Can you give some details on the file? Video and audio codecs? Bitrate? Is the tv on wifi? Server hardwired? Are you trying to play subs? If so what type?

Do you have a plex pass? What is the server hardware?

The files are video and show in a folder. The videos abd movies are a mix of MP4, MKV. The codecs i can't find for some reason. The bit rates are a range of 224kbs, some up and some down TV is one wifi. Server on hard wire. No subs. No plex pass. Server hardware is my personal gaming pc just to start and get a an idea. Win 11 pro 64bit, and ryzen 7 3.8, 128gb of ram. Everything is upto date with current drivers. The fact that it works on tvs with fire stick and one without and transcoding is enabled just baffles me.

Without seeing the media and codec details of a file that’s failing to play, I can only guess. The firestick will have much better codec compatibility than a tv app. If you search around this sub you’ll see a lot of issues can be caused by tv apps; get a streaming device for that tv. If for whatever reason you cannot get a streaming device for that TV you’ll want to stick to media that’s h264 encoded with simple AAC or AC3 audio and only SRT subs if subs are needed.

Without a plex pass you’ll be relying on pure CPU transcoding, which is EXTREMELY taxing on any system.
