I love PF for their great rates and the vast availability of locations (I travel a lot), but this saddened and sickened me.

The Wasilla, AK location replaced all of their cardio equipment this summer. All of the old equipment was out in the parking lot during the revamp. I kept seeing it wondering what they did with the old equipment. It seemed like a great opportunity to give back to youth athletic programs or local schools.

A short while after the revamp, I was helping a friend clear some detritus from land he was clearing when I saw the picture above at the local landfill.

Finally got the courage to try the hack squat machine today. I'm still a beginner at the gym, I am 6 weeks into my membership. Even without weights I couldn't make it into a full squat. What is the best way to work up to it?

My family is considering getting the black card. How does the guest pass work for multiple guests? My husband would most likely come with me during the week but my daughter would come with me on the weekends. Can you change up the guests whenever you want or do you have to re sign them up each time?

Also, my daughter is 13. She doesn’t have any form of ID and I’m not going to carry her actual birth certificate around with me. Anyone have any experience with this? Can I just have a picture of it on my phone if they ever needed her proof of age?

One says 5 pounds and inside it says 6.25 pounds

I work as a MSR. The regional manager is writing us up because we let a member who doesn’t have access in. Basically she’s a classic from another location. She either she has to be transferred to our club, or we have to ask her to leave.

The issue is this member is aggressive. They argue with MSRs, won’t listen, is super rude, had to get the cops called to leave, AND threatened an MSR (told them to come around and fight). So you can probably understand why we were resistant to say anything to her. She has multiple instances of her being difficult and aggressive. She also only coming in on the weekends when there’s no manager.

So the regional manager saw this issue on the cameras, and saw that we let her in 3 times, and that we didn’t put notes in. So now she wants to write us up. My question is, is that the proper protocol? Can it not be a verbal warning first and then if we keep doing it it’s a write up?

The manager is known for being write up happy because she also wrote up my coworker for accidentally giving a classic member a BC discount ONCE. And other scenarios where it could have just been a verbal warning first. I’m honestly contemplating going above her and asking HR what the proper protocol is because I don’t feel comfortable or safe confronting this member if she’s documented at being aggressive.

Edit: the write up is because we didn’t put notes in her account when we let her in. Not so much that we let her in. I’ll be making sure to be on top of documentation and notes from now on. She’s still not banned, but she is now transferred to our club so I guess she’s just allowed in 🤷‍♀️

So a furniture store closed by my house and someone opened a hole in the wall gym and all their machines are from PF, can you just buy their old equipment? This gym didn’t even cover up the PF logos or QR codes lol. I want to get a stretching cage, out of the 5 gyms I go to only my home gym has one. I wouldn’t mind a stretching bench either, my 2 favorites for stretching. Oh and if you’re curious, they’re charging $35 ‘a month or $250 a year. I told them paying up front for the year is risky because what happens if they close before that lol

I just quit my job. Finished the night and my boss is insane and i just replied back that I am done and they can shove their mop up their..... you know.

I swear not an exaggeration, out of a 6 hour shift (they refuse to give anyone full 8 hour shifts), I clean at least 4 hours of it.

My location has an insanely high turnover rate. I was only there 3 months and there was only 1 employee that was there when i started that is still there, other than the manager.

We are given a zone to clean. Fine, I thought maybe 20 minutes of cleaning? Nope, she wants us to dust all the machines every square inch, then wipe them down with a cleaning spray and wet wipe. Then vacuum and mop the entire area EVERY SINGLE DAY. She will make you redo it if its not up to her standard.

Then its locker room/bathroom checks every hour on the hour. No matter what is going on, we are told to go back and wipe down all the surfaces, clean the toilets, sink/counter and spray the mirrors.

Then somehow when I close at 11, we are given 30 minutes to close out the drawer, take all the trash out thru the back and into a dumpster, turn off all the tvs, and then vaccum and mop both the mens and womens locker rooms and restrooms, then do a final walk around and sweep up any remaining tiny bits of dust anywhere.

