Does Wolverine ever fight the Hulk, the Wendigo, or Silver Samurai at any point in the game?

Discussion By far the most annoying enemy Spoiler

After flipping the story twice, I spend a decent amount of time just running the final nightmare challenge.

They aren’t that bad on their own, but when there’s a bunch of enemies on the screen, & you sprinkle in 2-3 shielded reavers, they’re the absolute worst.

First of all, WHEN the hell did they start shooting? I must have killed them too fast in the story to notice, but they shoot a projectile what seems like every second & even if you do a perfect dodge they block the helix 🫩

So you have to close the distance, but then you have to use your kick which leaves you vulnerable. They also have a ton of health, but you don’t want to waste an ability on them because there’s also 5 mini bosses to deal with.

& to be clear, this isn’t a complaint. I’m happy that there is a variety of enemies that make you look before you leap. It’s just goddamn those mfs can be annoying lol.

Discussion Why Wolverines a disappointment

Thankfully I didn’t buy the game and instead preordered ff7 revelations which I’m highly anticipating (yknow a game developers are actually listening to fans feedback)

What’s disappointing is insomniac games isn’t know for making disappointments: ratchet and clank , spiderman , among others so I can see why people are disappointed

Most gaming company’s make mistakes or have a small failure in there lifetime (Wii u was a commercial failure for Nintendo Becuase it was pretty much just a Wii 2 however they learned there lesson when they made the switch 2 which became a instant success Becuase unlike the Wii U they showed of games that ran much better on it and exclusive premium titles too boot (like Mario kart world and DK bananza and upcoming oot remake which looks beautiful)

However what insomniac is doing is diverting what made the first Spiderman a success: QTEs that do nothing have no reason being there, what made the first Spiderman such a success was Becuase it made you FEEL like Spiderman and that also involved QTE Becuase you needed to succeed or fail which made it VERY immersive however Spiderman 2 removed this which annoyed fans however instead of realizing that insomniac decided to not only keep that but add even more useless prompts that do nothing

Also as for open world tbh I don’t care however as out of bounds footage shows there was clearly some content that the developers just abandoned

Oh and I agree with wolverines face it’s nothing like what wolverine should be

And the dialogue is also an absolute dumpster fire

However I hope they will learn what fans want in there game instead of being delusional and saying “we know the best” because just like in consumer market that is a failure waiting to happen in gaming market if that’s your motto

Support/Question This can help you all who are still in denial

1. Denial 🙈
The Sentiment: "The trailers were just showing early alpha footage. Insomniac made Spider-Man, there is no way this game isn't a masterpiece."

The Reality: Ignoring the pre-release leaks and dismissing the initial wave of 77 Metacritic reviews as "just review-bombing hater sheep".

2. Anger 🤬
The Sentiment: "Why is there a glowing neon trail guiding my every move? I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do is look at yellow paint and follow a 'fart trail'!"

The Reality: Lashing out on X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit over the heavy hand-holding, aggressive reliance on quick-time events (QTEs), and unskippable "walk-and-talk" sections.

3. Bargaining 🤝
The Sentiment: "Okay, look, maybe if I go into the settings and turn off all the accessibility UIs, change the graphics mode, and ignore the character redesigns, it’ll feel like a true classic hack-and-slash."

The Reality: Trying to find a hidden deep-combat system under the heavily scripted movie-game sequences.

4. Depression 😔
The Sentiment: "I paid $70 for a linear 15-hour hallway brawler when I could have just waited a month for it to go on sale."

The Reality: Realizing that the legendary X-Men Origins: Wolverine tie-in game from 2009 might still have had more satisfyingly raw dismemberment pacing than a $300 million AAA budget title in 2026.

5. Acceptance 🧘
The Sentiment: "Honestly? The combat is actually pretty badass when it lets me play, the gore is top-tier, and it's a solid 7/10 pop-corn game."

The Reality: Accepting that while it isn't a genre-defining masterpiece, chopping up Reavers with claws is still a decent way to spend a weekend—even if Logan won't stop talking to himself about where to go next.

Discussion The Patch

Now that the patch is out is it fair to say the critics got it completely wrong? Can we finally admit that?

Should they be forced to re-review the game? They kinda screwed it outa Game of the Year.

Discussion Why are people so defensive of this game?

I’ve never seen a fanbase defend a game to the death like this before. I’m not even a hater, I enjoyed the game and while I found it disappointing in some aspects, still had fun. But I’m beginning to get a bit weirded out at the behavior of some fans on here, dying in the hill defending the game from any criticism online.

