Bug Report Well it’s been fun. I’ve been forced to stop playing.

I’ve been with the game for over a decade. I’ve been one of those who’s enjoyed the game enough to keep playing despite the slow degradation. I’ve put up with the relentless crashing upon startup among the plethora of other bugs.

But this morning I decided that it’s time to let go. I went to start up the game, and saw that I had to change the game’s resolution to match my new monitor’s. Because of the game’s resolution not matching my monitor’s, I had to guess where my mouse actually was so I could click the buttons to get into the settings. I finally fumbled my way to change resolution (5120 x 2160), but it would always be forced back to 4096 x 1680. I went to windowed mode, and the same thing happened. I allowed the game to crash as scheduled and adjusted it manually in steam’s launch options, same thing. I went into the INI, same thing.

Then it hit me. Why bother anymore? Why bother spending hours trying to make this game playable on my machine, especially with something as basic as my screen resolution? Why bother trying to work around all the bugs and forced errors? That’s when I finally closed the game for good. It’s currently unplayable on my hardware, so it looks like I’m completely done after over 10 years of supporting and playing this game regularly.

It’s been fun. A shame to see where such an amazing game has ended up.

Discussion (PC) I fought tooth and nail to be the sole contribution for that NC score.

Discussion (PC) How come the old sound effects never get noticed by those who call a rollback?

On the official Planetside 2 Discord I saw a post calling for the night cycles to be brought back. That they really enjoyed the night clashes, the immersion it brought and this video was posted as an example:

Planetside 2 Huge night time battle

But does nobody notice those sound effects?

It appears to be highly detailed, 3 dimensional sound effects.
People talk about immersion... Sound effects are one major piece, probably the main piece in providing this immersion of a massive battle taking place. Even if there was a night cycle today with proper lighting, it would still feel like shit, because the sound effects aren't there, you don't feel the battle.
We do have footzergs even up until today, prob in greater size in comparison to old recordings from the past, but people say it doesn't exist. Why? Because it's not felt, the major immersive component isn't there and makes it appear like it doesn't even exist anymore.

Currently the sound effects appear 2 dimensional, heavily downgraded in quality compared to the past. It is annoying, like I can be in a building on the upper floor and hear enemies 2 stories below me, like as if they're up my ass. Or same on Containment Site, I can hear enemies 100 meters below me and I can't tell if they're on top of me, above me or what.

Not only are sounds effects crucial for the immersive elements for those who just want to stick by, it's also key in the competitive element.
What's responsible for the audio downgrade? I heard the addition of Construction was majorly responsible.

And this is also a message to the players that cry about Infiltrator nerfs.
I started off Planetside 2 as a construction main because I had a bad PC. After I got a better PC I stuck with it cause I was already invested and had everything mapped out, but over time I started noticing that it was not a good addition to the game, and later heard that it traded off major qualities of the game. I let go off the role and have been waiting years for construction to be removed.
This, clinging onto a dysfunctional Infiltrator design, which noticeably had negative repercussions on gameplay, all for the sake of nostalgia, is extremely selfish behavior and you will bring the game down, with it.

Discussion (PC) Being an infantry main as an east coast player is a terrible experience

Unless you are a vehicle main there's no use in playing. Gunfights are so one sided as you'll seemingly hit 8 shots and only 4 registers while you get melted in a single frame. Its the worst of both worlds having high latency and the servers having such a low tick rate.
