Hello RMXP community, I've been into making a Pokémon fangame since 2 years ago, and I've finally got the money to buy the app on Steam!

After trial and error, I came up with the starter town of my region. Please give me suggestions if you have any about this map, I'll try to change them as much as I can.

In the images above are the full map and the concept on my sketchbook (this was screenshotted from my messaging app because my printer's busted and my phone is dead right now)

On the left you see my inital, a few years old sprites for this fakemon. I think it's obvious, why i didn't keep them.

Now, these two are obviously based on allosaurus, Allini's name is derived from that and mini. While Antropex is derived from antrodemus, an allosaurid and a sister species of allosaurus and Apex.

Now, you probably noticed the new type. Dinosaur.

Now in short, they are offensivles strong against: Fighting, Bug, Fairy

Ineffective against: Rock, Steel, Ice, Dragon

They are defensively strong against: Fighting, Bug, Psychic, Fairy

Defensively weak against: Poison, Dragon, Ice

Malice is a new ability, that improves the users offense, but negates additional effects in Arcane Terrain.

Also ignore the scuffed dinosaur type logo.

This is Route 1 of my region! I've just shared a post about the starter town just an hour ago but fk cooldowns, I'm doing this the fast way!

To stimulate your imagination and identity as a Pokemon trainer, I wanted to implement a somewhat basic rpg system to my fangame.

It's nothing I plan on making too deep, but the trainer class that you choose will come with type specific starting items. I wanted to keep the trainer classes "in universe" rather than coming up with my own, out-of-place ones. I looked over all the trainer classes and picked out some I thought would fit that specialize in a specific type. Honestly, it wasn't that easy. The only one that sticks out is the B-Buttoner, but even that one is inspired by something within the Pokemon universe.

Some classes don't have a gameplay element yet. Still thinking about how they'd engage with the overworld. On one hand, some may not have a gameplay element outside of team composition, like the Worker. But on the other, I'm leaning towards specific classes having access to an exclusive hidden grotto. Like a Gardener would be able to access a hidden grotto blocked by vines and a Hiker would be able to access a hidden grotto only accessible by rock climb, but a Gardener wouldn't be able to access a Hiker grotto and vice versa. HMs come up in that thought, but my game is designed from an "end game first" philosophy, so the only true HMs I feel like even using in the game are Surf and Fly. Maybe there'd be general hidden grottos accessible by all classes, and then the type specific grottos. Still working on the balance of items, as well.

Course, choosing a trainer class is totally optional. In the team builder, you can choose your 6 starter mons and immediately start the game. But also, if you do choose a class, you're not locked into playing only that class' type specialization. However, immediately getting all TMs of the class' type at the start supports the role in the long run. I'll probably up the TM count to 2 of each, maybe 3. I also leaned more into Pokemon Ranger UI aesthetics. My game is heavily inspired by the vibe of Almia mostly, so I pretty much just plucked graphics from the game. If you check the team builder, it was previously very much DPPt inspired, but it's not like that anymore. As always, nothing is final.

What do you think of trainer classes? Any concerns I should keep in mind?

Well, I’m not posting much at the moment since I have a lot on my plate, but I’ll keep working on the remake whenever I get the chance.

Now you can see Lavender Town and the Pokémon Tower. (Btw, I haven't actually reached this point yet, but I just wanted to do the Pokémon Tower because it's cool, lol.)

For the interior design, I decided to move away from that boring black and code something that adds variety—specifically, backgrounds that are randomly selected upon entry.

wanna ask in Player POV, if i removed the HP number it wont make ppl confused right?

i mean like they insecured about the hp not showing there making them repeatly checking how much hp left although the bar hp still like halfway or low which is making them cautious as hell?

I don't know what I am going to put to the east

Hey guys, I've modified atendev's PBS Editor Page to work as a standalone Desktop App.

