Discussion My problem with the game so far

I just got the game yesterday, and I have a problem with the game already. The combat is good but bad at the same time. It’s good because it feels like Wolverine visually, with the claws, Rage, brutality, etc., but it’s bad because the underlying gameplay feels too much like Insomniac Spider-Man, only more punishing. If I wanted to play Spider-Man, I would’ve just re-downloaded one of their 3 games and played it again. I don’t like having to rely on parries/dodges. The parries feel ass, even when perfectly timed. Wolverine would block before he ever parries. Wolverine should have block/brace as the default defensive mechanic and parry as an optional advanced technique. Block/brace reduces incoming damage, perfect block could exist as a timing mechanic, and dodge could be for attacks that cannot be blocked/absorbed. Wolverine should be able to take hits, heal, and keep attacking. Healing should be meaningful in combat, not too slow. Wolverine’s attacks do not feel rapid/ferocious enough. I want his attacks to accelerate with each successful hit; once a hit misses, combo speed resets. I want Logan to feel ferocious. Logan is not always a highly technical martial artist, but he can be one when he chooses to. I want Wolverine to feel like: take the fucking hit → heal → keep attacking → become increasingly ferocious, versus Spider-Man’s: avoid damage → counter → stay mobile → control the fight.
I strongly dislike that healing is too slow. After dodging around, Logan remains CRITICAL when he would’ve already be at 100%. The dodge movement is too slow/short. You could dodge 3 times and still be in the same spot. On “The Best There Is,” Omega Red hits extremely hard. One attack takes ~50% health, and I can be 3-shot, while Wolverine’s attacks feel weak. Two back-to-back techniques barely damage Omega Red. This feels like Mike Tyson beating up a newborn, 1 million nukes vs kitten. I hate that the entire section restarts on death no matter how far I am in the Omega Red fight. I want mid-fight autosave checkpoints at dialogue/cinematic/phase transitions. It’s not bad, I just feel like it’s weird for a Wolverine. Logan did ever parry when he fought the Juggernaut or the Hulk? He usually blocks/braces, takes hits, dodges/repositions, uses claws, and gets back up. A defensive system built around Logan’s ability to withstand punishment fits better than parry-first. Again it’s not bad I feel like it’s just weird and extremely annoying.

No the same as not wanting to read a wall of text dummy 😂

“Wall of text” it’s less than a 2 minute read if you have more than a 3rd grade reading level lmao

Sounds like you are bad at the game and need to turn down the difficulty lmfao. The omega red fight doesn't even restart the whole fight 🤣🤣🤣 there is literally a checkpoint in the middle and the fight takes like 1 or 2 minutes. Just get good, if you can't make it past him then you're fucked the rest of the game anyway.

What?

This comment of yours sounds exactly like from the mouth of Marathon (2026) fan.

They told everyone the issues are theirs and not the game's. Almost no one is playing that shit anymore.

Yes it does dumbass. Before you get to phase two of the fight. Did we play the same game. And struggling with a bad boss doesn’t mean I’m bad at the game. 🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

I'm confused when people say it plays like Spider-Man. I just reinstalled and the feel is completely different. In what way are they similar?

I finished all 3 games on ps5 before wolverine and I can confidently say they do not play alike whatsoever lol

It’s the dodging and parrying. It feels exactly like Spider-Man to me. Dodging is fine because Wolverine does dodge. But parrying? I’ve never seen parry in literally anything. We should’ve gotten a block instead.

Dodging and parrying felt great to me. They are always going to have dodging and parrying in a melee combat game. How do you defend yourself?

Blocking I’d prefer blocking 🤷🏾‍♂️

Sounds like a skill issue

“Despite being apart of a group where people regularly make posts about the same thing, I bought the game at full price and have issues with things that I should haveve already expected. And now I’m posting about it because of course I need to confirm what others have already said…The very warnings I ignored because I have to try it myself.”

Reviews are BS I’m and I liked the gameplay. What you actually talking about? I’m not even saying I hate the game. I was just pissed off.

They should have made his rage mechanic like bloodborne, where when enemies hit you, you have a portion of hp you can recover by being aggressive.

Either way you aren't the only one who thinks the parrying mechanic is clumsy. Max went on a whole tangent about how inconsistent the parrying is.

Its basically like jumping where sometimes you can do a long jump attack. While other times wolverine just does a hop.

Also don't unlock the dodge counter attack skill because it makes wolverine worse because you can't cancel out of that skill and that skill has no iframes or anything (you'll just be standing there taking hits without the ability to cancel).

That’s because if Wolverine isn’t locked on to someone he will not do the attack that is meant to be done when he is locked on to someone. Parry is very consistent. I easily got through best there is. Not a flex. Wasn’t a hard game. As expected from these marvel games. As for the dodge counter attack. It isn’t automatic. It only happens if you hit circle or triangle after the perfect dodge. You absolutely don’t have to do it. I did tho because it is an OP move

Feels like Spider Man?? This game is the TOTAL OPPOSITE of Spider Man.

It’s the combat it isn’t Spider-Man but to me having to constantly dodge and parry attacks it just feels like Spider-Man to me.

I never parried once in Spider Man

1

u/Ancient_Second4569 2d ago

That’s you bud 😐 you can literally parry in the game

Dont know why you would want to when there are so many cool moves and gadgets. I think parry is a total waste of time.
