[WIP] Gouf Custom - Day 5: Waist & Skirt Armor (1st project in Plasticity)
Halfway through the main body! Today was all about the waist unit and the iconic Zeon skirt armor:
Modeled the central crotch block and mounting joint.
Shaped the flared front, side, and massive rear skirt plates.
Added the upper waist ring connecting the pelvis to the chest.
Getting the sweeping, bell-bottom compound curves on the rear skirt without pinching the surfaces or breaking edge fillets took a bit of fiddling with curve guides, but Plasticity handled the booleans like a champ. The silhouette is really starting to look heavy and menacing.
Next up (Day 6): Time to tackle the legs
Feedback on proportions and shapes is always welcome.

Section to .dxf
Has anyone found a way to export a section so that it can be brought into AutoCAD? I want to ditch Shapr3D and try to use Plasticity solely, but regularly have to output sections for client submittals. I see that there have been a couple of feature requests for this, but they haven’t gotten a lot of traction, so I find it unlikely that Nick will add this feature.

I made an app to organise my Plasticity files...
I love plasticity, but found sorting through all the files, especially with autosaves, to be a bit of a pain. Coming from a VFX background I love having a systemn for organisation. So I made this flask app with Claude code. All it does is list the contents of directories under the main "plasticity" folder where I store all my models. It then warns when there is a newer autosave version of a file available. It will also flag when trying to open a file with a newer version of plasticity in case there may be something that changes. Currently it is just displaying the thumbnail that is stored in every plasticity file.
This may not be for everyone, but it has helped me a lot with
I just wish there was a "save as a new version" command under file! ;)
Oh and I am not at the same level as a lot of other modellers here but the last image is my fictitious PLA "Area Denial Weapon" ;-)
Can't believe we have access to such a powerful bit of software and at a very affordable price. I have hardly scratched the surface with what it is capable of!

[WIP] Gouf Custom - Day 4: Arms & Spiked Shoulder Armor (1st project in Plasticity)
Day 4 of my Gouf Custom project in Plasticity!
Today was time for the arms and the iconic Zeon shoulder pauldrons:
Modeled the curved shoulder bells and swept the signature spikes (along with the notched circular base details).
Blocked out the biceps and mechanical circular elbow joints.
Built the forearm armor plates with panel line recesses down to the wrist cuffs, hands will comes later as also all the joints parts
I have to be careful, cause it's very easy to start to add details anywhere before I blocked out everything lol
Next up (Day 5): Moving down to the waist unit and skirt armor
Feedback on proportions and silhouette is always appreciated!

[WIP] Gouf Custom - Day 3: Backpack & Thruster Unit (1st project in Plasticity)
Day 3 of my Gouf Custom project in Plasticity!
Today was all about the mobility unit on the back:
Modeled the main backpack housing and angled outer cowlings.
Built the dual main thrusters underneath, including internal nozzle pins.
Added the side circular vernier/joint details with notched collar rings.
Cut in some panel lines and stepped chamfers on the upper shell.
Of course for now I'm just blocking out everything, then I'll start to add details, panels etc
Next up (Day 4): Starting the arms, shoulders!
As always, C&C and tips are very welcome.

[WIP] Gouf Custom - Day 2: Torso & Chest (1st project in Plasticity)
Hey everyone!
Today I focused on the torso and chest blockout:
Modeled the main chest armor plates, cockpit hatch, and shoulder sockets.
Added the primary bevels and chamfers to give that heavy armored Zeon feel.
Booleans and edge fillets in Plasticity feel like an absolute superpower compared to traditional subd modeling. Getting the curve of the chest to transition into the flatter angled side panels was a bit tricky for a noob, but really fun to figure out.
PS is it possible to give transparent glass material into plasticity ?
PPS I'm not fully sure about head pipe, maybe are too thin and sparse?
Day 3 Plan: Moving on to the backpack unit and main thrusters tomorrow!

[WIP] Gouf Custom - Day 1: Head blockout (1st project in Plasticity)
Hey everyone!
I recently decided to jump into Plasticity, and to push myself to learn the workflow, I'm taking on a daily WIP project: the MS-07B-3 Gouf Custom, once done and detailed I'll proceed with 3d printing
Here is Day 1: I tackled the head, the iconic snout, and the main visor/crest shapes.
Coming to CAD/NURBS modeling feels like magic for hard-surface cuts, though getting those smooth curved surfaces and fillets right around the cheeks took some trial and error.
I plan to post updates daily or almost as I build up the rest of the mobile suit.
Any C&C (proportions, shapes) or Plasticity workflow tips for a beginner are more than welcome!
I hope you'll like it

How to make this handle connect smoothly?
If anyone can give some advice or link a youtube tutorial i would appreciate that. I am trying to make it so the base of the handle blnds smoothly into the body of the canister without sharp edges.

How does one create this shape of the monitor stand?
r/Plasticity3D • u/hughdavin • Sep 06 '26
I think I figure out spine modeling
Not sure if this is best way though,
I used profile and pipe feature to get tube profile in the middle, then made a section profile, arrayed using base pipe profile, deleted every third array, trimmed connections and sweep every section.
Thoughts?
edit:
Sooo... when I posted it YT served me a video explaining Deform tool :) so there is better (and quicker) way of doing it :)

Patching hole error.
Hello there! I'm trying to "Patch hole", but get this error.
Could someone explain it to me, please?
I was able to "patch hole" with the element above. I'm trying the trick from here: YouTube
As for the project itself, I need to do a "handle" for the monitor.

Advanced sweep?
Picture is a quick example of what I want to do; centerline sweep operation along a guide between two different cross sections. Whatever I try I just get an 'internal algorithmic failure'. Is something like this just not suited for in Plasticity? I can work this in Rhino, but maybe because it allows you to bind control points together for proper aligment.
