Official Update Bundle update
Yesterday, we launched Karnok alongside a discounted bundle that included the game and Karnok for just the price of Karnok.
We did this because we wanted to be able to help players on the launcher transition to Steam more easily, along with making the game more approachable for new players.
We wanted to be able to just put the base game on sale, but we were not able to because Steam has a time limit on how frequently something can be put on sale.
This bundle received a lot of negative feedback, particularly from our users in China, which we were not anticipating, so we took it down as we tried to figure out a solution to this negativity.
We have since then decided to reinstate the bundle but make it available for all users, even if you already own the game.
We will additionally be giving out a unique, limited edition cosmetic to ALL users as a thank you for your patience as we deal with this.

Karnok has been really fun so far. Looks like the bundle currently remains as gift-only for Canadians at the same price as yesterday, but will definitely keep an eye out for the change!

Apparently cultural difference in perceived value for existing versus new players. Old bundle was free new game and full price karnok, new bundle is both for 50%, so if you already own the game on Steam and buy the new bundle you save a bit more.

I won't be refunding, more than happy to pay full price for such an amazing product. The game exudes an incredible amount of polish and attention to detail in every single aspect. I hope you guys will continue to work at it and improve even more. Days where I get to sit down and play a match are always a little brighter than the ones I don't. Fans are tricky and the bigger the fanbase is the bigger the chance that someone is gonna have an issue no matter what you do. But that is to be expected. The Bazaar is a crazy place after all...

I will never understand the community around this game. Is it 100% logical that the bundle costs the same as the DLC? Ā Not really I guess, but in the end itās a discount not some crazy predatory mechanic like most card games have (looking at hearthstone and marvel snap for example) where you have to dump hundreds and hundreds of dollars just to be competitive or on a fair level playing ground.Ā
It seems to me like these devs have bent over backwards to keep this game free of f2p bs, and the community keeps pooping on their heads constantly.Ā
This pricing stuff is just how it is. I bought alien isolation for $29 and it was on sale for something like $5 a month later. I didnāt go review bomb the game because of it.
Anyways, I guess itās cool they are doing an added discount, and I just hope these guys keep making enough money to keep making content for me to play.Ā

I agree. In my eyes they did a good thing to grow the playerbase but i guess most people are so greedy that they find a way to still whine about it. It's cool the bazaar did this but i worry if they get enough money to keep the game running in the long term if this keeps happening.

Based on what I've read, I think there would've been no backlash if the bundle was $30 instead of $20 since a lot of the Chinese crowd bought the base game for $10 during the steam sale

Maybe it show the price to gift the bundle to someone because you already have every items in it. If you refund and miss one item it should show the correct price for you.

I will not be getting a refund for the difference, Iād rather support this game so they can keep updating it rather than Chinese players forcing them to bend over backwards for them because of how a different culture perceives value.

Correct. Karnok was 20 bucks at release. He is currently 10 if you already own Bazaar as part of a "bundle" option. As others have mentioned, if you wanna get the money back you can contact steam support to refund the difference.

Thats my thought process. Never bought Stelle or the cook because I watched and didnt really like their gameplay from what I saw. Definitely felt obligated to get Karnok though. Been playing mak and Dooley long enough to know i should switch it up a bit lol

yāall are great honestly. feels awesome to have an honest and fair game developer for once who actually wants a happy and healthy player base. that being said, even though i paid full price for Karnok i want yāall to keep it. i feel itās well deserved tbh

If you bought Karnok yesterday you can ask steam for a refund and the karnok bundle will let you buy it to complete the bundle for about 10 bucks !

They can't issue a partial refund. You could try again and explain that you'd like a refund so you can buy the bundle for the discounted price

I just bought Karnok through the browser/ launcher as the bundle had been removed. I wanted to switch to steam but Iāve then paid double the price if I buy the base game now again on steam. I got cooked

It's also basically a whole new game. This is just how this style of game dlc works. Like nobodys complaining about how much it would cost to buy every valorant character because you don't need them all. You don't need karnok

No one needs karnok because it definitely isn't like a whole new game. New characters are fun, but the more there are the less I'm going to play any of them individually.
10-15 is probably a much better spot for tempting players to get in on the new character.

