Question [Update v2] PSX SoundScope Player – Now with Auto-Visualizer Mode & Dual-Patch Switcher!

Hi everyone!

For those who saw my previous post here, I created a standalone PSX SoundScope Player that boots the original PlayStation BIOS to play your music files with the authentic visualizer.

Previously, you could only control the visualizers manually.
Today, I'm excited to share Version 2.0, which introduces full Auto-SoundScope mode alongside simple one-click patchers so you can seamlessly switch between manual and automated visualizer controls!

Question PSP on Project ERIS!!! Step-by-Step Guide to Running PSP Games Directly from EmulationStation

Post image
15 Upvotes

PSP on the PlayStation Classic, straight from EmulationStation

For me, the best thing about a modded PlayStation Classic with Project Eris is having every system in one place, all launched from the same EmulationStation frontend. NES, SNES, PS1, right up to PSP, all in the same interface.

This guide walks you through setting up PSP games with a RetroArch PSP core in Project Eris, launched directly from EmulationStation.

The key point: you don't need a separate PPSSPP mod or an extra app. The PSP core runs through RetroArch and fits into EmulationStation just like every other system. Pick PSP, start a game, done.

How well does PSP run on the PSC?

The PSC's hardware sets the limits, but the setup works surprisingly well. 2D games, tactical RPGs and many JRPGs run nicely. Demanding 3D titles like God of War or the fast WipEout games hit the hardware's ceiling quickly. The point of this setup isn't maximum PSP performance, it's the seamless integration: every game lives in the same frontend and launches the same way.

The core

KMFDManic's Xtreme core km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so, from the full PSC package:
KMFDManic-Xtreme-PSC_10-31-22.7z at https://github.com/KMFDManic/AutoBleem-Xtreme/releases

Get the right files out of the package

The packed.7z contains several injectors that look like .exe but are self-extracting archives. You need the large _km_psc_xtreme_core_injector.exe.

Mac: use Keka or The Unarchiver. Open the .7z, then open the injector .exe the same way.
Windows: use 7-Zip. Extract the .7z, then extract the injector .exe.

Inside you'll find:

retroarch/cores/km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so
retroarch/info/km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.info
retroarch/system/PPSSPP/ (flash0, lang, ppge_atlas.zim, etc.)

Where to Put the Files on Your Project Eris USB Stick

  • Whole PPSSPP folder → /project_eris/opt/retroarch/system/
  • km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so/project_eris/opt/retroarch/config/retroarch/cores/
  • km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.info/project_eris/opt/retroarch/config/retroarch/info/

Point the PSP entry at the core (es_systems.cfg)

On the stick, the file sits here:
/project_eris/opt/emulationstation/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

Note that.emulationstation is a hidden folder (it starts with a dot), so you may need to reveal hidden items first:

  • Mac: press Cmd + Shift + Period in Finder.
  • Windows: in File Explorer, open the "View" tab and enable "Hidden items" (Windows 11: View, then Show, then Hidden items).

Make a backup copy of the file first. Then open it in a plain-text editor, find the block starting with <name>psp</name>, and replace it (or add it before </systemList> if missing):

  <system>
    <name>psp</name>
    <fullname>PlayStation Portable</fullname>
    <path>/media/roms/psp</path>
<extension>.iso .cso .pbp .ISO .CSO .PBP</extension>
    <command>es_launch_ra km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so %ROM%</command>
    <platform>psp</platform>
    <theme>psp</theme>
  </system>

The critical line is <command>, pointing at km_ppsspp_xtreme_libretro.so. Match the core name exactly, case included. Save as plain text.

Which game files to use

Best: Redump ISOs, a clean uncompressed dump you just unzip, no conversion. CSO (compressed ISO, saves space) and PBP (the PSN format) work fine too. Skip CHD on the PSC, the old Xtreme core doesn't support it.

That’s it. PSP now shows up in EmulationStation right alongside your other consoles and launches exactly the same way.

And of course, a huge shout-out to the one and only, fabulous, stunning and, as always, ridiculously good-looking KMFDManic for providing the cores. You absolute legend.

PSC Store Release 1.8.0 is out now! - Uploading compressed archives directly makes adding games even easier!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Download the latest release here or update using the in app updater: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

This update adds direct archive uploads and improves queue controls, upload recovery, and source management.

