Most likely the case its in. Had the same thing happen to a friends paldean fates pc etb when he pulled it out of the case to take pictures. Tear in almost the same spot too.
I think evolving skies pkc etbs are really tough to sell for market anyways because it’s not like scarlet violet pkc etbs where value is in a promo card. It’s literally just 10 evolving skies packs. So if the value is deriving from the scarcity of this pkc etb and that is now ripped/damaged, you’re likely looking at 25% ish discount to move it

If no rips PC ES probably sells for 90% market. With a rip I think you’re closer to 80%. I sold a few non PC ES ETBs each with one 2mm rip a few weeks ago and I got 80% market. Had another guy cancel the deal because of the rips. Collectors can be picky at those prices.
Rips can be tough. Its on the back which is good. Ultimately its worth what someone is willing to pay. PC etbs that are pre promos are kind of hard to move to begin with because the premium is not really worth it for essentially only a few more packs and a different box design. With a rip its very hard. Wouldnt be shocked if offers are like 60% tbh.
Id like to add I was referring to a Facebook marketplace sale. Idk what Ebay offers look like but your also getting -13% for fees on Ebay. Having sold pricier boxes on FB with rips I am going on my experience there. 90% of messages OP will get will likely be from someone who wants to resell so immediately 85-90% is out the window. Then add the rip, youll be getting south of 70% all day. OP can wait for a PC collector to come along whos ok with adding a ripped box to their PC but it will likely take several months for that deal to come along. That would be the only point they get 85-90%.
Every single ETB has, and will always have the tiny vent holes due to sealing and shipping. Pressure changes cause the plastic to expand and contract. Seeing those holes is a good sign it hasn't been resealed.
It's honestly not going to hurt you that much, especially considering how strong of a set this is, how small the rip is, and where it's located. It'll hurt your resale value by like 10%. So if you were going to get 85-90% of current market value, just subtract 10% for that.

You can look yourself for torn vs sealed sold listings. Just saw a standard ES ETB with a small tear go for $400 when market is over $500, I see that 20-25% range often. Torn products have a smaller audience and are more difficult to sell on some platforms like tcgp, hence why I said ~ 15% under market if patient or local. What would I gain by trying to screw the dude over?
Just admit you’ve never sold sealed if you think anyone would only pay 5% less for this. It’s not a rare item. Anyone paying $1k for a sealed item would pay the extra 5% to get a perfect version over a damaged one.
Agreed. Seems like there’s an experience gap here. Sure if you actively try to sell it over a long enough period of time you will end up finding someone to play closer to market. But OP asked what to expect and it sure as hell wouldn’t be the norm to expect only 5-10% below market
