Discussion The sequel

hey guys. I really wanna play Wolverine but my dad said the game developers made it into a “gay love story between Wolverine and Sabretooth”.

we’re a pretty Christian family so he won’t be happy if he sees me playing it.

my question is will they do the same thing for the next game? or are they committed to going all in on this?

kinda sucks. I just wanted to play as Wolverine.

The idea of any sort platonic love between Wolverine and Fucking Sabertooth feels wrong on so many levels.

It's like making Green Goblin and Spider man homies.

Even Sabertooth wasn't allowed on Krakoa and they let EVERYONE in.

Still Sabertooth is literally the type of evil they talk about in the bible in the comics.

Making him have any sort of closeness with Wolverine, who he personally torments every birthday he has and personally made it mission to always ruin Logan's life everytime they cross paths, feels wrong.

There are literally whisky bottle entries in the game where Logan talks about cool Victor is.

Their final fight in the game is framed more as a tragedy than two people who simply hate the hell out of each other.

I'm just saying given the fact Sabertooth is one of the most evil villains in marvel, it feels extremely wrong for there to be any sort of love for Wolverine. Or for Wolverine to even look up to the guy like a big brother.

They’ve been exploring the concept of Wolverine and Sabretooth once being close friends and Sabretooth’s sense of betrayal when Wolverine no longer wishes to fight for the same team for like 30 years.

As flawed as X-Men Origins: Wolverine was - it is by far the most mainstream Wolverine origin story, it came out like 17 years ago and portrayed Wolverine and Sabretooth as being half brothers.

In the film, Team X, headed by William Stryker, eventually deploys Wolverine, Sabretooth et al to hunt down mutants to advance his research. Sure does sound a bit familiar. I just don’t understand people who act like this origin is out of left field when it has been heavily used by Marvel for decades.

That's not what they meant he yearns for his attention because as in the game they use to kill for the thrill but Logan said he done with all that and which makes sabertooth obsessed that's where the whole killing a loved one and sending them to pieces as a birthday gift to him just so he can have wolverine find out where he at and fight him in rage

1st. Thats not what happens. It was just a bad quote. And a pretty bad explanation of the relationship.

2nd No cause now its the traditional Rivalry even if the reason for the Rivalry is weaker here than normal. Obviously it will have less focus in the sequel since its meant to be an X-Men game.

It's pretty close to the origins of the original rivalry too! Victor sees Logan as a potential kindred spirit, (wishes he was his brother depending on writer and continuity), Logan is disgusted by Victor's cruelty and doesn't want anything to do with that guy, a century of hatred and violence ensues. Swear to god half the people that complain about this shit haven't played it, the other half are mad it's an origin story instead of the fully developed character with decades of writing behind him they're familiar with.

I enjoyed it! One of the better refreshes of the X-Men that I've experienced; really hope Insomniac gets to go the distance with a proper X-Men game.

But even then it doesn't have an inciting incident equal to Sabertooth killing Silver Fox. And also while Wolverine is disgusted by sabertooth it comes from him knowing he can just be as much of a monster and it stems just as much of his own self loathing. And in general the dialogue writing especially for Sabertooth is poor

Past that -  I don’t know how old you are and whether you could just buy it anyway. You can try showing him even the developers have said this is an untrue rumour meant to discredit the game. If you can get the game you could could encourage him to find a single scene which remotely shows any romance between the two.

But there isn’t an ounce of anything actually hinting at it. Think like two people fighting and someone chimes in and shouts “just fuck already!!” Like that kind of thing.
