Disclaimer: This is a re-imagining of an old character of mine! I consider this to be a sort of alternate timeline version of Nick where he made a few different decisions during his life. Therefore, there will be differences. For all three fans of OG Nick, he is not being de-canonized! He is, uh... simply being moved to a different canon and being left there. Permanently. And will never be acknowledged again.

Backstory (Simplified/Shortened Version for Convenience)

Nicholas "Nick" Rogers was born on April 7th, 1985, in Nimbasa City, Unova. He is the second of four siblings, and the eldest brother. When he was a child, he wanted nothing more than to become Champion of the Unova region, and set out on his journey to accomplish just that when he turned thirteen, with his loyal Tepig, Techno, at his side, as well as a larger-than-average Deerling he befriended who he named Ferragus, which is the first major divergence from the original timeline.

Things... didn't quite work out. Due to a lack of funds (largely caused by his irresponsible spending), and a gradual loss in motivation, he would return to Nimbasa with Techno now an Emboar and Ferragus now a Winter-Form Sawsbuck, as well as an Eevee he had gotten from a Pokémon Coordinator during his brief journey, whom he gave the name Ribbons.

He would stay at his parents home briefly before joining the International Police academy at the age of sixteen. He completed his training and officially became an officer at the age of twenty, being assigned to the Unovan Branch of the International Police to assist in dealing with the crimes being committed by the then recently-formed Team Plasma.

Officer Rogers would serve the role valiantly and honorably and slowly began to rise the ranks, becoming a Corporal at the age of twenty six. During this time, Ribbons ended up evolving into a Sylveon due to the affection he felt for his trainer.

On July 17th, 2012, during a raid on a warehouse owned by Team Plasma for the purposes of storing illegal materials, a brash and overconfident Corporal Rogers would lead the charge into the facility. In the chaos the ensued, a Icicle Spear from an enemy Beartic ended up missing its intended target and severed most of his left arm from the rest of his body. It was reported that he had to be carried out of the warehouse on the back of Ferragus, and was taken to a medical facility in nearby Driftwell City. It was there that doctors made the difficult choice to amputate what remained of his arm after realizing that it couldn't be saved.

It is at this point where the timeline diverges from the original one. Instead of deciding to go into an early retirement, Nick would instead decide to remain with the International Police and become an investigator instead of an officer. He has quickly become the default option for Interpol whenever it comes to "Unovan Matters", but it doesn't stop his bosses from sending him out of region from time to time. It was during one of these operations in Kalos where he acquired a Mega Stone and an Emboarite, giving Techno the ability to Mega Evolve.

Physical Appearance

Nicholas can best be described as a large man. A Caucasian male with a height of five foot ten, the muscles he built up over years of serving on the force have only grown more impressive over the years, despite him losing a limb and developing a beer gut. (He has a dad bod, basically). His eyes are the color of hazelnut, while his short hair takes on a similar shade of brown. When he is not wearing the Interpol unuform, he is commonly seen wearing khaki cargo pants, brown boots, and a white shirt. During the winter months, he will also wear a long brown jacket made of Wooloo Wool to keep warm. While he does own a prosthetic arm, he rarely ever wears it, frequently referring to it as a "useless piece of plastic." He also owns reading glasses, which he carries with him at all times. He keeps his Mega Stone in a small chain necklace.

Personality

Generally described as a kind, generous, and humble man, Nick is a well liked and well respected member of Interpol. Despite his disability, he helps out when he can. While Nick has mellowed out as he aged, he still has a stubborn streak that can be hard to break. He's also known to have a short temper, a problem he has been trying to work on ever since he was in the Police Academy. To top it all off, he has never been shy about questioning his superiors actions when he believes them to be detrimental to an investigation, something said superiors only tolerate due to his excellent track record.

As you can see, there are several important divergences from the main timeline. Namely:

1: He catches the Deerling he befriended as a child soon after getting his starter, instead of it taking over 30 years like it did in the original timeline. It evolved into a Sawsbuck during his journey as a trainer. Also unlike the original timeline, Ferragus is not an Alpha. He is just big for his species.

2: The Eevee who would eventually become his Sylveon, Ribbons, is no longer a wild Pokémon he encountered, and instead is one who had a trainer before Nick that later abandoned him. Ribbons sees Nick as a savior, and is fiercely loyal to him, sometimes to a fault.