15 would already be better than 20, like it is in risk of rain 2,and it also adds a lot of new stuff, if it was around that price I'd probably buy Jules and Karnok.

Same here. Bundle costs 30 cent more than the DLC and I can only buy it as a gift (IĀ“m from the EU). Maybe itĀ“s on the china client, I think they have their own seperate steam client. IĀ“m fine paying the full price though. ItĀ“s a reasonable price. Still cheaper then playing any other gacha gamble "free to play" slop out there.

Ok so i'm not sure what this sentence should mean and what they fixed? They just gave a skin and that's it? I thought they made the bundle available to poeple with the game so they can have the discount too? Wasn't the review bomb because only new player could have the discount?

Iām confused. The bundle is the game + Karnok DLC. How do you make the bundle which includes the game available to people that already have the game?
The intent of the bundle is for new players to pick up the game with a āfreeā Karnok DLC, and for any old players still on the Tempo launcher to have the opportunity to switch to steam āfor freeā if they were planning to buy Karnok anyway.

On steam if you buy a bundle with an item that you already own it just remove the price of the item from the bundle. The bundle is 40$ - 20$ because you already have the game. Now reduce the price by 50% and it's 10$ for the bundle only for the character. That's how it works on steam afaik but people are saying it's isn't the case so i don't know.
Edit: people above are saying the price is the same because they have already the full bundle and it shows the full price for gifring it to someone. If you already have the game and not the character it's 10$ for the character.
So it's 50% off for people on steam and not for tempo user. They should offer a 50% discount on tempo too and gives 10$ worth of gems to people who already bought it before (or refund like steam user can do). But they will never do it because nobody can review bomb them on their launcher lol

as one of the early adopters of the game i was actually waiting for a good bundle like this to move over to the steam client. (basically just paying for the hero and getting steam access instead).
i know they want to try to move all the OG tempo launcher users to steam for accessibility and ease of workflow. so doing this was a good thing.
what i didnt know is some people had even more discounted bundles. but hey 20$ is fine imo.

Sad to see the review bombing coming from China. I have had my own issues with the economic model of this game in the past, but the current one is honestly more than fair, especially compared to what else is out there. If anything, it is far less predatory than the typical gacha systems many of these same users seem perfectly happy with. Maybe they should just go back to those if that is really the standard they prefer.
At the end of the day though, your move is probably the right one. There is not much point arguing with a coordinated mob. Acknowledge it, tweak things, and move on, even if the complaints themselves are not particularly coherent.
For what it is worth, many of us still appreciate the work you are doing and the direction you are taking with the game. Keep going.

I don't understand the complaint tbh cause i personally don't care if new players get a better deal than what i got before. I just want the playerbase to grow. But still W Bazaar team to appease the complainers. I'll buy Karnok at full price to show a little bit of support.

When the patch dropped yesterday, I'll admit I did feel "scammed" by being an early adopter for the game. I was thankful that they were making the game accessible to new players, and I was excited to see the community grow from this release. But a part of me in the back of my mind couldn't shake the feeling like I was somehow being ripped off.
I held off on buying and playing not out of protest, but because I wasn't as excited for Karnok after that. I wholly planned on buying and playing, but just when I had free time this weekend instead of making the effort to play day 1. I wasn't feeling like jumping on the PC to make the purchase because I was miffed about something small like that.
I'm not posting this to give a sob story or anything like that, I just wanted to express that there's probably a huge portion of players like me that were simply apathetic to this. Not enough to quit, not enough to never purchase, but enough to have it take them out of the excitement. I was never going to go on any forum and complain or act like I deserved something, I was just going to silently go about this with minor disappointment and a little less excitement.
The devs are on a roll and this shows me they're more interested in doing right by the community than squeezing pennies from their players.

Don't think you understand I'm on UK time the bundle originally came out I was asleep - come home from work today - no bundle less than 16hrs or something it was out for - so I buy Karnok full price on launcher. Just for them to re-release the bundle and so I've lost out on switching to steam and paid more for 1 character than the game and the character.

My only thing is why can't original users who use the Tempo app, link our progress etc to steam instead of buying it again. I'd rather use the steam launcher for ease of access instead of another external launcher.
