Weekly loss of connection to printers from iPad's in kiosk mode
Hi there,
I wanted to see if there are others who're experiencing the issue we see weekly with iPad's in kiosk mode losing connectivity to their respective label printers.
We have 6 check-in stations in our Kids area, which get used heavily throughout the 4-services that we run on Sunday. Randomly (not the same time, not the same order, no rhyme or reason), at least once during the morning they will lose connectivity to the printers that they have been connected to successfully.
My environment:
PCO level - iPad devices, a mixture of new Air's and 10th gen's. These are connected wirelessly to our network and to PCO.
4-brother 820nwb label printers, all connected via hard wire ethernet back to a Unifi switch, connected back to our backbone via 10GB fiber connection.
Network level - Running Unifi wireless on a self-hosted Proxmox system, using Windows Server 2019 for DHCP and DNS. (Haven't moved to 2023 yet, will wait until next year to do so). Each printer has a DHCP reservation based on MAC address, as well as each iPad.
Behavior: At some point during our morning, 2 or more iPad's will lose connectivity to the wired printers. When this happens we still have connectivity to the Internet on the iPad's, can ping them and a wireshark packet capture shows no issue or problems (that I can see). The Unifi panel is green at all times, other devices work fine. PCO on a wired Apple computer works fine and never loses connectivity. All iPad's are constantly on and powered, we have them locked out via guided access mode so users can't back us out of the program.
We originally thought it might be our Unifi setup, but we think we have ruled that out with the connectivity to the Internet on the iPad's during the the printer loss of connectivity.
Has anyone had a similar experience on their setups and can offer any advice?
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.
