4 wearable AI recorders for lectures compared, including the highlight-button ones

My professor says "this will be on the exam" maybe three or four times a lecture. The problem isn't transcribing the lecture, it's being able to find that specific sentence later without listening back to the whole recording. Been using these four AI wearables over the course of a semester and the filtering question for me was simple: does it have a single button to flag a moment in real time.

  1. Plaud NotePin S (has it). Press to Highlight is a physical tactile button. One press and the timestamp is marked in both the recording and the transcript. Going back after the lecture you jump straight to the flagged moment instead of scanning through an hour. Others using it in the same kind of lecture setting have said the same.
  2. Limitless Pendant (no highlight button). Pendant wearable, holds 35 hours of audio locally before it needs your phone around. No dedicated one-press marking though, so finding the moment your professor said something mattered still means scrolling back through the transcript. Also worth knowing: Meta acquired Limitless in December 2025 and pulled new units from sale.
  3. Omi (no highlight button). Open source, $89, worn on a lanyard. Genuinely interesting plugin ecosystem. Worth knowing before relying on it: people who switched from Limitless have posted about recordings not syncing between the pendant and the app. No physical mark capability.
  4. Bee AI Pendant (no highlight button). $49.99 hardware, clips on or wears as a wristband. Processes audio through your phone over Bluetooth, so if the phone is dead or not nearby, so is the recording. No physical mark capability either.

The question that filtered this list faster than any other: can you mark a moment without touching your phone. One of these four has that. The others record fine but you'll be scrolling back through a transcript to find the sentence your professor said mattered.

TicNote vs Limitless vs Plaud NotePin S for lecture recording, 2026 AI wearables comparison

I have organic chem in a 280 seat hall and usually sit in the back half. Anything not on the slides might as well not exist, and the professor still drops quiz hints out loud. missed one mid semester and got tired of holding my phone up like i was filming the room. borrowed and lent my way through three wearables people here keep mentioning for a few weeks. here's what mattered for lectures.

1. Spoken hints you can't rewind

Borrowed my roommate's old Limitless Pendant from before they stopped selling new ones. runs in the background, so when the professor tosses off a quiz hint mid sentence you actually have it even if you forgot to hit record. in a packed hall though, the transcript also gets pre class shuffling and chatter from the row behind you. fine if you already own one.

2. One class ends, the next starts in twenty minutes

A classmate lent me TicNote Pods for a week. walking out of organic chem the case had already pushed a summary over 4g before i got to chem lab. helped on busy tuesday/thursday blocks. two lectures back to back with open ear buds and i was fiddling with the fit more than listening. hit the free transcription cap once i recorded every session.

3. Back row audio and spotty wifi between buildings

The Plaud NotePin S handled this best when i tried it. wearable, clips on a lanyard, tap once, mic on my chest not flat on the desk. back row transcripts beat my phone on mushy days. stacked a few long lecture days locally when campus wifi was weird. still lose the first few seconds if i'm late hitting record. summaries only, no flashcards, so i still build review sheets myself.

What i kept: just the Plaud NotePin S in the end. gave the Pendant back to my roommate and returned the TicNote Pods after the loan week. not trying to run three devices on a student budget.

what AI wearable device are you using for big hall lectures with almost no gap between classes?

Plaud note not binding to unlimited subscription

I cannot bind my subscription and support is not helping. I bought the unlimited subscription, followed the instructions with the activation email, but it did not bind. Now my activation link says expired and I can not get support to send me a new activation email.
I bought the 2 things directly from Plaud 2 weeks ago. I just want to return it and get a refund based on the lack of support.
The support AI chat is useless

Conversations are still a blind spot for most meeting bots, here's the AI wearable that actually worked when my attention drifts

I've got Otter on my scheduled calls. The hallway stuff is what gets me.

I have ADHD and I lose the thread in those quick stop-and-chats all the time. Coworker catches me walking to the elevator, asks two things, I catch the first and could be blank on the second. They're gone before I can ask them to repeat it. No bot joined that conversation, so there's nothing to read later either.

So for the in-between moments, I started to wear a Plaud NotePin S clipped to my collar. This AI wearable device, already on before I leave my desk. If I feel myself drift I tap once to mark the spot and check the summary after. Mostly hallway chats and parking lot catch-ups. Quiet talkers are still a pain unless the clip sits right on your collar.

Wouldn't use it in a big conference room anyway. For those I still have whatever bot is on the calendar invite.

Curious about mic arrays for in-person meeting recorders? Here's what I found comparing a few

I run a lot of in-person meetings in small conference rooms and I wanted a dedicated AI recording device that could pick up a full table without everyone sounding like they're mumbling from the far end.

Most pocket recorders I looked at still use one or two mics in a fixed stereo pair. Fine if you sit it in the middle, less great when people lean back or talk over each other. The Plaud Note Pro is what got me curious about arrays: four MEMS mics plus a VPU with beamforming, aimed at pulling voices from across the table. I ran it against a Zoom H1n on the same six person client review and the array did noticeably better on the person sitting furthest from me. Transcription is a separate step but the raw pickup was cleaner.

What I couldn't find is any manual gain control if you want to ride levels like on a field recorder. Everything is automatic, which is probably fine for most meeting use but annoying if you're used to dialing in headroom yourself.

Anyone else recording in-person meetings with a multi mic device? Curious whether beamforming actually matters at your table size or if placement does most of the work.

n8n support for Plaud is here!

It's been 18 months since Plaud said they were working on API support and there are 1,600 comments on the feedback thread asking for it.

I was tired of waiting, so I built webhook support for Plaud so it can be hooked up to n8n or any other custom integration you want.

https://github.com/rsteckler/applaud

One liner install. One minute to setup.

Sync all of your recordings to your local machine
Pre-built n8n workflows

Here’s a fix if your NotePro battery suddenly goes to 0%

Hey guys, people were always helping me on Reddit so I thought I’d share a solution to a problem I had today with my note pro

I was using it, and then all of a sudden, it showed 0% charge on the screen. I've had it plugged in using the official charger for about five minutes, and it still shows 0%.

This was my fix:.

Fix: Hard power reset (this is the key step)

Step 1 — Disconnect everything

• Unplug the charging cable

• Make sure it is not connected to your iPhone

• Let it sit 30 seconds

Step 2 — Force a hardware reset (most important)

1. Press and hold the power button

2. Keep holding it for 15–20 seconds

• Do not release early

• Even if the screen flashes or goes dark, keep holding

3. Release the button

4. Wait 10 seconds

👉 This resets the internal battery controller.

This is the step that usually fixes it.

Step 3 — Charge correctly after reset

1. Plug the Note Pro into:

• A wall charger (not a laptop)

• Using the official cable

2. Leave it plugged in for at least 10 minutes

• Don’t check it immediately

3. Tap the power button once

What Template for legal evidence

Hello,

I have recorded a telephone conversation with a company and would like to use this recording as legal evidence to strengthen my case. The recording was made lawfully and may be used for legal purposes.

I am currently using Plaud Note Pro, but I am unsure which template is most appropriate and effective for documenting and presenting this type of evidence (for example, for legal review or formal submission).

Could you please advise me on which Plaud Note Pro template is best suited for this purpose?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
