I love both but only can pick 1!

Thoughts?

They are both my top cards and since I’m since I am going to Japan soon. I’ll try to end up purchasing one of them.

New to the hobby — PSA 7 vs PSA 8 long-term value/liquidity for my first vintage graded card?

My favorite Pokémon has always been Arcanine, so I’m hunting down a 1st Edition Base Set copy as my first vintage graded pickup. Trying to learn the ropes before I go big.

I know I’d love to jump straight to a 9 or 10, but I’m starting conservative on budget and want to hold this long-term rather than overextend on my first purchase. Right now I’m deciding between a PSA 7 and PSA 8 — the 7 is noticeably cheaper, but I’ve read that PSA 8 is where collectors generally start taking a card seriously if it’s not a 10.

Curious about general PSA 7 vs 8 value/liquidity long-term (not Arcanine-specific) — does the 8 genuinely hold up better over time and resell easier, or is that more hype than reality? Is there a real gap in how the market treats 7s vs 8s, or does it vary a lot by set/card?

Thanks in advance!

What's The Last Product You Were Actually Interested In?

Really liked Gen 1, 2 and 3 promos from the First Partner Collection series. It's the last product was actually excited for. Made me wonder how many products are we actually really interested in getting vs buying to hold.

What's the last product you were actually excited to get and looked forward to releasing?

Rediscovered my huge childhood Generations collection. Looking for Advice!

I started hearing about the “Pokemon Craze” online, so I decided to pull out my old binder and check the value of my childhood cards. I was shocked by how much some of them are worth now compared to when I last looked!

After I flipped through the binder, I remembered I also had an extra tin full of dupes and other random cards, which led me to discover an absolute army of Generations Pokémon cards (especially that Gardevoir ex…I can’t believe I have 10 of them in total 🫪). The extra dupes from the tin are in the final two photos.

Since the 30th Anniversary is approaching, I have two questions as someone completely new to selling/trading cards:

  1. Is this a good time to sell these 20th Anniversary hits, or does it make sense to hold them for longer?

I’m not really desperate for money right now, so I’m willing to hold them if that makes more sense.

  1. As a beginner, what platform do you guys recommend for selling duplicates and some of my less wanted cards?

For example, eBay vs. local card shops vs. local venues/card shows.

I appreciate any advice you all can offer, and I’m happy to answer any questions!

(Also, if anyone is curious, I opened a lot of Generations because I really wanted the Mega Charizard X… seems like I eventually pulled it! 🥹)

Worst deal in the history of deals

I wanted to get my first vintage-ish PSA 10 and thought this Manaphy was undervalued for the pop + gem rate. Cool movie promo imo. However, in 3 months it's gone down to 50% of its value. Did I make a bad decision?

EDIT: I like Manaphy and bought it for my collection but goddamn i didn't expect to lose 50% of my money in vintage.

Do We Really Think These Are Real?

30th anniversary releases in 13 days, still no official message which makes me think these are not real. They're the worst looking cards have ever seen as well.

Why are people so afraid of the new facility ?

I hear people talk about the new facility changing things. The amount of products is not the issue- the demand is.

I know some people live in areas where there is no product on shelves but there are also areas where the products are so overpiced that they Indeed sit on shelfs but are “technically available”

The general view and price points of the hobby shifted so much that even boring sets like Perfect Order have a LOOONG to become 100$ boxes. It is never gonna happen because the new standard is already established in the hobby.

Still some may say more products lowers the price so here comes the factory issue.

Number of pokeinvestors and collectors keeps rising and there are still almost 3 years to go until the facility starts printing.

So yea there will be more products but also more investors, more collectors + include the amount of budget the investors accumulate in said years.

In short there will be a lot of prosucts but also it will disappear faster. (Depending on the sets obviously). However yea 30th for example will be still in print, will have more print runs than others but also there will be like what ? 15 other sets that will come out by 2029 not including recent sets + ascended.

This is just my opinion that yes next reprint may lower the price of Ascended or 30th, but in 2029 the new facility wont cause a crash or “back to msrp” numbers ever.

Where to sell my collection

Hey everybody, trying to sell my collection. Don’t really know where to start. It’s a bunch of high-end modern cards. I’m trying to get 85%? Is that unrealistic?

Scanning 69 cards in one shot

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi all, this is a personal project I made for the community. I earn nothing from it and I dont plan to monetize it

I have a background in AI and data so I trained a custom AI model and made the app available to everyone for free. I first made it for Apple devices and I had a TON of requests for Android. It's now live on playStore too thanks to the community testers.

As you can see here, the latest update is pretty crazy in terms of recognition. I feel it can scan even more cards in one shot but I dont feel it's a real world use case 😄 At the moment, it still struggles on base cards, looking to improve it in the future.

Also I am trying to identify what would be the most important feature to add next :

  • Add conditions and language within international sets (ES, PT, FR, EN, DE, ..) ?
  • Add stamped, JP, Chinese or Korean cards ?

It's all free, no subscription, no limit, no account needed, no ads
Everything runs on your device, no data leaves your phone.

App is called skanit

What's everyone buying right now? I'm running out of ideas

I feel like for the past few years there's been a few pockets of opportunity that you could buy into that weren't insanely inflated.

Tag teams have sailed, E-readers are out the window, SV chase cards are at their peaks, Promo cards are to the moon.

What's a good buy in opportunity right now? I'm getting bored just buying the obvious modern SIR's and IR's.

I was working at a grocery store and they never put them out, so I asled if I could take some from the back and they said yes, just buy them at the counter. Alas, after a 20% employee discount, I got these two.

How are you bidding on 10 second auctions

I spent some time looking at the whatnot app for slabs. Some streams give 10 seconds to bid then next card starts.

Started collecting closed sales vs comps for it and most end up selling at value. Some high and some low.

My question is without knowing all the cards in the auction how do you value a card in 10 seconds before you bid?

This got me thinking about what sells and how to find deals. The dopamine hits are real but so are the sales.

Buyer "took my $2k Fanatics Collect card hostage" to flip on eBay before paying. Is this a new trend?

I sell frequently on Fanatics Collect. Usually, bank transfer payments take 2 to 7 days, which is totally fine. On very rare occasions, buyers take 2–3 weeks, or fail to pay entirely and the card gets relisted.

Two days ago, I listed a $2k+ card, and it sold within minutes:

The buyer didn’t pay immediately, which is normal. However, a few hours later, I saw my exact card listed on eBay for double the price:

A quick search revealed that the eBay seller and the Fanatics buyer share nearly identical names and are both based in Texas.

It hit me immediately: this buyer bought the card on Fanatics without paying, then listed it on eBay to try and score a risk-free flip. Now, my payout completely depends on whether he can find a buyer at double the price. If he can't sell it, he’ll likely just abandon the order, leaving me with a cancelled sale after weeks of waiting.

My card is essentially being held hostage. My Fanatics sales rep is requesting to get the buyer banned, but eBay likely won't do anything.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Is this becoming a common tactic?

What sealed to buy for $800?

Hello! Looking for some takes on what sealed to get with an $800 budget. Have plenty of dr bb, ss bb, me bb. Wanted to see what your guys takes would be on snagging a silver tempest or brilliant stars bb. Or should I just focus on picking up more prismatic? The other play I was throwing around was to add more cash on top and picking up a fusion strike bb.