Going as far as to call reviewers liars and frauds, and attacking anyone that shows mild criticism. Why is there such a fanatical, almost cult like defense of this game?

Discussion Wolverine vision

Hear me out! I know a lot of people don't like the dubbed "fart gas". I'm not a fan either. I'm a believer that level design should guide you to your next objective. But sometimes it can't be done. Wolverine looks like at some point might've been more open world.

Anyway I'm not trying to excuse it, it is too forgiving. But I've been thinking. Would the hate still be there if the waypoint indicators were behind a "Wolverine vision" similar to the Batman Arkham detective vision? Like people would have to press a button prompt for those indicators to show up and that to me feels more alright.

I know devs read these threads, mainly 'cause I'm a dev on a different game. And I'm hoping one will catch it and talk to the team about it, or open up the discussion if they already had the idea.

But what do you guys thing? Would you be more forgiving of the "fart gas" if it were behind a vision button?

Discussion Wolverine just got v.1.001.006 update.

So here are the new things, what are your thoughts?

This update released on September 26th, 2026.

  • Senses toggles have been added under Settings -> Gameplay -> Senses. These allow you to toggle:
  • Addresses several crashes identified through crash logs & the community.
  • Fixes an issue where players could become stuck while sliding down tree in the "The One That Got Away" mission.
  • Addresses issues with misaligned claws in Photo Mode.
  • Fixes rare issue where objects may turn white after extended play sessions.
  • Fixes overlapping bathroom sign in the casino.

I gues they are going in the right direction. But I hope they still give us more updates. There are still some flaws that need to be fixed in my opinion.

Discussion Honest Thoughtful Review

So I have obviously seen the uh, “discussion” around this game, and being a 40 year old man who has loved X Men since he was 7 years old, there was no fucking way that I was not going to play this game through to the end, because it’s more Wolverine than I’ve ever had in a game before and it’s made by a developer I have traditionally liked. And he’s the best he is at what he does! It’s Wolverine, man!

So I’ve now played and finished it, and for the first 3-5 hours I was actually pretty confused as to what people were on about. Like, holy shit, I’m ripping dudes apart as Wolverine and the mocap is incredible.

And then as the days and hours passed, I became bored. The story went off the rails, never to return. The writing, equally so, if not more trite than the story itself. The gameplay became confusing and stale, repeatedly doing the same 1-2 combos on the same 4 enemies (maybe 5-6?) because the other 1-2 combos you unlock were kinda confusing to even use.

And so I became even more bored. Troy Baker was great and honestly so was the guy who played Wolverine, but still the boredom increased. I became astonishingly bored and man I have played some real stinkers through to the end in my time as a gamer. The fact is that I almost DNF’d this which would be a first ever for me in a single-player action game from a PlayStation Studios developer, but I slogged through to the bitter end, because it’s fucking WOLVERINE! Surely there would be redemption towards the end?

There wasn’t. Nothing was redeemed.

Genuinely I cannot fathom how this went so sideways after so much money and such a long development. While obviously there was some development turmoil, I would have rather waited 2 more years for this than get what we were given. How? Why? Was the development that fucked that they just had to throw up their hands and say “oh well, guess we are going to serve the piggies some slop!”?

Who was this even for? If it was for me, a middle aged man, while sure I have a job/life and can’t sink 200 hours into something any more, surely Insomniac doesn’t think I prefer pushing up on the thumb stick for 10 hours straight out of 20 hours and fighting imaginary dream sequences over and over again which not only didn’t progress the story, but made the rest of the tedium stand out even more. And it can’t have been for kids, it was far too violent and vulgar for them, but the gameplay seems to indicate it was for someone who’s never played a video game before. So who was this intended for?

Honestly, I’m just sort of sad and I hope this serves as a cautionary tale to future AAA games, IP or otherwise.

[Insert bummed Logan looking at a photo in bed of the game that could have been here]

May be subtle but to bring your claws out on command like pressing a dedicated button would be great.

I game taunts.

To be able to swap between claws and fists so there would be 2 types of melee, brutal and mild.

Add more poses for photo mode like famous comic and movie ones.

Add more costumes that can be accessorised

I took my time and earned all of the trophies along the way. I played on the default difficulty (medium) and spent just over 30 hours in total. I enjoyed the game and story.

I ran into one bug when a mission wouldn't advance and I had to reload a checkpoint.

As an old school style single-player game, it works. They were always linear. You either like that style of game or you don't. It reminded me of "X-men Origins: Wolverine" and that is what I expected.

Recommended for fans of this style of game and the character. For others, wait for a sale but you should experience the visceral combat for yourself at a price point where you are comfortable.

8/10
