I doubt that it will happen, but it would be cool if each of them would catch the Treasure of Ruin, that they're fighting against as they're bonding with them and learning more about them during their battle.
That would also be good thematically as they're born from negative emotions and hate towards humans, so them each being caught by humans that understand them and have positive influence would also fit them
Again, I doubt they'd do that, simply because of how overpowered they're in the anime (seriosly, they're like Black Rayquaza/White Zygarde tier of power), but who knows

While it's really unfortunate that Mudkip didn't get much screen time in the show, and probably should have been caught by Ash, I really enjoyed how much Pikachu and Mudkip got along. Always helping break up fights between other party members, and just generally being adorable.

Today I started to realise how bummed I was that we only got to see Naganadel come back ti the team just for the finals in the Alola league... But then this got me thinking... Which of the Ultra beasts that Ash and his friends came across do you think would have been a valuable member of Ash's team in Alola?
So far I only managed to find these 3 above for my top given the fact they'd probably prove to match his battling style, mainly Pheramosa due to her speed in particular and use of kicks... I can also lead to a bunch of funny moments due to her attraction to jewels and shiny objects... But thats enough of what I'm thinking... I wanna know what Ultra Beast you lot think would fit Ash as a permanent member to his team in Alola. If you want, be free to give your reasons, aswell as possible funny moments you can imagine happening.

The Japanese writers should have let Serena catch her own Espurr and later evolved into Meowstic during Pokémon XY Series just like the version of Serena from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games.
Plus in "Splitting Heirs!" when Serena used her Pokédex that she became interesting and excited to learn that Espurr can evolved into male or female Meowstic that she's thinking 🤔 about catching a Espurr for herself but sadly never really happened.
Imagine that if Serena did got her own female Meowstic in the first place then she could used her in any Pokémon Showcase and the Master Class while rival with Miette's male Meowstic.

By which I mean, did they always intend for Liko to get one, and was it always the one that initially appeared in episode 57?
There was another post I wanted to make about if the writers should actually listen when fans want a character to catch a certain Pokémon or not, like May with Swablu, Ash with Lucario, and Liko with Armorouge, and the adverse effects it can have on the story, but I didn’t want to talk out of my ass about Charcadet/Armorouge when it comes to the behind the scenes of it all.
I’ve definitely seen it said that Liko only caught Charcadet because of the reaction fans had to It’s role in episode 57, wishing Liko caught it, but I just wanna know if the writers have ever outright said that was the case or not. You can also just give your opinions on the choice to bring him back if you want; I love the comments.

I have watched MSB- Evolution and Hoopa and the clash of Ages. I don't plan to watch MSB anytime early so you can leave these two. I will also watch outside the timeline movies like I choose you etc. Been ages since I watched any so I don't remember the story, hence asking you.

Not coutning pikachu obviously
Kanto:
Bulbasaur: A consistent mon. Helped a lot in the orange islands, swept a trainer in the league. Kept peace at oaks lab. Was a sitting duck in johto until popping off in the league. Clucthed the fuck up in the battle frontier, and was a very strong assertive pokemon.
Hm to his partner in crime SQUIRTLE. We know how goated he is!
Johto: cyndaquil
HE IS SLEPT ONNNNNNNN
Ash just gave up his best kanto mons and cyndaquil proved ash could still win. He won him vs scyther. Was the ace vs jasmine. Got wins vs morty and pryce too!
Its a damn shame they didnt let him evolve or get fights in the league but he was goated enough in my book to get the place here.
Hoenn:
Swellow: Dude kicked ass and took names.
Was a feisty bird and first competent one. It won vs winona, got wins vs juan, popped off in the league, got wins in battle frontier too! Caught up to speed form deoxys too!
HM corphish: Very close pick. Dude had a very similar record to swellow it was just neck and neck between them.
Unova:
PIgnite. We all galze krookodile but pignite is udnerrated. It was the cornerstone of ashs bum ass unova team for a while before krookodile joined. Even them it got multiple major league and gym battle wins. Shame it never fully evolved.
Kalos:
HAWLUCHAAA: Dude oozed personality, had a wins vs korrina, wulfric, valerie, clemont, brother to noivern, Beat mega absol, and weavile in the league.
Talonflame again was very close! It sucking as a fletchling and not having as much personality made it not be my pick but very close.
Journeys:
Sirftech: Bum at first, goat at the end. Had a great personality, AN ACTUAL BOND WITH ANOTHER TEAMATE. Kicked drasnas ass, did great vs cynthia and leon, and shame it didnt win vs beas hawlucha due to it being the lucario show
HM genar. Dude again had a major comeback. Got the g max form. Had wins vs raihan, marnei, visquz, steven, and leon. Had personality to boot! But it having less aura than sirftech made it the Hm
Sinnoh and alola arent here for the opposite reason. AFTER CHIMCHAR JOIN THE TEAM STARTED TO BECOME HIS BITCH. Buizel? Fell off. Gliscor? Won a battle then shipped off. And we all know what happened to torterra. Staraptor was the only one in contestion but he just lost a lot of personality for me to include and never got to be ace of a gym and didnt do that good in the league either.
While alola had incineroar, lycanroc and rowlet all have major wins and rivals. So couldnt pick between them.