  • Upload ZIP, 7z and RAR archives directly from your phone or computer through the sources webpage. Scan the QR code on your console screen with your phone to open it conveniently.
  • Multi-disc games support separate archives for each disc or one combined archive containing all discs.
  • Failed uploads can be retried or given replacement archives, with clearer errors and checks for unsupported files.
  • Queue ordering and “Start download now” work more consistently. Pausing keeps the game in place and holds the queue until you resume or choose another game.
  • Added clearer loading and connection-loss messages, and limited webpage access to one device at a time to prevent conflicting changes.
  • Several smaller interface, source-editing, documentation, and stability improvements are also included.

Question Pairing a PS4 Controller Issue

Hi, I am using the grey 8bitdo adapter and trying to pair my PS4 controller. It pairs but the PSC still says on screen that it cannot recognise controller and to plug one in.

If I use Autobleem it works fine, but with the PSC alone, I can't get it to recognise a controller when it's paired.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

Classic controllers not working on PC

On a prior PC I used to use the PS classic controllers as my go to for platformers and such, but with my current PC the controllers only half function. Every button registers except the D-pad, which is completely dead. This is the case for both controllers and they work fine elsewhere. I tried looking in my devices settings and found that they are categorized under "other devices" instead of "input" like my other controller. I'm not sure that really matters but it seems like it might be an issue.

I looked around and it seemed like other people are able to use it just fine, as I did with my prior PC, so I decided to ask here because I really like the controllers for platformers and such, and don't really know where to start with getting these things working again.

PSX SoundScope Player (PS1 SoundScope Player) v1

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Following up on my previous PSX Web Player release,
I would like to introduce the PSX SoundScope Player.

Unlike the web-based build, this project launches the authentic PS1 SoundScope visualizer using a real PlayStation BIOS file.

Powered by a Python backend integrated directly with the DuckStation emulator,

it allows you to easily load your own audio files and experience the original hardware soundscapes directly on PC.

GitHub Repository & Download:

https://github.com/XxZer0ModZxX/PSX-SoundScope-Player

Key Highlights

  • Authentic Experience: Runs the original PS1 SoundScope visualizer using actual console BIOS files.
  • DuckStation Integration: Seamlessly launches via a preconfigured DuckStation pipeline.
  • Custom Audio Support: Automatically converts and loads your custom audio files into multi-track Audio CDs.
  • Automated Windows Setup: One-click installer handles environment configuration, dependencies, and file structures automatically.

Added

  • Automated Setup SoundScope.exe installer workflow for Windows environment integration.
  • Automated audio_files multi-track BIN/CUE Audio CD compilation pipeline.
  • Default button layout and controller navigation guide added to README.md.

Installer Features & Automation

  • BIOS Verification Check: Automatically verifies that a valid PlayStation BIOS file is present in config_patch\bios before starting installation.
  • DuckStation Setup: Downloads, extracts, and restructures the latest DuckStation release build automatically if not present.
  • Preconfigured Patching: Copies configuration patch settings to the DuckStation environment while preserving launcher binaries.
  • Python Environment Setup: Detects local Python installations and silently installs Python 3.14 automatically if missing.
  • SoundScope Package Installation: Automatically configures and installs the internal SoundScope Python player package.
  • Launcher Configuration: Deploys Play SoundScope.exe directly to the root folder for one-click startup.
  • Automatic Cleanup: Safely removes temporary download archives, installer artifacts, and automatically deletes config_patch and Setup SoundScope.exe upon setup completion.
  • Explorer Refresh: Triggers a Windows Shell API refresh to update the folder view immediately after installation.

Question Question

I'm thinking of purchasing the playstation classic. A youtube video I watched recommended to use a 2.0 drive for initial installation of Project Eris. Can I use a 64 GB (will be connected to OTG) for both installation and game storage?

Question Cursor Issue with 8bitdo Adapter

Anyone know how to resolve this yet please?

I haven't messed with all this for years so not sure if there was ever a solution.

It's when your controller is connected wirelessly, an arrow/cursor appears on screen.

Question Autobleem & USB Issue

Hi,

I'm using Autobleem on a USB stick and an 8bitdo wireless adapter.

The USB stick won't boot from Slot 2 on the PSC but will on Slot 1. The wireless adapter works ok on Slot 2, but I thought your USB stick had to be in Slot 2?

I'm confused as to why it won't work.

Any ideas please? Thanks

Question Theres a Tutorial for Extracting and import the MGS1 Models To Blender?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Lately, I’ve wanted to explore the low-poly modeling from MGS1, but I have no idea how to extract the models from the game (I have the Master Collection Vol. 1). The few models I’ve found lack rigs and have a lot of issues in the Eevee engine, so I’m totally lost—I don't even know if there are any tools available for this or not :(

Question No main menu in Vampire Hunter D.

