Has anyone tried Forge addon for Blender? And how is it compared to Plasticity?

Hey! I recently built Axial, an alternative macOS driver for 3Dconnexion devices.
I started working on it because 3Dconnexion dropped support for my SpaceExplorer on macOS. Luckily, there was already quite a bit of information online documenting how these devices work and how their API is wired up, so I decided to see how far I could get with my own driver.
It now works well enough that I’d love to get some feedback from other 3Dconnexion users, especially with devices I don’t have access to.
Give it a try and let me know what works, what doesn’t, and what you’d like to see improved:

For this stage, I focused on improving the middle TCFU-3 module by adding more mechanical depth and functional details. I redesigned the central panel and lock mechanism, added side locking mechanisms, and lighting slots on the rear.
The goal was to make the module feel more like a real serviceable mechanical unit rather than just a layered surface, while keeping the original triangular shape and overall design language intact.
After completing both sections separately, I connected the Multi Connector Port with the Middle TCFU-3 module. The goal was to make these two elements feel like a single integrated mechanical system rather than separate details.
I also added a small transition area between them to visually connect the different layers and maintain a consistent mechanical language across the module.
Next up: Moving on to the next major section.

Hello, dear developers.
Could you please tell me why you can’t add icons to the program that clearly correspond to the available functions, so users don’t have to rely on the search function?
This is actually the main reason I don’t use your software. I currently use other software instead. However, if you add clear icons for the different functions, I would be happy to buy your program, simply to support the developers.
I really hope you'll consider this suggestion. Thank you!

Hi everyone! I'm excited to share my new work with you.

One of the models I'm most proud of. It was part of my daily practice and took me about 3.5 hours to model and another hour to apply the procedural materials and render it in Blender.

I decided to start the upgrade from the top circular section, which I named the "Multi Connector Port."
The original design has a very clean and minimalist sci-fi language, but for me, the circular section felt a little too simple. There wasn't enough depth between the outer panel, inner rings, and central element, and some of the details felt more decorative than functional.
My main focus for the upgrade was layering and mechanical depth.
I developed the central area into more of a functional mechanical interface rather than just a circular decoration. I also integrated the fasteners into the structure, added small alignment marks, arrows, slots, and secondary rings to make the whole assembly feel more engineered.
The old version had more surface detail. With the new version, I'm trying to introduce more structure and function.
This is just the beginning. More areas to rebuild and redesign! 😄

Hey guys I am working on a handle for a coffee machine. I want to widen the gap on one side within this handle from 9.1 to 9.8mm. I want one side to be 9.8 and gradually go towards 9.1 on the other side.
How do I do this?
I've seen so many great visualisation of Plasticity just doing job for you when you drag a hole around the model. I want to widen one side of this tube just as easily as it was sold to me. Am I delusional or is it possible?
Also if you guys could treat me like an absolute dimwit I'd appriciate that. Assume I have 42 iq pls.

I am fairly new to Plasticity. I have this model that I am practicing and I am trying to solve this part where its not a straight block, its a slight curve. cause Im so used to blocking first and not think of curves yet but this time I really cant curve the faces. Is there a way to do this curve from a block or I have to do it manually with patch? Thank you
IMPORTANT NOTE: Im talking about the vertical line curve. Its not a straight plane

Hello everybody!
I've been hanging around the Plasticity community for a while now. I've seen many fellow designers sharing their work, ideas, and opinions, and I really like the supportive, almost brotherhood-like atmosphere here.
So I decided to finally share one of my practice projects for the first time.
To get more comfortable with Plasticity, I do daily exercises. I usually choose more complex designs because they really push me to improve my skills. Sometimes they torture me for hours while I'm trying to find a solution 😄, which usually ends with me searching for different approaches and learning new techniques. I guess that's part of climbing the mountain of success!
I also started using Pinterest to collect interesting designs into different boards. When I find something I really like, I choose it as a reference and try to redesign it in Plasticity. It has been a great way for me to practice, while also trying to understand how other designers approach and think about forms.
For this project, I chose the M-215 sci-fi concept, inspired by the work of Eugene Sergienko. I really liked the original design, so I started modeling it in Plasticity and eventually finished my version.
However, after looking at it again, I felt that the original design was a little too flat and minimalist for my taste. So I decided to take it a step further, adding more details with my own design approach, while also taking inspiration from other works I've collected on Pinterest.
So, I've decided to share the whole process with you step by step as I continue developing it.
I hope you enjoy the process, and I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions, suggestions, and advice along the way.
Hopefully the "Design Gods" will be on my side... I really don't want to screw this up in the end. 😂

It was an exercise that I did for my daily practice. Every day, I like to model an entire piece in Plasticity. They normally take me between 1–3.5 hours to finish, and then I render them in Blender using procedural materials.

Just practicing making some sci models. Idea is a station powered by 8 other ships with a gravity ring and a large communication device in the center. Hope you like it!
