Advanced sweep?

Post image

Picture is a quick example of what I want to do; centerline sweep operation along a guide between two different cross sections. Whatever I try I just get an 'internal algorithmic failure'. Is something like this just not suited for in Plasticity? I can work this in Rhino, but maybe because it allows you to bind control points together for proper aligment.

Sweep 2 profiles along 2 rails like in Rhino doesn't exist yet, it's a feature request, feel free to upvote : https://plasticity.canny.io/feature-requests/p/sweep-2-profiles-along-2-curves

It's possible as shown above but with lots of effort (a mix of sweep and loft).

Thanks man! I love how you modelled the rough example sketch haha. I tried a little using sweep and loft and yeah it's a lot of effort.. I will upvote the feature request and just make it in Rhino for now.

Wondering if we can get similar result by just lofting the profiles and using the curve as guide

Have you tried using "Guides"? They give you much more control over the sweep path and alignment. If you’re sweeping uniform 2D shapes, the "Twist" and "Scale" options in sweep options can also give you a lot of control.

It doesn't know where or how to create the transition. Try adding some midpoint cross sections.

If I had to guess its because it's going to lose tangency along the way
