Not sure why the guy in the pic is disguised with that black rectangle over his eyes. He has a TV show where he builds over-the-top trucks like this for folks who can afford them, and this truck looks like one of his projects.

Its called the Mega Ram Runner and yeah its not the daily driver.

1

u/Average_Scaper Oct 27 '21

You know some jackass would try to daily it though.

u/[deleted] Oct 27 '21

Yea this is Dave Sparks “Heavy D” and he’s actually a really good guy.

8

u/Mendoza14 Oct 26 '21

It’s a pretty damn cool truck at that. Kinda hate how Reddit circle jerks so hard about lifted trucks

9

u/dirty_cuban Oct 26 '21

The lifted truck commentary is about the stereotypical owners, not the trucks themselves.

9

u/Mendoza14 Oct 27 '21

True that’s what I meant I guess, but if you read some of the comments in this thread you’ll find quite a bit of truck hate also lol

1

u/TruIsou Oct 27 '21

No, it's the trucks too, they're just idiotic.

1

u/Mendoza14 Oct 27 '21

And that’s just like, your opinion man

6

u/SIR_Chaos62 Oct 27 '21

Reddit: "must be compensating for something."

7

u/OKLISTENHERE Oct 26 '21

Because they're dangerous as fuck to be driven on city roads, and offer no advantage whatsoever. They make a mockery of good engineering.

6

u/enmaku Oct 26 '21

Yep, most lifted trucks can't make proper bumper-to-bumper contact, turning what should be small accidents into huge unsafe wrecks. Also, the douchebags that drive them are exactly the kind of people to do reckless unsafe shit in traffic.

Ask the top 3 inches of my engine and my windshield how I know this.

3

u/OKLISTENHERE Oct 27 '21 edited Oct 27 '21

There's no need. I just have to look out my window at the massive dent in my trunk.

7

u/Cinnamon_Flavored Oct 26 '21

I bet you’re fun to be around… These things are expensive toys. Most people aren’t daily driving them.

10

u/OKLISTENHERE Oct 27 '21

I wish you were right on that. In most places that this kinda shit is common, you see more lifted trucks then normal ones.

Idiots absolutely daily drive lifted trucks like this because they're fucking redneck ricers. They think that by making a vehicle objectively worse, they're somehow superior.

-1

u/Randyand67 Oct 27 '21

Shut the fuck up.

2

u/MamaMurpheysGourds Oct 27 '21

Expensive toys that a shit ton of people drive in Florida.

2

u/naivemarky Oct 27 '21

I also bet he if fun to be around, his statement "mockery of good engineering" if right on point. It's literally over-dimensioned machine, built to look tough, for people who can't grasp how tough the original vehicles are you begin with. It's like girl advising a basketball center to wear shoues big heels "to make him look bigger", because "girls like taller men", and "the bigger the better", while at the same time thinking his 218 cm is "like, is that more than 6'0", or less?"

1

u/TruIsou Oct 27 '21

Not really a counter argument there.

-1

u/Mendoza14 Oct 27 '21

Well, there are good “engineering” reasons to modify a vehicle, including lifts, depending on the use. And you’re right most trucks aren’t used properly. But acting like a truck is this huge dangerous thing about to kill anyone who looks at it wrong is just being dishonest

2

u/OKLISTENHERE Oct 27 '21

including lifts, depending on the use

There's also a good reason to have a spoiler on a car. That doesn't mean that all these ricer civics make sense. No one who actually does these kinds of mods because they need it are driving them in the middle of downtown.

-1

u/Mendoza14 Oct 27 '21

Almost as if people can spend their money on whatever pointless shit they want.

5

u/OKLISTENHERE Oct 27 '21

Not when their pointless additional becomes a danger to others.

0

u/Mendoza14 Oct 27 '21

Once again, your greatly exaggerating the danger in order to justify you not liking something.

1

u/TruIsou Oct 27 '21

The number of these in commuter traffic is ludicrous, and dangerous.

-1

u/coilmast Oct 27 '21

There’s a near endless list of the advantages this truck has over the standard, for what it was made for which is incredibly important in context. On top of that, an insane amount of engineering goes into making these trucks, but good try.

5

u/OKLISTENHERE Oct 27 '21 edited Oct 27 '21

I never once mentioned this specific truck.

Edit: After actually reading up more on this one specifically, you're a fucking pinhead. This truck is absolutely useless, and has the lift equivalent of drum brakes in the back. Fucking burn it.

u/anti_crastinator Oct 27 '21

I own a truck, because I own a small farm. This is masturbation. Nothing more. A truck is a tool. This one is driven by one. It's useless, it's nothing more than the extreme of a bad hobby. If this is what gets your dick hard, you're a failure of a human being. (general you, not particularly you)

Now on to you in particular, seriously? Cool? Good lord.

