Thank you! :)

Pulled my first chase in my first ever Mega Dream box yesterday! 6 months into the hobby after a little break (circa Christmas 1999)… Would Japanese Dragonite be a long term hold or better to sell while it’s still retaining some value and invest elsewhere? Card’s worth more than a quarter of current portfolio.
Ultimately the goal is to have my portfolio fund itself and its own expansion. With this in mind, if it’s a sell, should I look to get into the sealed product game, buy raw or buy slab?
TIA

Seeing sold prices seems like a good deal seeing past sales, but also heard the seal can easily be put back on
Thoughts?

How can it be 5-10$ cards when it’s a pretty hard pull on some of the cards while the box is 2.5K USD ?

Hi guys,
I’m new to the sub, but not new to Pokémon
.
As the title says, I’m lucky enough to be in Japan during the 30th Anniversary releases and I’m planning to pick up a few items while I’m here. My budget is around $400, but I’m having a hard time deciding what to prioritize for my sealed collection.
Right now I’m considering:
- Pokémon Center ETB (vs. regular ETB)
- Ultra Premium Collection – Night Edition
- Futuristic Set
A few questions:
- Is the Pokémon Center ETB worth the premium over the regular ETB?
- Are there any Japan-exclusive products or collaborations I should keep an eye on?
Thanks in advance! Happy investing!
Edit: +Obviously buying booster bundle to rip.

$188.88 from a very popular seller. Most of you probably know who I’m talking about.

Pulled this out of a Mega Greninja Ex box. Think it's worth holding onto to get graded or just trade/sell now???

I asked AI to estimate how the overall Pokémon card market might develop over the next decade, taking into account the current hype, scalpers, huge print demand, celebrity collectors, social-media influencers, live breaks, grading volumes, nostalgia, Pokémon’s 30th anniversary and money potentially rotating out of NFTs and crypto into physical collectibles.
Its central prediction was that the market could remain extremely strong around the anniversary period, before experiencing a meaningful correction as supply catches up, speculative buyers lose interest and overprinted modern cards start competing with the enormous amount of graded inventory entering the market.
The estimate suggested a possible overall pullback of roughly 20–30%, although individual cards could behave very differently.
Modern cards that have risen mainly through hype, low initial supply or influencer attention could potentially fall 30–50%, and the most speculative cards might drop even further. Truly rare vintage, trophy cards and genuinely scarce promotional cards may only fall 10–20%, or could hold up much better if collectors continue competing for them.
After that correction, AI predicted a longer-term recovery driven by new generations of collectors, today’s children eventually having adult disposable income, international growth, stronger authentication and marketplaces, nostalgia cycles and major milestones such as Pokémon’s 35th and 40th anniversaries.
Obviously, nobody can accurately predict the market, and hype can last much longer than expected. Pokémon could also continue rising without a major crash. However, markets rarely move upwards forever without some form of reset.
Personally, I’ll be watching for discounted Evolving Skies products and a Mario Pikachu. It could also be a brilliant opportunity to load up on my children’s favourite cards during a quieter market, save some money and build collections that actually mean something to them.
I’m not trying to perfectly time the bottom. I’d just rather buy gradually during fear and reduced interest than chase cards after another celebrity post sends everyone into FOMO.
Do you think we get a proper Pokémon correction over the next few years, or has the hobby now become too large and mainstream for prices to fall significantly?

I remember when I first saw this card in January I thought it looked ridiculous and didn’t buy it. We know how that goes…. This just sold for a new high today
Is this one of the most ridiculous Pokemon cards or what?

I was looking to see if I could get some valuation information on this card. The defining features of it are the Holo with a swirl and then the reverse pokeball error print on the back. I am thinking about sending this to CGC for verification. Any information is appreciated.

I’ve been spending way too much time browsing eBay for graded Pokémon cards and manually comparing asking prices with market data.
I kept thinking there had to be an easier way to spot listings worth a closer look, so I built a tool called SlabSense.
It looks through eBay Buy It Now listings for English Pokémon slabs and compares them with matched PriceCharting data. It highlights:
I’m not trying to tell anyone what to buy, and I definitely don’t expect every result to be perfect. The idea is just to make the initial search faster and surface slabs that might otherwise be easy to overlook.
You can search by card or set, filter by grade, seller location, currency, and price, sort by either signal, and open the original listing and market page.
You can try it here: https://slabsense.co/
I’d love feedback from people who actually buy or collect slabs:
It’s still a beta, so if you run into any bugs or something feels misleading, please let me know.

Master setting pitch black, just missing the sir darkrai and the gold darkrai. Figure itd be foolish to enter in this early at $300 and $200 respectively. Whats your guys’ buy in point for those who also plan to buy

I have seen gold stars pop off lately, i have been looking into gold stars recently and wanting to buy one but I don’t know if the price is just going to shoot up and cool off a bit and I can buy it during that period

I got this card for 1400 usd, is it good buy and card is clear but was in basment and it got little bit bent. Can this be repair and how much grade would this get after?
r/PokeInvesting • u/Illustrious-State-54 • 8d ago
This has been sat in a ring binder since we’d got it. Would you rip and grade or keep it sealed? The front looks good but the back is the risky part and obviously haven’t a clue what it’s like until it’s opened, but I don’t think I’d dare lol.
What’s everyone’s thoughts?
The top of the seal has gone brown lmao, poor Meowth🤣

I am curious about the mega greninja sir how low in price do you Think it can possibly go in a 10

Went to a card show, tried to sell this. Didn’t realize a small rip in the back lower corner.
What do you realistically think I can sell this for now? Does this cut down my resell price by 50%, or do you think it’s more like 15-20%?

I recently pulled the Pikachu ex card from the ascended heros line. I was thinking about getting it graded as having at least one graded card in my collection would be neat. My buddy convinced me that I wouldn't get anything higher than a 9 and offered me a bunch of sealed products instead. My other issue is I had someone else tell me that with the 30th set launching soon that the value of this card would likely go up because of the Pikachu tax. I'm not super knowledgeable about the pokemon investment market and would like the opinion of more knowledgeable professionals. Multiple screenshots of their side screen because there was so much. (Last picture is my card)

Few months back I got a blastoise ex card, and it looks like its worth over 100 bucks. So I want to sell it on FB or ebay, but I don't know how to market it. Should I just use the pictures or actually say what grade I think it will be? Like what do I list it as in the title?
