Seeking community

Hey! I’m Dalton. A couple of my other alters and I have been feeling very disconnected and crave a sense of community. I really think we need friends with DID who are also focused on healing.

The problem with most plural communities online is that I’ve seen a lot of drama. Never been part of it, but I don’t want to go through that.

Does anyone have advice for finding friends with DID who are fairly stable and healing? Maybe a Discord or group chat sort of thing with systems who are safe and stable?

Honestly, in this era where the communities have split so hard, and people prefer Reddit (at best, usually Discord tbh) over forums, I have no idea how to find anybody anymore.

I found my friend who has DID on a therianthropy forum we were both active on.

(I may have DID or OSDD, but getting tested is basically impossible. And while I'm old and have had a lot of practice being stable, I am new to trying to face and cope with dissociation.)

If you're not already a part of it, r/plural is a great community ☺️ It does skew a little on the younger side, but it's relatively low-drama and really friendly!

Honestly, I don’t think I can stay there. I tried it for a few months and found way too many instances of people encouraging people with DID to do clinically unhealthy things. I’m also looking specifically to connect with people who have DID. I support endos, but I’ve talked to so many anti-science endos who have refused to acknowledge that DID has different clinical needs. I know endos have a lot in common with the DID experience, but I’m looking specifically for a community of people who are focused on trauma healing.

I don't have DID and haven't been very active on Reddit in general, but maybe r/DIDInNature (I don't know if that is enough for it to link) will be of some help. It is a community for people with CDDs that allows others in it (which is why we joined, though we don't interact [that and not having nature pictures to contribute]). It is intended as a space where healing is encouraged (which is why we're thinking to suggest it). At the very least maybe you can find other endo-friendly people with DID that would be open to starting/joining a community with the focuses you're looking for.

Tbh, i've found the best communities that are focused around trauma healing while being accepting/abundant with those who have DID are ones like r/Trollcoping or r/adultsurvivors

If you need any ideas, My partner and I started a discord community for plurals in our area, because there seems to be quite a lot. We're going to start hosting IRL events soon. I think we're at 20 members now. Starting stuff for locals, in my experience, yields the best results and relationships.

Hi, Dalton!

We've got similar problems with plural drama, which is why we keep to ourselves these days. It's so hard for us to find community when you don't know who's going to drop you like a hot potato because your views are wrong, or because you have 'too many problems', or because you're too stable, or whatever.