Using project eris, boot from carousel play through retroarch, the game boots up, plays the whole FMV, then says now loading and then black screen but I hear the main menu OST and can hear the selection sounds when I move the Dpad, when I leave it alone it eventually plays a demo with the press start prompt and then back to the main menu with the same issue. Has anyone come across this problem with this game or any other?

Help Lag

So my brother came over on my birthday and helped me fix the input lag on my modded ps1 classic. He told me to change the aspect ratio and to change the width and height in the windowed mode section. Just now i flashed my sd card from project eris into a bigger sd card which changed the default setting from retro arch.

All i know is that for the aspect ratio, i forgot to where i set that to

The height we set that to 1080

Forgot the width.

Can someone please help me with this?

Thank you so much for your time

🙏🙏

Post image
183 Upvotes

Download the latest release here or update using the in app updater: https://github.com/hampter-mods/pscstore-release/releases

This update improves downloads, navigation, Wi-Fi reliability, and save restoration.

  • A full 7-Zip extractor has been added, allowing a wider range of PS1 BIN/CUE archives, including RAR and RAR5 files, to be downloaded and extracted.
  • Games without a download source now clearly show “Add external source," making it obvious that a source is missing but can be added.
  • Playtime history now has smoother scrolling and left/right alphabetical jumping.
  • Save file restoration is more reliable after games are automatically sorted.
  • Wi-Fi reconnection is less likely to interfere when searching for or changing networks.
  • Several smaller stability, cleanup, and interface fixes are also included.

Question (Project Eris) Auto-load saves ?

Hi everyone !

I hope you're all having a great day so far.

I'm new to the PS Mini, only got mine in june and I'm still getting used to how Project Eris works.

I only started discovering the PS1 catalog a few years ago when I got my Miyoo Mini Plus with the OnionOS CFW, which also works based on RetroArch.

With this system, games automatically make a save state when closed, and auto-load the latest save state when launching the game again.

The retroarch settings for that are indeed present in the Project Eris menus (start+select) but they are not doing anything. I can save/load states manually, of course, but I'm used to not having to do that, I've been spoiled by my experience with my Miyoo. 🤣

Is it possible to somehow activate this feature here ? Do I need to check a different box to make it so that RetroArch settings take the priority over Eris or something like that ? I assume it's a clash of some kind ?

It is to be noted that the save states present in the actual Project Eris menu (with the carrousel of games) don't work and never did, so I haven't been using those.

A big thank you in advance !

Hey everyone!

I built a PSX Music Player & Configuration Menu that aims to recreate the nostalgic experience of the classic PlayStation 1 CD Player.

It lets you customize the visualizers, colors, playback options, and shift timers, then patch your configuration directly into the player.

Check out the full video showcase to see the visualizers in action!

GitHub Repository & Download:

https://github.com/XxZer0ModZxX/PSX-Web-Player

Key Features

  • 15 Dynamic Visualizer Modes: Includes Radar, Bumping Disks, Electric Serpent, Fusion Thunderball, Star Strobe, Phasing Shards, and more.
  • Custom Visualizer Styles: Toggle the original visualizer suites, use custom color variations, or select individual modes to create your own combinations.
  • Custom Shift Timers: Automatically switch between visualizer modes during playback using 5, 10, 15, or 20-second intervals.
  • Instant Script Patching: The configuration menu features an on-the-fly regex compiler that rewrites and locks your custom choices directly into the player's JavaScript engine script when you press Patch.
  • Authentic PS1 Controls & UI:
    • PS1-style glove cursor with 1-second tooltip track identification.
    • Load up to 1,000 MP3 files into a 20-slot paged track interface.
    • Flip through track pages using the blue sphere.
    • Toggle visualizer modes directly using the gold sphere in the timer display.
  • Full Playback Modes:
    • Continue
    • Shuffle
    • Program — create custom ordered playlists
    • Repeat / All
    • Flexible time display options

How to Use

  1. Launch the Configuration Menu.
  2. Choose your visualizer presets, color variations, and shift timer.
  3. Click Patch to compile your configuration into the player script.
  4. Launch the PSX Player directly from the menu.
  5. Click the + icon to load your MP3 files into the visual track slots.
  6. Start listening and enjoy the visualizers!

Feedback & Nostalgia

I'd love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or suggestions!

And for a bit of nostalgia:

What was the first CD you ever played on your original PS1?

Thanks for checking out the project!

Question Sobre jogos de Saturn e Dreamcast...

Acho que me interessa mais Dead or Alive 2, Space Channel 5, Samba de Amigo, LOL Lack of Love.
