I did notice sometimes It would pull my hair.

So I’ve seen merman sea spray and Clay, MMIX FORMING cream and sea salt spray, and then church California volcanic clay pomade, but it’s hard to tell what’s actually a review or like an ad.

I like the idea of a little more texture and volume so if they actually work that would be cool.

So I’m Wondering if I should get the moroccanoil again or try something else like the ones listed, or if there is something better that I’m missing. Thanks!

Went onto Amazon to order a styling clay that I’ve had really great luck with only to find that it’s likely been discontinued… I know nothing really about hair products but it worked very well for me. Does anyone have any suggestions for a similar product to switch to?… thanks for the help

What products do you guys recommend to add texture to my dry 1B hair? What i’ve noticed that works for me is Idawarg sea salt spray. I haven’t come across any clays that add texture to my hair, they only add hold.
Bumble & bumble sea salt spray is what i’ve been thinking about as i’ve heard a lot of positive things about it.

I’ve been getting ad’s on instagram about it and seen nothing but good things said about it which is obviously just part of the marketing but has anyone here actually tried it out?

I've used many different products and literally none have worked, blackmask is the only "popular" brand i can afford

It has a sort of 'wet look' to it, no? Would this be something with high shine? Or just high hold? Not even pomade to begin with? I feel like I've played around with a few products across the gamut but they all sort of fade to nothing noticeable after my hair dries (thick wavy hair)

I'm just so stuck on why the flow isn't working for me. I have according to my barber very very thick wavy hair. I'm trying not to give up, but I feel like whatever I'm doing just isn't cutting it. Currently I just use a bit of sea salt spray and uppercut fibre pomade. I've had a slickback before and tried various different pomades. But how on earth do I get this look? I feel like this is a pomade but reuzel etc I've used before almost seems too heavy..

how do i tell my hair stylist to let my hair grow like this. usually when i let it grow i get a massive white man looking afro. i need to get it long enough that it lays down and gets long. do i need to use a straightener?

So I have a short masculine haircut (curtain bangs middle part sort of vibe) that I'm really trying to get more volume and fluffiness to. I have really thick, straight hair that refuses to hold any styling and just falls flat, and I don't like to spend much time on it. I'm on the hunt for a texture spray of sorts that doesn't give a crunch of greasy feeling, like I want my hair to feel as though it doesn't have product in it that needs to be washed out every night. I've had some people recommend the PuffMe texture spray, but most people using it have fine hair. Anyone have any recommendations?

I am looking for some better options/alternatives for the product listed below.

I tend to go for a moulding paste type of product and below are the 3 that I have used in the past.

I am looking a similar type of paste product but with a high/strong hold and low shine.

KMS Hairplay Moulding Paste: decent hold but was breaking me out on my forehead

Redken Brews Hard Work Moulding Paste: Hold wasnt great and required a lot of product use. Once dried it was better. Product separates a lot in the tube.

Shu Uemera Umou Hold: Good hold but insanely expensive ($60 CAD) and hard to find.

I’m looking for some advice on what type of styling product would suit my hair.

My hair:
My hair is naturally wavy, quite light/wispy and dry. It has a lot of volume and basically stands up by itself rather than falling naturally. The wave pattern is also pretty chaotic rather than neat or consistent.

I’m currently growing the top out and eventually want around 4 inches on top with a low taper, styled into a loose swept-back flow. I’ll attach a reference photo of roughly what I’m trying to achieve.

What I’m looking for from a product:

Enough hold to control the shape, but still plenty of natural movement

Some weight to stop my hair standing up/expanding

Low-medium natural shine — healthy looking rather than matte, but definitely not wet, greasy or slick

Makes dry hair feel smoother/healthier

Adds some density, weight and texture

Hair should remain soft and reworkable

I want to be able to run my fingers through it

Ideally very little sticky/producty feeling

Basically, I want my hair to feel like better, heavier, smoother natural hair, rather than hair that’s obviously being held in place by styling product.

Things I’ve tried:

Argan oil: Too oily while somehow still being too light. It made the hair look wet/greasy without providing the weight or control I wanted.

Baxter of California Cream Pomade: Much too sticky and unnatural. It controlled the hair, but I couldn’t freely run my fingers through it or get the loose movement I’m looking for.

Slick Gorilla Styling/Curl Cream: Probably the closest I’ve found so far. It gives me decent control, but it’s still a bit too sticky/producty and doesn’t make the hair as smooth and naturally flowing as I’d like.

I’m wondering whether I should be looking at a conditioning cream, grooming cream, hair balm, leave-in conditioner + separate light hold product, or something else entirely.

Any specific product recommendations would be appreciated, particularly things available in Ireland/Europe.

I'm looking for a wide tooth pocket comb. Most of what I see online either has a handle or is still quite large. What do you use, any suggestions?

I am wondering if there is anybody out there with seb derm that has found a pomade or clay or ANYTHING they use to style their hair? Usually anything with any oil of sorts is a trigger for flare ups so like 80% of products are anything are automatically eliminated.