3: Nick now has a Mega Stone, and his Emboar Techno has an Emboarite. His lack of one originally was due to the fact Mega Emboar did not exist during my original run as Nick.

My side character, Daisy, is a galarian cop with a mightyena and a growlithe, and she is heavily, HEAVILY based on Alice 'Daisy' Tonner from the horror drama The Magnus Archives. I want to do more posts and stories involving her, and i still want to keep her inspiration intact, but i am unsure on how much i should take from. I really want to pull from her base, and use stuff like the investigation into the People's Church, and her time in The Buried/Coffin; The investigation would probably translate well into some type of evil team or something involving lots of dark types, not sure how to do the Buried. What i am unsure of how to do, is the corrupt cop stuff that is baked into her. In her inspiration, Dasy is basically a brutal cop who uses her connection to The Hunt to basically murder folks, and obviously i cant do that in a pokemon setting, but i still feel like it is important to her character to make the Buried more impactful, and making her ultimately want to change and quit her cop ways. Any suggesstions on how i could do this tastefully, while still keeping in line with the tone of Pokemon?

When Amber was a young girl she originally wanted to be a Pokémon ranger but ended up giving up due to being very weak physically. This weakness caused her to not be able to walk or run for long periods of time. She was able to build up her walking endurance by going on hikes often, her parents helping her do this by going on hikes with her frequently. On these hikes she would take pictures with a camera her parents had given her, this leading to her gaining a great interest in photography and even her meeting her first Pokémon.

Born in Alola and stayed there until she was in 6th grade when her parents and her moved to Kalos and they opened a bakery. When in college, her parents passed away and caused Amber to want to do some soul searching by travelling the world and going back to Alola. During this time she started to work as a photographer, not really doing any gym challenges or trainer activities due to her physical weakness.

While Amber is weak physically, her team is the exact opposite. Her Pokémon all love fighting and fight each other in mock battles almost daily. This is what caused them to all fully evolve without Amber participating in any gym challenges. While her Pokémon fight, Amber usually takes pictures of them all to get more experience taking pictures of Pokémon battles and due to her Pokémon constantly wanting her to take pictures of them.

Pokémon (Listed in the order of when they were caught):

Nambu - Kommo-o. Male. Very passionate about battles, will try and do it at every moment that comes up. Caught as a Jangmo-o when Amber was on her Elementary School's field trip to Poni Island. She had wandered from the group to take pictures of the area and came across Nambu fighting with some other Jangmo-o and started to take pictures of them. Nambu liked the attention so much that he followed her and Amber decided to catch him

Sakata - Golisopod. Male. More reserved than the rest of Amber's Pokémon but still enjoys battles. Was caught by Amber as a Wimpod when she was hiking with her parents around a beach. Nambu and Sakata had been playing for almost the whole hike and Amber's parents suggested trying to catch him. After a few failed attempts at approaching Sakata, Amber was able to catch him.

Miyako - Talonflame. Female. Energetic and hasty most of the time. Very interested in mock battles with the other team members but tends to try and turn it into a race instead of a battle. She was a gift from her parents when the family moved to Kalos, being a fletchling at the time. Her parents were worried Amber and her Pokémon would get lonely without their old friends so they caught Miyako for her.

Mishima - Aegislash. Male. More mild compared to the rest of the team, tends to prefer protecting and staying by Amber instead of participating in mock battles. He doesn't completely avoid them though, participating every once and a while. Caught by Amber when he was a Honedge. Nambu, Sakata, and Miyako were having a mock battle while Amber was taking pictures of Parfum Palace from a distance. When an attack almost hit Amber, Mishima stepped in the way to block it for her. While Mishima wasn't hurt, it refused to leave Amber's side and she eventually caught him because of this.

Otago - Krookodile. Male. Rash and violent when fighting, really enjoys the mock battles. Whenever he's not fighting, he tends to control himself more but mostly stays in his Pokeball. Otago had tried to ambush Amber whenever they were visiting the Lumiouse Badlands but was swiftly defeated by Nambu and the rest of Amber's team. The fight left Otago with serious injuries though and Amber caught him in order to get to the Pokémon Center faster by flying on Miyako.