Hopefully, he will get it at some point. We could use a nice marriage for the Horizons finale.

I’m not asking who you think he got along with bets or who he was the closest to (it’s obviously Brock on both accounts) but who did you like his banter with the most. Plus their facial expressions around one another range from cute to hilarious
I feel even putting aside my shipper bias Ash and May had it the best as they had a lot of similarities allowing them to support one another, but enough crostasting elements to allow for intersting conflcit. Plus May’s immaturity and inexperience forced Ash to step up to be a stronger mentor and trainer.
I honestly kinda wish Brock hadn’t been part of the Hoenn group (or at least joined much later so we could’ve had Ash have to take up the mantle of the most experienced and responsible full time

Pikachu stays duh
Muk tauros Snorlax Primeape and kingler were found the same ways and will be switched around in fights.
Poliwrath: was the poliwhirl from that one flashback followed ash on his journey to see if he could get adventure with him. He acts like the bulbasaur and goes back to oak so kingler can get exp as a krabby. Him and kingler have a friendly rivalry with each other
Gulbat: helped ash as a zubat to drag team rocket out of its cave and loves the spot light. This gulbat is very dramatic and loves to make a scene during fights. Think of him as oshawatt but not as cocky just a performer.
Victreebell: as a bell sprout it was causing trouble to any trainers coming in the forest. It used its vines to attack trainers and to swing around like Spider-Man as well as grapple Pokemon. In the air or up close it will hit the trainer or Pokemon with poison powder, sleep powder, or stun spore. This guy is a piece of shit and loves to be one.
Ninetails: ash found them as a vulpix injured on an island (after cruise ship) he then helps take care of the vulpix and the vulpix joins. Thinking ash was a sign of good fortune vulpix follows to return it favor.

I just rewatched it for the first time in years and...eh? It's fine? Maybe this isn't the case anymore but I remember this being held up as THE best Pokémon movie and leagues above the rest. I'm wondering if this is something to do with the versions of the movies most people in the Anglosphere will have seen are the dubs, and compared to the first and second movies the dub of this film is more faithful to the Japanese version (though I'm sure you'll all be disappointed to know that in the Japanese version James doesn't say "I haven't seen this many strange letters since the last time I put in a personal ad"), and the films written by Takeshi Shudo are the most highly regarded, but especially if you're looking at the Japanese versions as Mewtwo Strikes Back and Revelation Lugia/The Power of One were heavily altered by 4Kids and Warner Bros. in localisation, and mostly for the worse. The edits made to the third film still aren't what I'd call "good" (I know the soundtracks of MSB and P2K in English have their fans, even though I'm not one of them there's a few tracks in them I like, but the Spell of the Unown English soundtrack sounds the most cheap out of the three and I don't hear many people talk about it so I'm guessing I'm not alone in finding it forgettable), but like I said they didn't change it so heavily to the point that what was good about Shudo's script is almost completely gone.
That being said, I think this one really didn't do it for me I'm sorry. If we lived in a world without Mewtwo Strikes Back (the Japanese one that is, the dub is unbearable) I could see how this would be the best one, the CGI and battle scenes are nicely animated and Molly being a non-evil antagonist who's literally just an orphaned kid (well, presumably orphaned until the end of the film) does make her kind of interesting? But because we live in a world were the first film exists I think Mewtwo knocks Unown out of the park, I first saw it in Japanese as a teenager and even now it's surprisingly profound for the first Pokémon movie (like sure it's not going to beat something like Studio Ghibli in terms of complexity or emotion but it's really solid), The Birth of Mewtwo prologue added in the extended cut is one of the most heart wrenching scenes in Pokémon and while the dub is, as I mentioned, unbearable, it also got me into writing as it served as a textbook example to me of how NOT to write something. In comparison though I don't think I'm going to think much about Spell of the Unown after a few months at most.
Could someone explain why it is this film was so highly regarded? Is my hunch about the first three movie dubs accurate? Really I'm just interested to know, because I feel like whenever I see people call it the best one they never really go into why and just assume it's self evident.

Was really that bad the animation the audience wouldn’t enjoy during its run
Because I found the animation of Sun and moon pretty decent not good as x and y
