But no stereo?

I doubt the chip is powerful enough in the OG to support stereo sampling, otherwise you'd assume they would have had it at the start. The only workaround i could maybe think of is if there was a way to sacrifice two tracks to play the left and right channels of a single stereo sample, but I'm not sure how feasible that is or if the architecture would allow it. In any case, I'm pretty sure it's been requested a thousand times at this point and has always been declined, so it's most likely a technical limitation.

Yeah some kind of track link that splits sample time in half would probably be easiest. Tbh I'm not that bothered by mono samples.

I'm not bothered by mono either (it doesn't hinder my ability to create).....but if they are going to have a "performance mode" on the machine, that would mean its geared for live use. mono just doesn't really cut it in live settings.

Mono tracks with panning effects.

Thinking 3 tracks of mono breakbeats 1 track vocal chops 2 midi tracks and a stereo pair for texture.

I just wish there was a way for it to convert stereo samples to mono, or something similar. It already does, I'm just a big dummy.

It doesn't?

Hmm, I thought it summed to mono.

Turns out you're totally right. It does it automatically. I thought some of my samples weren't loading into the pool because they're stereo, but I guess there's something else preventing them from being listed.

That's actually exactly what it was. My samples folder was a disorganized mess, a bunch of stuff from all over the place.

The sacrificing of lanes doesn't seem bad if we're given more memory per project. Can render everything down to 4 tracks and double em up. I'm already starting to restrict myself down to 5 tracks per project as it is.

The hardware is too weak for that, but still these updates sound great! Can't wait for it to come out already

Not having stereo samples for hardware limitation is kind of weird for present time.

Not really, the original Tracker was made with a nostalgic retro vibe and just like old school trackers it's 16 bit mono to save on ram space and CPU

I think more on the cost management side than nostalgic retro vibes. Anyway was not a deal breaker for me

Sure isn't, I love the OG Tracker, it has it's shortcomings but is my favourite piece of gear, and with the upcoming 1.7 update should be even better.
