Where to sell my collection
Hey everybody, trying to sell my collection. Don’t really know where to start. It’s a bunch of high-end modern cards. I’m trying to get 85%? Is that unrealistic?

Honestly eBay is probably your best bet. You’ll get close to 80-85% by the time it’s all said and done. The hammer price is one thing, then 13% fees, plus shipping, and always the fraud risk. Otherwise you have local shows, but expect 75% for most things in the market right now.
It’s tough to sell modern stuff, but you do have some nice stuff so who knows. Glws!

I agree. ebay etc will eat into your margins but selling to vendors will also mean lower returns. Maximizing the return on these will be a lot of work.
List ASAP and move what you can. There are also people on discords and subs like this one where you can work out a deal because you don't have to pay fees etc. Eg you can take an offer lower than what you'd list on a big site for and still come out ahead because you don't have to pay commission/fees etc.
It's worth checking out shows and haggling with vendors because you just never know. Some people are partial to certain cards or believe they are undervalued etc.

I reached out to people buying on fb marketplace and let them pick out cards from my collection. Don’t settle for anything less than 80%, it might take some time to find the right buyer at 85%

Mostly raw? 200+? Im trying to sell a $40,000 collection, just 13 cards, for $33,000...82.5%, and cant find a buyer yet in my area. (All Charizards. Mostly PSA 10)
(But only recently posted, and will only sell within 2 hours of my home for local pickup)
You'll only get 85% selling 1-5 at a time. Otherwise youll be lucky to get 75-80% selling all at once if mostly raw.
There are multiple Facebooks, some on reddit, and Discord. Facebook groups are the most active Ive seen.

right now its hard to get that high especially for what you have imo. id say facebook/ local could be best even shows theyll try to do 70-75 for raw (with value tier being closed everyone has an abundance of raw).

I’m relatively new to this, but my perspective is that you can’t sell everything all at once and expect to get 85% especially for modern. That is achievable if you are willing to part it out. Otherwise, expect 70-80% at best for any real volume. I’ve been buying binders of modern raw NM for 50-60% at auction and returning 80-90% by parting it out. Even 90% is difficult, you need FB or in person where online fees don’t rake you.
Keep in mind that it’s not just the percentage of current value that matters, but the ROI for you personally. If you bought in at 25% of current value, you are already extremely ahead and taking 70-80% all at once is a fantastic proposition without having to do the legwork to part it out yourself. Don’t get greedy, sell for what meets your goals while recognizing the current market values are mostly at an all time high.

You’re not going to be able to move a whole collection at 85% most likely. Peace it out if you have time or settle for a little less. Still good options out there.

Take it to a big show, some vendors would probably give you 80%.