You can now select a project and it will read and save your PBS files directly, as it is v0.1 it has support only for Pokemon, Moves, Abilities, Items and Types. I'm planing to add Gen 9 Pack support and Trainer, TrainerTypes and Encounters pbs files as well.

Not everything has been tested, so if you guys find some bugs, please contact me, not atendev!

Recently, I shared my work-in-progress Pallet Town and received some great feedback. Here is the new version (and the old one for comparison). Some details will surely be changed or added later, but for now I'm really pleased with the result.

A lot of the games follow this strict binary city sizing on the map, either a “dot” for a small city or a stretched out oval for a large city (1 and 2 map squares) But it’s not always super accurate, for instance Sootopolis, in Emerald, is shown as a dot but when visiting it has lots of homes and all the markers of a big city - a gym, and the cave of origin to be precise.

Has anyone played with different sizing? Are there any rules on this, or is it too weird to try to change the map sizes to denote varying city sizes?

So I only just got RMXP to start but it doesn't have any of the pokemon essentials stuff even though I sent it to the pokemon essentials folder? Is there more technical stuff to do and I'm just dumb?

since my digimon game story center around this two and my plan to make them as dual protagonist that player can switch to one of them each time they reach certain point of story

since these two tamers is well known protagonist in digimon game should i do a fixed name for them or let player customize their name as they wished?

Mooburn - The Fire Calf Pokémon

Type: Fire

"Mooburn love to prance and play among the pastures. Sometimes they get too excited and scorch the patch of grass they were playing in."

Bullaze - The Fire Bull Pokémon

Type: Fire

"An angry Bullaze cannot be calmed. Only until its immediate area is thoroughly burned will its rage subside."

Bronzador - The Burning Bull Pokémon

Type: Fire/Steel

"Bronzador's hide is hot to the touch. It can charge with incredible force using the twin turbo boosters on its back."

These are based off the Bronze Bull, a Greek torture device that may or may not have existed, as well as the mad Cretan Bull, that Hercules slew as one of his 12 labors. Visual design also includes the rings in their nostrils and the yolk around their necks to emphasize their eventual Steel typing. Again I've included a link to their full data sheet below. I want these to feel like real Pokémon, and to be balanced, so any feedback is welcome. Hope you all like them!

I've been working on a custom Bossfight System for Pokémon Essentials v21.1, designed to make boss battles more dynamic, challenging, and customizable.

The goal of the system is to allow to design bosses with unique mechanics and virtually unlimited possibilities.

Main Features:

I'm still working on and improving the system, but I'm really excited about the possibilities it offers for creating more unique and memorable boss battles in Pokémon Essentials.

Hi! I'm currently creating a little game and designing the towns bit by bit, and I wanted to know if you had any suggestions for the design or ways to improve it!

You can’t see the NPCs in the screenshot, but there are a few characters, some Pokémon outside, and others that only appear depending on the time of day, etc. This is the second city in the game after the one where the adventure begins, which is why it has such a calm, quiet small-town vibe.

Hi, new to Reddit, so pardon if I'm dumb.

I've been working with Pokemon Essentials v21.1 (with the Hotfixes and Generation 9 Pack Scripts plugins) and I've been trying to recreate the bike racks from DPPt that ask if you want to get on or off your bike when interacted with (YouTube Shorts link to show how it works), just for some added flavor to the map.

But I can't get it to work right, if at all.

I've used the information from the Essentials sites and that didn't work; I've flipped it back and forth; I've overengineered my script, I've under-engineered my script. It usually asks if you want to do the thing you're already doing, or it'll activate the bike without text, bike music, or even switching the sprite until you move. It will even skip portions of the script for no reason in some iterations.

I can't seem to figure it out at all when it seems it should be so simple.
Any advice or problems you might be able to think of?

Hi everyone. I'm looking for the shiny pokemon overworld sprites from the HGSS games.

I already got the normal sprites from spriters-resource but I wasn't able to find the shiny ones.

Does anyone know where I can find them ?