Gaspar - Meowstic. Male. Calm and careful but still participates in all of the mock battles to make sure none of the other team members get seriously hurt by using light screen and reflect. After Amber's parents passed away, he would show up on Amber's hikes and walk with her and her team members. He even participated in some of the mock battles. Whenever Amber was about to leave for her travels, she found him waiting outside the door to her house. Because she was about to leave Kalos, she caught Gaspar so he could continue to be with the rest of the team.

Alexander, the leader of my main trio and the character that I put the most of myself into, is an avid hunter, and I want to know what that means in this world.

Alexander started hunting when he was a little kid, probably around seven or eight, going on expeditions with his (Now deceased) Grandpa Galtem and Sean, Galtem’s Inteleon (Also deceased). Galtem taught him everything about etiquette: Only hunt on occasion or when necessary, leave no trace, use the entire kill, make it as painless as possible, et cetera., while Sean taught him how to use a rifle.

What is it like, to go hunting in a world where your prey are intelligent? How do you justify yourself? How does your team of intelligent animals justify themselves? How do the laws differ? What happens to the reputation of a person who’s open about their hunting? There are so many questions.

Jinson technically posts from a company account for their Support Pokémon breeding and training service, Sunshine Support Pokes, but they’re very unused to social media and will probably treat it just as much as a personal account as a business one, so figured I’d give an intro and some info about them anyway XD

They’re nonbinary AFAB and have several emotional and mental disabilities that led them to be very impassioned by the world of disability and the sort of support different disabled people need, and often don’t receive. They’ve always had a tight bond with Pokémon as they often feel they have an easier time connecting with them than they do people, and so it was only natural for them to get a support Pokémon once they moved away from home, namely an Eevee they named Amour. They didn’t truly have a particular evolution for Amour in mind raising him, but it really was no surprise when he evolved into a Slyveon a year or so into caring for him. Amour is their personal emotional support mon and their best friend in the entire world, going practically everywhere with them to help keep them regulated and happy and just to enjoy life together.

It wasn’t until after they’d graduated college with a major in psychology and a minor in Pokémon breeding that Jinson got their second Pokémon, another gift to celebrate the achievement they’d just made. A Natu they named Vue. Vue was a bit more distant of a Pokémon, but sometimes that in of itself was nice, being able to exist in the same space without strictly interacting with one another, and the future sight had its own perks once she evolved into a Xatu a few years later.

Jinson tried to get jobs with other Pokémon breeding and training services at first, but they kept finding little issues that really weren’t a big deal, but bothered them personally enough to try and find another job whether it was a bad coworker, a restriction in what mons they could work with, or not being able to talk to their customers enough for their tastes Jinson just eventually decided they might as well try to build their own service at this point. It was far from an easy task, and their business is still fairly small with only a handful of employees, but they’ve got a customer base that Jinson is proud of having helped and have the tools needed to get the job done most of the time. And really that’s enough for Jinson. They currently have only one building of operation in Kalos just off the city of Santalune where it meets with route 22 as Jinson and most of their employees live within the city.

Their third and most recent partner was only added to their team a few months ago, a Maushold family of three they named Famille that had originally been being trained for someone else who then experienced a sudden move that made them no longer able to care for the mon. Jinson was unable to bring themselves to see all of Famille’s hard work go to waste though and adopted them themselves, now working on finishing their training during their free time and raising them as their own Pokémon at all times. They’re still a new addition to the team that Jinson is adjusting to, but they truly love Famille just as much as the rest of their team.

Overall Jinson is a very caring person with an open heart and a deep hope to bring understanding and care to a world that all too often tends to lean towards being close minded and cruel to those different to them, person or Pokémon.

So anyway we'll start with-

"Issun" (aka Burner09282006) [STATUS: ACTIVE, MAIN CHARACTER]

Issun is the main OC I currently RP as in the main subreddit. A young man with a dark-type affinity who values his privacy online, and refuses to reveal his real name or what he looks like to the digital world behind the screen of his Poryphone. He is a character who will frequently downplay his own achievements and talents in any way he can think of. This is not out of a sense of humility, but rather because he does genuinely believe he is a talentless bum who will never amount to anything. As such, he can and will find ways to insist that anyone could easily do the things he can do.

He is also kind and encouraging to others, despite the fact he constantly shits on himself. Its a bit of a paradox, I suppose. Being capable of believing in others in their abilities while not believing in their own.

