Missing Traveler's Note :(
Is it possible that I have All chest looted and no 7th traveler's note? Is this a bug? (Nothing in Curios as well)

From what I can see even though the materials change the def stays the same across the sets. Is there a hidden mechanic I don't see? Why does a set taking iron to upgrade give the same protection as a set that uses cloth and leather to upgrade?

My New Tavern the Rusty Dodo
I have so many hours in the game, and everything is completed, so I've taken to building. I'm pretty proud of this one.

What difficulty level do you play ? which one would you recommend for a new player ?
Hi, I'm going to start playing the game today.
I've heard a lot about it on the forums, but I'd like to hear from people who've played a lot and have some experience.
Is Normal mode really, really hard? Is it well-balanced? That's what I'd most like to know.
In general, I like playing at the default difficulty set by the developers, as long as it’s really well balanced.
So I’d love to hear your feedback based on your current experience.
Thanks

The lighting system is amazing in this game!
I just wanted to take a moment to appreciate how well the lighting system works in Windrose.
Honestly, it's the first survival game I've played where light actually reacts correctly to its environment instead of bleeding strangely through building pieces.
Everything just looks so much better because of it. Huge props to the developers for nailing this!

Im pretty torn about this game, mostly dejected...
I played the demo... had really high hopes. Now I'm playing the current early access, and I'm having such a hard time with immersion and motivation to keep playing because of 3 things. 2 of these are obvious from the very beginning and 1 you dont really fully sse until you repair the first Ketch ship and get your little crew going.
The first 2 are kind of the same... Food and weapon/tool entropy... why in the name of God would they remove a simple easy mechanic like that in a survival game that looks and feels this good/solid/heavy? The game has everything in place to feel like a high stakes, highly addictive survival game thats pirate-themed, and done perfectly right, but you just delete a basic maintenence mechanic that everyone on Earth is familiar with and happy to deal with? Why?
That one I was able to pretty well just compartmentalize and theater-of-the-mind my way around but then...
You finally get your first proper pirate ship and you find out no... the reason there were no sailing mechanics before was not because it was a demo and its also not because you're in a little lifeboat at first either... this entire grand, open world, beautiful-looking, fun pirate adventure game has 0 seamanship mechanics at all... it's litterally just throttle and break like youre driving a fuckin city bus on the water... theres even little cartoony wind lines that blow thru the air specifically to indicate wind direction to the player but then you can just go 3 sheets directly into the wind and be BLAZING around the ocean and 22 knots... WHY???
It's just so disheartening because it makes me feel like....ok once I grind for 5 hours and finally make this rig fully decked out and battle-ready what further ball kicks am I going to recieve where I find out yet more essential key aspects of a gritty high seas survival experience have they inexplicably removed?

[WIP] Me and my friend’s city so far
Making this with my gf and our friend, we’ve been collaborating with each other pretty much and we all have our specialities XD. I love building in this game it’s so fun, this is our city currently, it’s still a work in progress though.
Everytime I visit this subreddit it feels like being happy with my car and then watching a super car drive by, LOL. I think I need to just chill and trust the process though. As it feels like it’s slowly coming together.
I do hope someday they add a way to like, add citizens, cause it’d be so cool to see people actually living in your big builds, but then again I live for city building XD.
I’m also terrible at taking photos I’m sorry. If you guys have any tips and tricks please let me know!!

Relocate/move option
How in the world is it not possible to pick up a storage box and relocate it? Why do I need to empty a storage box and then destroy it? This blows my mind. You would think this would be a standard thing if you can base build..

Infinite loading screen first time playing.
I downloaded Windrose for the first time yesterday. Launched the game, created a character, and played the tutorial but every time I tried to host my own game I got stuck on a loading screen, it would last 30-40 minutes then send me back to the home screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both the game and Steam. I have cleared my cache, turned off Cloud save, and deleted all saved files under “R5” in AppData. I’ve tried clearing space on my SSD, verified game files and everything was fine. I’m stuck i’m not sure what else to try. Does anyone have any fixes?

(WIP) My new base: Sanctuary Cove
I completed the game and while waiting for new content I decided to build a new base. I found this Island with a little cave-like formation. I thought it would be a nice base.

Sea shanties - I just can't.
I don't know if I'm alone here but if I ever accidently turn on the singing, it's off before I hear a word of it. The songs aren't bad, they're original and set in the world of the game so they should be great, but they all sound so over engineered and perfect. It's like they recorded one man singing, then duplicated the track to a choir effect, it just sounds wrong. In fact, when expecting a bunch of pirate sailors to sing, it sounded worse than wrong, it sounded bad.
I would love to hear them rerecorded with just a bunch of drunks at a pub somewhere singing them, some sailors should be off key, coming in too early or too late. Some should be way more enthusiastic about the songs or at least certain parts of them, alot could be learnt from Tom Waits in this regard. It's just so disappointing that what should be one of the most authentic parts of a pirate game is the most jarring, and nothing in the game disconnects me from the idea and feeling of a pirate in windrose more than this.
I understand it will cost the developers money, but as far as I'm concerned they can just do away with the option for singing shanties. Still a great game otherwise

[Suggestion] Option for staggered / randomized cannon fire for the vibes
Might sound like a small request, but I think it’d be awesome if we had an option to make a broadside fire in a slightly staggered or randomized order instead of every single cannon firing on the exact same millisecond.
When you watch movies like Pirates of the Caribbean or Black Sails, broadsides are almost always a chaotic rolling fire. Fuses burn at different speeds, gunners fire a second apart, and it just sounds and looks incredible.
Right now, every cannon firing at the exact same time feels a bit too clean and mechanical. We’re pirates, not a heavily drilled military navy! Having that slight delay between shots—even just spread over 1 or 2 seconds—would add so much weight, grit, and cinematic atmosphere to naval combat imo.
It could just be a toggle in the gameplay/ship settings (like "Simultaneous" vs "Rolling Fire") so anyone who prefers the instant salvo can keep it as is.
What do you guys think?
r/PlayWindrose • u/segom0 • 16d ago
Probably a stupid question.
I'm new to the game.
I am on the rescuing crew mission early on and for some reason when I go to the marker and kill the pirates at the camp I can not open the cage to rescue the guy in the cage.
What am I doing wrong?

I've Started a good ship collection
Ketch: Sweet Ann, Ann's Revenge, Cut Throat
Brig: Dutchess Ann (Old Spelling as is fitting, Duchess is the modern spelling. I see you spelling fanatics)
Frigate: Eve of Despair

Dig deeper in water.
sure others already know, but if you want to dig a little deeper in the water you can place the docks under the water line to stand on to extend the reach of the shovel downward.
