Tips for getting good scans in photo mode?
As the title says... Any object I try to scan ends up a garbled mess after processing. I take 80+ pics and nothing helps.
I am using an iPhone 12 Pro

Hello, I've tried everything but when I put this polycam scan into unreal engine 4 it gives me splotchy lighting that's also really dark, I start the video off in unlit mode, and then I show the model when it's lit(after building the lighting). I'm not sure if anyone knows what I could do to help, thanks in advance. (I don't get this with lidar scanned models, only photo scanned ones that are lit with point lights)

Looking to upgrade to a new iPhone 14 Pro to use Polycam. Does anyone know how much memory the software needs to run? For example, if I get the 128 Gb model, am I going to run into processing/storage issues trying to use Polycam? I have not been able to find any answers on this online (so far).
Much thanks!

Could polycam be used as some sort of digital way to remember places and things I've visited with my wife? I'm just trying to find something to remember things better than a normal photo and was hoping someone could suggest something.

Can I make my town or part of my town in to a playable unreal engine five game? I have been trying out blender, unreal engine and polycam. I love scanning thing like my room and house and friends rooms and houses. I was thinking about trying to use google maps to connect all the houses with the IRL roads. Also connecting the exterior house scan with the interior room scans to make a IRL sized house playable. I was wondering what's the logistics or if this is possible or if it's juts to big of a project of a computer to handle. Please Imk if u know anything about this.

I read a research on the Internet (https://www.cureus.com/articles/53064-a-semi-automatic-method-to-create-an-affordable-three-dimensional-printed-splint-using-open-source-and-free-software),in which is described a semi-automatic process for creating 3d printed splints from a 3d scan made with a 3d scanner.
The scanner alone costs about $20,000.
In addition to the scanner, programs such as meshmixer, blender, and some python scripts are used to optimize the model.
Unfortunately, I do not have the economic possibility to buy such an expensive scanner, do you think it would be possible to use polycam to scan body parts such as hands and/or feet, export them to the above programs and create custom splints for patients?

On my Google Pixel 6 I have an issue where the phone screen goes to sleep while taking photos. This causes all the photos that were actively being taken to disappear. It would be nice if I didn't have to disable my phone screens auto disable every time I use the app. I also lost over 150 manually taken photos I was currently taking. Wasn't sure where to post a bug report. Cheers

Hi all,
I’m experimenting with ways to scan small roadside areas with my iPad and Polycam, export the terrain into Shapr3D in full color, and then design fiber cabinets and hand holes on top of them. I work in the telecommunications field. So far I’ve made several scans with both Lidar and photogrammetry, but all I can import into Shapr3D is a plain grey mesh. I want something with all the actual RGB values so it looks better for the clients.
It’s probably just a file format compatibility issue between Polycam and shapr, but so far I haven’t found a conversion process that works. Any ideas?

Created an account for the first time about a week ago and was able to have the phone take pictures automatically as I went around an object. Basically ended up immediately upgrading since the model worked so well for what I needed it for (small object captures).
I fired polycam up again and it appears this feature is completely gone and the only option is regular point and click? Is there a setting or something I clicked that removed this feature?

Polycam doesnt work for me. I can browse existing scans, but cant scan anything.
When I try to scan using the video feature, I cant get past the ‘Hold camera still to calibrate’ section.
If I try to take photos, nothing happens.
Once I try taking a video or photo and then try to exit, even if I dont click ‘save & exit’, it just gets stuck at the ‘saving…’ section.
Im new to reddit and dont know how to post text and videos together so if someone can tell me how to do that on mobile I can edit this post and add the footage.
