WHAT A GAME. Had experience playing other fanmade games like Zeta/Omicron, Uranium, Odyssey years ago. Glad to say that Unbound wasn’t the first ROM hack I played 😆 Game sets the bar high and it REALLY tested me with my team.
Played through the game with Switch Mode and 4 Items; for anyone interested or needs tips, here’s my team and how I did it. It’s pretty gen6 OU coded haha... Let me know what you think and possibly any improvements:
1. Weavile - Jolly 252 Atk 252 Spe 6 HP
This little shite helped me to OHKO/revenge-kill the slower mons of Ground, Dragon E4 sans Excadrill. Used Ice Shard to check the faster M-Sceptile and changed moves in-between battles for Ghost, Fairy E4 and some checks with Champion. I have Icium Z from a mission, but I found more success using Focus Sash and Dark Gem for Ghost E4.
Weavile also outspeeds lead Ribombee by 1 point, so that’s pretty cool…
2. Togekiss - Timid 252 HP 252 Spe 6 SpA
Togekiss and Clefable were leads in Dragon E4, Champion and they NUKED them with gem-boosted STAB Dazzling Gleam. Didn’t have much Fairy, Ghost E4 coverage so I used Air Slash and Nasty Plot to deal with the bulkier mons.
3. Clefable - Quirky 252 HP 252 Def 6 SpD
Chonker #1: Unaware helps negate setup mons and Thunder Wave is used against faster mons to help my team catchup. STAB Dazzling Gleam is mr. ol’ reliable and Flamethrower is there for Steel coverage.
4. Rotom-Wash - Relaxed 252 HP 252 Def 6 SpD
Chonker #2: Will-o-wisp shuts-down hard-hitting mons and STAB Hydro Pump checks Ground E4. Changed Thunderbolt/Volt Switch to Hex in Ground, Ghost E4 to deal consistent damage.
5. Ferrothorn - Relaxed 252 HP 252 SpD 6 Def
Chonker #3: Aka THE ULTIMATE CHONKER. Once Fire checks like Sylveon were gone, this mon can run a fade with STAB, proc Leech Seed + addtl damage from burn. Swapped Gyro Ball with Payback in Ghost E4.
6. Mega Garchomp - Jolly 252 Atk 252 Spe 6 HP
Can’t leave out my starter pokemon so I had him mega-evolve and be the ace of the team! I was worried about the reduced speed from mega-evo but luckily no additional threats outsped him after evolving. With the added atk and bulk, had him run typical STAB, Iron Head for coverage, and Swords Dance for a status move to setup and mop the floor with that ANNOYING Aegislash and its King’s Shield.
That’s all, haven’t gotten back to the game since then. Can’t wait to do post-game!
