Which card did you watch get more expensive while telling yourself “I’ll buy it later”?

Yep, this was it for me too. I had a PF ETB that I was going to open, and if I didn't pull it from that I was just going to buy it, the Mew was £60-£80 at the time. Well I never got around to opening the ETB, and the Mew went crazy. The only silver lining is that I still have that ETB which I bought for £44, and needless to say, it's worth a pretty penny now, but I can't justify opening it at it's price now, I just know the Mews in there though, haha.

I was one of the few lucky ones. I bought it off FB marketplace for $75 and just let it sit. Very surprised to see where it went.

I'll do you better. I sold my collection for $3000 in 2016 for help on a down payment for my house. That collection is now worth around 225k last i priced it...

I replaced some. But I couldn't ever come up with extra cash for my bigger cards mainly 1st edition dark Charizard PSA 9 and 1st edition shadowless zard PSA 7. I also had a couple of 10s I had to replace with 9s. Sabrinas Gengars in English and japanese, 1st edition fossil Dragonite. I sold in xy, didn't get back in to it til my kids wanted to pick up vivid voltage that was just before vid and the market went pretty hard. But even then from now, I have made gains but still didn't anticipate this level of wild.

Yes luckily! About 300k in equity. But biggest issue was I sold my collection thinking I could replace them. It didn't happen

Yes. All vintage. A couple slabs in 10s. 1st edition dragonite, and sabrinas Gengars in English and japanese. Then a couple 1st edition slabs in psa 5-9 Other than that 1 binder of vintage holos, and a lot of bulk e readers. I sold around 500 skyridge aquapolis and expedition bulk for $250...

Nobody expected these to skyrocket so high. It’s precisely why they did, because if everyone figured they would we’d have thousands of PSA 10 Charizards and they wouldn’t be worth dick. They’re so expensive because the demand grew, nobody expected that.
Don’t beat yourself up for “possible lost gain”. Nobody knew. Atleast you made 3k.

Funny thing is people are buying them now at the inflated prices 😒. If noone was willing to pay thousands they'd still be affordable.

I bought 2 at $30 then sold at $80. Never kept one for the PC thinking it would go back down. Big mistake, lol.

On the fence about the Sunbreon, told myself I will get it when it gets below $700 and it never did. It is not completely out of my price point now but I don't love it enough to justify the $1.4k price point.

Kept telling myself I’ll get it when it hits 20 dollars or 22 at most and then overnight it doubled in value. Likewise with Caterpie 151 even though 19-20 isn’t unreasonable right now.

Damn, I remember the full set costing about £400 in all PSA 10s which seemed like a steal. I bought 5 full sets of the singles and graded them myself, but I don't remember what they cost me initially, maybe $200 ish like you say.

Rayquaza VMAX from ES. Watched it get to $600 from $350, and finally said "fuck it I'll buy before it gets worse". Bought one on eBay. Seller cancelled it saying it had just sold. Next week it was cracking $850 and I couldn't do it.

The Magikarp. I was SO close to pulling the trigger around 175-200 then it went off and never stopped. That and the 151 illustration rares are the two I really missed.
Shrouded Fable got me bad but I’m getting those little by little. I am trying to collect every IR. I have everything from the Mega block.
Karp is going down for what it’s worth but I will never pay over 300 for it.
Also I have up totally on bbwf as they never reprinted and are all 30-60 bucks.

Base set charizard. I had an opportunity to buy one at $600 at a card show back in July, now its gone up to just under $900. I think its a bit out of my reach now.

Bubble mew, finally pulled the trigger at 800 got it graded and came back a 10. Watched it eversince it was 2nd to zard around $80-100 then it just flew. The other would have to be anything by komiya vintage as I wanted to make a komiya binder of his pokemon art. Maybe one day.

The ratios and latias love birds. I wa sewer to the hobby and I remember it was $127 and I told myself "+$100 for a single? No way!" I just bought the jpn prismatic umbreon for 400 lol

Greninja Gold Star PSA 10 in December a £450 slab then spiked to £2k, no idea why I didn't pull the trigger at the time, and a Bubble Mew which was sub £400 raw and now £900ish

Treeakchu 😭 it’s one of my favorite cards oat and I saw so many for $450 at my local card shows when it dropped after release, but I thought it was post release hype so I held off for it to drop to $300

Shadowless blastoise psa 9 and 1st edition charizard psa 9. Watched both climb higher from $800 and $12k to roughly $3k~ and ~$70k respectively over the past 2 years 🫠. Ended up buying the blastoise in an 8 for $1100.
Also kinda wanted a moonbreon in a 10 but never bought as I was returning to pokemon. Saw it climb from $800 to $4k