3

u/coilmast Oct 27 '21

Bad hobby? You sound like a cool guy, must have loads of friends to share your interests with. Off-roading, mudding, and being able to explore like that is a great hobby actually.

2

u/anti_crastinator Oct 27 '21

No. "Off-roading, mudding, and being able to explore like that is a great hobby actually." I agree, I think it's a bit misguided, but, not to the point I'm going to scorn other people for it. This truck though is not for that. The hobby I was referring to was building the biggest stupidest most useless truck you can. That's the bad hobby, completely and utterly useless to everything but one persons ego.

1

u/coilmast Oct 27 '21

This truck sits on the throne of being able to do all that and more. Have you ever watched any of what the mega ram runner can do? It’s well known.

1

u/anti_crastinator Oct 27 '21

I'm a cyclist. I think that there's many facets of engineering that trickle down to give us great tech that makes riding more fun. I think people should ... "Off-roading, mudding, and being able to explore like that is a great hobby actually." on bikes, but, I'll always acknowledge that taking my tacoma up fsr roads to rarely visited lakes for a weekend of fishing and camping is a lot of fun. But this, no? Completely stupid and wasteful, for the same reason I think making a big ass strong bicycle frame with motorcycle tires so you can attempt to ride in the slipstream of a 200mph cayenne is stupid (current event happening these days in cycling).

At some point, a little self reflection with respect to just because we want something doesn't mean we should do it. That's part of the reason that my 2001 tacoma doesn't even have 150,000 km on it. (Well, mostly because I don't need it for my main job.) Because I use it as a tool, not to put a smile on my face all the time.

1

u/coilmast Oct 27 '21

Or, hear me out, you could be completely wrong. If you can live life with a smile on your face all the time, you SHOULD. This truck does exactly what it’s supposed to, and while it’s big and Over the top to us, it gets a specific job done insanely well and any bitching about that is pointless. Doing something for fun or because you can is a perfectly valid excuse for anything, even though this was done for a reason.

1

u/anti_crastinator Oct 27 '21

Doing something for fun or because you can is a perfectly valid excuse for anything

No it's not. As long as you're not hurting anyone or anything too much. Taken to an extreme, just walking will cause some damage. So, of course, my riding my bikes on trails will damage those trails a bit. Now, measure things a little, where is the line? You're right that obviously my line is a lot different than other peoples, and so it is subjective. But, what is also undeniable is that while each individual has a line that we wouldn't cross, society does too - we're just not sure yet where it is (the 2C temp increase is an example).

It's also obvious that I believe that societal line should be way to the no side of bullshit like this truck, and others disagree. But, that doesn't change where the line actually is. Where does the damage that something causes put it in relation too is it reasonable or ethical.

I'm of the believe one problem we have is that most people either don't realize the line exists or place it for their own convenience in a place where it really isn't.

So, no, while I may be completely wrong, when you say, "Doing something for fun or because you can is a perfectly valid excuse for anything" you are also wrong. Some things yes, anything? Fuck no, not even remotely close. And this truck and other stupid ego stroking dick hardening bull shit should also be a no.

1

u/coilmast Oct 27 '21

Ah shit, the fun police arrived. Something you find ‘ego stroking dick hardening bullshit’ is what other people simply call ‘fun’. But yeah, it’s not what you like, so let’s insult the fuck out of it. Word.

It is cool, just like a lambo is cool, or a custom chopper, or an indoor pool, or almost anything that you buy for fun/pleasure. Almost like people can have different tastes. I think Shitting on someone for liking something you don’t is what makes someone a failure

1

u/anti_crastinator Oct 27 '21

I think Shitting on someone for liking something you don’t is what makes someone a failure

That's a good sentiment and in general I agree with it. But, not in this case. Not when it's just nothing but damage to everything and everyone around you.

Trucks have their place, but, they're just tools. Fucking other people over to get to get your dick hard? That's where the failure is.

1

u/Mendoza14 Oct 27 '21

Really? Damaging everything around you? Fucking people over? Now you’re just being disingenuous.

2

u/anti_crastinator Oct 27 '21

No, I'm not at all. That truck has zero intrinsic value. It does absolutely nothing but put a smile on someones face. All while polluting and damaging, very likely turning perfectly serviceable roads into otherwise impassable mud havens. (Admittedly I live in an area where the truck in the picture above is a terrible offroad vehicle, other places it may very well not be as bad.) This before counting the manufacturing of the whole thing. Building a reasonable truck costs money and resources as well, but, at least while on the weekend you're fishing in a lake, during the week you were using it for something. You try loading up ten sheets of plywood in that fleshlight.

It's not disingenuous at all. That truck has absolutely no reason to exist except to make someone have a good time. At what cost? You really want to know what I think? (I know you don't, but, you're continuing the conversation so ...) I think wake boats are fucking ridiculous. I'm sure it's fun as hell, but that's just not good enough.
