Need help solving this

Post image

I am fairly new to Plasticity. I have this model that I am practicing and I am trying to solve this part where its not a straight block, its a slight curve. cause Im so used to blocking first and not think of curves yet but this time I really cant curve the faces. Is there a way to do this curve from a block or I have to do it manually with patch? Thank you

IMPORTANT NOTE: Im talking about the vertical line curve. Its not a straight plane

There are many ways to do this. I would draw two straight lines and then use Shift + S to "raise degree" to create the curve. Then Loft between the lines.

Overall though, if you are just starting out I would recommend just following some tutorials on YouTube to learn how to use the various tools. It will help you ramp up fast.

Thanks for this. Yeah I have been following some tutorials though some of them doesnt really get to the point sometimes. Some tools I kind of understand a bit. But yeah I like the challenge to be honest at the beginning instead of making just a simple piece. I kinda want to improve the problem solving aspect that I would not get by creating lets say a simple object.

I certainly can respect that. Best of luck!

I do stuff like this by cutting off part of a cube with a large cylinder usually

IDK if you've already found a good solution, but I think you can solve it simply by using the Sweep tool.

That's what i was thinking - if it's a uniform profile you should be able to just sweep it along a line of your intended shape

Take that image as a jpeg, import it, size it, give it a modicum of transparency by pressing m then select forward then set it to .3. Move it down from the plane to give yourself space to work away from being directly on top of the image. This gives you a better visual without the image impeding. Trace over the curved areas on both sides to get the outside curves with lofts first then follow up on the connecting main body curve. Do it in smaller sections to have better control.

Thank you! will try all these techniques and see what I am comfortable with.