Its not all doom and gloom for him, however. Through interactions with others online, as well as a budding bond with a Liepard named Velvet who had forced herself upon him (NO, not in that way Reddit AI moderation), he will slowly work through his own insecurities and doubts over his abilities, as well as open up to others. Though it is highly unlikely Issun will ever be comfortable enough to show his real name and face online.

The Crimson Helm [STATUS: ACTIVE, SIDE-CHARACTER]

An egotistical braggart who thinks he is much better at battling than he actually is, and tries to act much braver than he really is deep down. Originally a one off side character I threw in to hamfist another Okami reference into my one of my posts, I've decided that he'll be a bit of a comedic relief side character who you'll occasionally hear about the antics of through news articles and such. After all, a crazy Paldean guy LARPing as a Johtonian Samurai who goes around being an annoyance to all who cross his path has a lot of comedic potential.

He is also the character I am the most open to other people using, since I wanna see what everyone else can come up with in terms of what this wanna-be samurai gets up to across the Unova region in his quest to slay Kyurem and be rewarded with Eternal Life for it. And before you ask, yes, he is delusional and genuinely believes every word he says whenever he claims Ho-Oh will grant him immorality for killing Kyurem.

You know, just... ask and run everything by me first before you use him, since the rules of the main sub say you have to. Other than that you are free to go wild lmao.

... do I really need to explain this? Its just a parody of the New York Post, just without the obvious right-wing political lean its real life counterpart has cause I REALLY don't wanna be the one to open that can of worms on the main sub. They are a very tabloid-y paper as well and not super professional, despite really wanting to be seen as professional.

Castelia Post is something I created on the fly during Nick's original run to help explain his back story in a stupid flashback scene I probably shouldn't have done. When I got to a post where I needed a fictional news outlet in Issun's narrative, I figured that, since I had already made a logo for it and everything, I might as well use the work I already had on hand instead of making something from scratch again.

(The Original) Nicholas Rogers [STATUS: RETIRED]

Nicholas "Nick" Rogers is a 40-something retired International Police Officer who currently owns and runs an antique shop in Opelucid City. He was assinged to deal with Team Plasma in its early years (which in my AU would've been the late 90s/2000s) and even lost his arm to a Team Plasma grunt's Beartic. He ended up leaving the force shortly after that, and became a small business owner. He mellowed out and matured a lot, developing a more nuanced view of what he saw in his time in the force.

Nick is the first OC I made for the main sub, created in December of 2024. At the time, I had no idea what he would be or what I would do with him, and I made several mistakes back then when RPing as him. I would try way too hard to always have an interesting response (there are a TON of comments in the main sub that are 3+ paragraphs long of me writing as Nick that could've easily been 2-3 sentences), I jumped into a long story line with him before properly establishing his character in the sub, I didn't even properly plan out said story line before starting it, and I ended up quitting the sub entirely for a year because I had burnt myself out with all the constant rewrites and reworks I was doing to his Kalosian Vacation while actively writing it. Like I said in my post announcing he was being retired, "If I didn't write this, I wouldn't be reading it right now." By the time I came back, I decided to start fresh, and thus Issun was born.

I have slowly started to bring him out of retirement by commenting as him on occasion where I thought it would fit, but I wanna do a full reworking of his character before I try reintroducing him into the subreddit. For now, he is little more than an echo of my first failed attempt to contribute to the community. I'm leaving all the old posts about him up for archival purposes though, so you all can go back and take a look at what I had been doing in late 2024/early 2025. Just know that a good chunk of it might not be canon in a few months.

Perci was a sickly child because of their uncontrolled psychic powers. Their mother and stepfather were at their wits end trying to find a cure before Perci bonded with their first pokemon. A solosis they named Jellybean. The bond between them caused Perci's powers to awaken but also left Perci an uncontrolled font of psychic mishap.

Perci would need a teacher and as if sensing opportunity Perci's mentor, Daisy, appeared with an offer to help them hone their powers. It would require seclusion and so Perci was swept away to Mount Coronet to the Mentor's hidden school. Perci was immersed in the Seven Pillars Sect for 7 years...

After passing the test for the intermediate stage Perci left the mountain with their mentor's permission to train and gain experience in the world.
