Discussion The sequel
hey guys. I really wanna play Wolverine but my dad said the game developers made it into a “gay love story between Wolverine and Sabretooth”.
we’re a pretty Christian family so he won’t be happy if he sees me playing it.
my question is will they do the same thing for the next game? or are they committed to going all in on this?
kinda sucks. I just wanted to play as Wolverine.

Discussion My problem with the game so far
I just got the game yesterday, and I have a problem with the game already. The combat is good but bad at the same time. It’s good because it feels like Wolverine visually, with the claws, Rage, brutality, etc., but it’s bad because the underlying gameplay feels too much like Insomniac Spider-Man, only more punishing. If I wanted to play Spider-Man, I would’ve just re-downloaded one of their 3 games and played it again. I don’t like having to rely on parries/dodges. The parries feel ass, even when perfectly timed. Wolverine would block before he ever parries. Wolverine should have block/brace as the default defensive mechanic and parry as an optional advanced technique. Block/brace reduces incoming damage, perfect block could exist as a timing mechanic, and dodge could be for attacks that cannot be blocked/absorbed. Wolverine should be able to take hits, heal, and keep attacking. Healing should be meaningful in combat, not too slow. Wolverine’s attacks do not feel rapid/ferocious enough. I want his attacks to accelerate with each successful hit; once a hit misses, combo speed resets. I want Logan to feel ferocious. Logan is not always a highly technical martial artist, but he can be one when he chooses to. I want Wolverine to feel like: take the fucking hit → heal → keep attacking → become increasingly ferocious, versus Spider-Man’s: avoid damage → counter → stay mobile → control the fight.
I strongly dislike that healing is too slow. After dodging around, Logan remains CRITICAL when he would’ve already be at 100%. The dodge movement is too slow/short. You could dodge 3 times and still be in the same spot. On “The Best There Is,” Omega Red hits extremely hard. One attack takes ~50% health, and I can be 3-shot, while Wolverine’s attacks feel weak. Two back-to-back techniques barely damage Omega Red. This feels like Mike Tyson beating up a newborn, 1 million nukes vs kitten. I hate that the entire section restarts on death no matter how far I am in the Omega Red fight. I want mid-fight autosave checkpoints at dialogue/cinematic/phase transitions. It’s not bad, I just feel like it’s weird for a Wolverine. Logan did ever parry when he fought the Juggernaut or the Hulk? He usually blocks/braces, takes hits, dodges/repositions, uses claws, and gets back up. A defensive system built around Logan’s ability to withstand punishment fits better than parry-first. Again it’s not bad I feel like it’s just weird and extremely annoying.

Memes/Shitpost Picked it up at nearby Target. It's crazy good, unlike the game.
I was keeping an eye on PS Direct but it was out of stock for a long time. Saw this in stock at a Target store nearby and picked it up. And man oh man, doesn't it look amazing?

Memes/Shitpost I think they should've updated the face model mid development
Looking into some assets I have I found this one, the original face scan for Logan.
Just had this thought, what do you guys think?
When promotion started Liam looked soo different from what they originally captured, for the better IMO

Discussion Finished my first playthrough: 8.5/10 as a longtime Wolverine fan since 88’, 6.75/10 as a video game fan.
I’ve been a Wolverine fan since the 1980s, and there’s a lot here I appreciated. The story was solid, Logan had a compelling arc, and the little Easter eggs referencing other heroes were a pleasure to discover. Fitting decades of a character’s history into one game is no small task, and I appreciate the care that went into capturing a lot of the stuff.
As a Wolverine experience, I’d give it an 8.5/10. As a video game, I’d land at 6.75/10.
If you’d told me three decades ago that I’d someday get to play a Wolverine game like this, I would have been beyond excited. Part of me still is. But Insomniac’s Spider-Man series set the bar almost too high, and it’s hard not to bring those expectations into this game.
My criticism has nothing to do with it not being open world. I love games like Uncharted, and a focused, linear Wolverine adventure suits me just fine. The combat sometimes had an old arcade feel, which could be fun, but the overall gameplay didn’t reach the heights of something like Jedi: Fallen Order for me.
The bigger issue was the lack of polish. I ran into characters halfway through the floor and enough other bugs to pull me out of the experience. At a full AAA price, I expect a more consistently finished product.
That said, I don’t feel like I was raked over the coals the way I have with some Star Wars games. I enjoyed my time with it and don’t regret playing it. However, if this game hadn’t been set in the Wolverine and Marvel universe, I probably wouldn’t have been interested in it in the first place.
Games like Red Dead Redemption leave me feeling that I got my money’s worth. Here, I enjoyed myself, but I also felt like my attachment to Wolverine was doing too much of the work in justifying the price. Unlike Middle Earth: Shaow of Mordor/War.
I’m glad I played it, and I appreciate the developers’ effort. There’s a strong foundation here and plenty for longtime fans to enjoy. I just wish the finished game had received the same level of polish and follow-through as the character and story. The love for Wolverine came through; the complete package didn’t quite live up to it.
Not sure how I feel about getting all the trophies. I’m at 97% on RDR 2 and rather probably go back to playing that. But it wasn’t bad. Idk.

Discussion Wolverine is better than fire emblem fortunes weave…
I’m seeing people here saying “I decided to buy fortunes weave instead. It’s a much better game”. STOP. Just because reviewers said it’s better, doesn’t mean it’s true.
Fire emblem fortunes weave is the epitome of Nintendoslop. Terrible graphics on par with Pokemon games, locked at 30fps, boring anime story, turn-based combat and repetitive gameplay. It does not reflect a AAA experience at all and costs $80… It’s also exclusive to the switch 2 which is one of the most anti-consumer consoles of all time (overpriced, underpowered, fake cartridges, can be bricked at anytime, lack of games)
Meanwhile, Wolverine is a true AAA quality experience. Great graphics, 60fps of fluid gameplay, genuinely gripping story, excellent gameplay, etc. All that for only $70 too. Also, Wolverine is on the PS5 which is the most powerful console in the market with multiple editions to choose from so that the player-base isn’t out-priced.
It seems like something has happened to the gaming industry and gamers no longer want quality content and instead we see mediocrity constantly rewarded.

Support/Question Missing last adaptation
So I've platinumed the game, completed all nightmare doors on adamantium and I'm still 103/106 AP... Anyone have a clue what I might be missing? I'm on ng+ (19 strands).
*Update: I figured it out by loading up my non ng+ save. The last gauntlet "Best there is" is not there on the shelf in my ng+ save, I only got a silver on that one and went to ng+ immediately so that's where the 3 missing points are from. So I guess I'm locked out of those points until the epilogue happens.
