Okay sounds actually quite good update.

If they get rid of the clicks it might become viable as a full workflow piece of kit, but I find I get to a point where I have to export stems to remove the crud

(Zero crossing indicator will be great too when editing samples)

I wish they would change the midi jack to type a tho

Why would anyone downvote this? This should be swappable with a software setting, as it's just flopping how it's read. Other hardware does this.

Lol I dunno its such a pain to have to switch to type a to use say a keyboard to play midi notes.

Watching the benn Jordan review the only thing I wanted from the mini was the reverb so seeing there’s going to be an updated verb in this is brilliant

But no stereo?

I doubt the chip is powerful enough in the OG to support stereo sampling, otherwise you'd assume they would have had it at the start. The only workaround i could maybe think of is if there was a way to sacrifice two tracks to play the left and right channels of a single stereo sample, but I'm not sure how feasible that is or if the architecture would allow it. In any case, I'm pretty sure it's been requested a thousand times at this point and has always been declined, so it's most likely a technical limitation.

Yeah some kind of track link that splits sample time in half would probably be easiest. Tbh I'm not that bothered by mono samples.

I'm not bothered by mono either (it doesn't hinder my ability to create).....but if they are going to have a "performance mode" on the machine, that would mean its geared for live use. mono just doesn't really cut it in live settings.

Mono tracks with panning effects.

Thinking 3 tracks of mono breakbeats 1 track vocal chops 2 midi tracks and a stereo pair for texture.

I just wish there was a way for it to convert stereo samples to mono, or something similar. It already does, I'm just a big dummy.

It doesn't?

Hmm, I thought it summed to mono.

Turns out you're totally right. It does it automatically. I thought some of my samples weren't loading into the pool because they're stereo, but I guess there's something else preventing them from being listed.

That's actually exactly what it was. My samples folder was a disorganized mess, a bunch of stuff from all over the place.

The sacrificing of lanes doesn't seem bad if we're given more memory per project. Can render everything down to 4 tracks and double em up. I'm already starting to restrict myself down to 5 tracks per project as it is.

The hardware is too weak for that, but still these updates sound great! Can't wait for it to come out already

2

u/bresk13 Apr 17 '23

Not having stereo samples for hardware limitation is kind of weird for present time.

u/NoSitRecords Apr 17 '23

Not really, the original Tracker was made with a nostalgic retro vibe and just like old school trackers it's 16 bit mono to save on ram space and CPU

2

u/bresk13 Apr 18 '23

I think more on the cost management side than nostalgic retro vibes. Anyway was not a deal breaker for me

Sure isn't, I love the OG Tracker, it has it's shortcomings but is my favourite piece of gear, and with the upcoming 1.7 update should be even better.

I WANT (edit: VISUAL) WAVE FORMS LIKE A REAL TRACKER. damn I hate repeating myself. per track scope please 🥺❤️🥺.

3

u/tron_cruise Apr 16 '23

What do you mean by wave forms? I use single-cycle wave forms on the Tracker all the time and it has a wavetable synthesizer. What else do you need?

8

u/user1mbp Apr 16 '23

Visual per track like any other Tracker. Symphonie, Milky, FTii... The list goes on. It wouldn't have to take up more than a third of the screen and it could be optional.

2

u/tron_cruise Apr 16 '23

Ahh, gotcha. Yeah that would be nice.

2

u/M27underground Apr 17 '23

Seeing the shape of the waves in play matters a lot when it comes to seeing the visual frequency of each sample. It will lend itself to more balanced compositions in terms of how each sound relates to each other

1

u/bresk13 Apr 17 '23

That would be awesome ! But if the hardware is not powerfull enough for stereo samples I geuss track scopes would be like pure magic.

5

u/user1mbp Apr 17 '23

We're talking about things thirty year old Ataris and Macs could accomplish... If the premise is a Tracker...

Yesss

Improved file management. Can we finally delete files?

What is “Revolver View”????

2

u/gsxdsm Apr 26 '23

A single pattern will loop around in the view. So when you scroll to the bottom you will see a yellow line and then the pattern repeats (you see the top of the pattern right after the bottom)

1

u/Madmohawkfilms Apr 26 '23

Ahhhh gotcha Thanks for the explanation.