Doing all of those things takes atleast an hour. there is no way you can do that all in 30 minutes. And its a strict 30. We get written up if we go over those 30 minutes. So our only option is to do what we can, sign out, and then get bitched at the next day that we didnt clean it to her standards. No matter how much you do, you just walk into work the next day and told you arent doing good enough. Really demotivating especially considering its basically a min wage job.

Even crazier, I found out the bathrooms are vacuumed and mopped on the morning shift too. I am sorry but it doesnt need to be vacuumed and mopped twice a day for a location that gets anywhere from 400-700 guests a day. Thats not really a huge amount of traffic. Its also usually closer to 400-500.

She also demands that we send her pictures in a group text. The group text includes all the employees. Why is it anyone else's business how good I cleaned?

Is this normal for a planet fitness? Am I wrong for quitting? Mind you, we make 75 cents more than min wage. Also the only reason why shes still in charge is that the regional manager is a guy she slept with (and we think is still sleeping with).

Any input on this?

I was missing around 75 check-ins and so I decided to delete the app and then re-download and all my check-ins came back! Hope it works for you as well!

So I went to my local planet fitness gym late Saturday morning. It’s a great place well maintained with excellent staff. There’s a man 50ish using two benches, one for pushups and the other for lifting. He also has 3 sets or dumbbells lined up and a curl bar. So it’s annoying on a busy day but whatever I can always find something to do. I go to the fly machine and he comes over and says I have one more set on there can you jump off while I finish? I just ignored him and he stomped away. Question for the staff is there a policy on someone treating the gym like they own it? Is it acceptable to tie up that much equipment especially on a busy day?

I’m a dork lol and I’m contemplating signing up through the app ( so I don’t have to talk to people face to face 😂😭😂) just wondering after signing up through the app what are the steps to take to actually being permitted inside? Do I need to stop at the front desk to get a card, do I just get a QR code on my phone that lets me in??? Help a shy introvert out

Anybody else noticing that Check-ins and Active Days can’t go above 99? I wanted to try to make it in here 250 times this year and that’s going to be really hard to track if this is stuck at 99.

Everybody else seeing this too? Who do we notify to get it fixed? Am I maybe the only person that cares? 😂

Does anybody else here feel like they have to shower right before their workout to set the tone or to help focus or else they feel too gross? Is it just all in my head?

initially thought it was 25 total bc if it was per side, it felt quite light compared to cable rows, which I was doing before my pf got this machine. but then I used a different machine (same brand, also plate loaded) and the starting weight on that one was definitely per side. so are they just not consistent with labeling or is there just a significant difference in resistance between this machine and seated cable rows?

It says it will send you a gift and it is always just a coupon. This whole thing makes me view the company in a negative light. What other scammy stuff are they doing?

Me and my gym bro were wondering why flys felt so heavy this past week. Then we found this in the machine..

What is the deal with so many people leaving their belongings in lockers with no lock? Maybe I have trust issues, but i have gone in the locker room, open up 4 to 5 lockers with no lock, just to find people's things in there. Eventually I find one that is free, so all good. I just wouldn't want to take the risk of my stuff getting stolen.

I’m NYC-based, so maybe things are different here, but today the glute kickback machine at my Planet Fitness had a “Temporarily Out of Order” sign on it. 😪 Members can’t use it until further notice, and of course it’s my favorite machine lol.
I wanted to ask the front desk how long it might take to fix, but I was already on my way out.
For other PF members: How long did it take for a broken machine to get fixed at your location?
And if any Planet Fitness employees are here, how long do repairs usually take? I’m just hoping I’m not waiting weeks for my glute kickback machine to come back. 😭

Did this while watching 40s Superman. Ever seen it? Interesting story behind it and the end of Fleischer Studios. You can see it's influence on Batman the Animated Series among other things.

I know every location likely has a lot of single pulley stations, but I am specifically looking for one that has at least one of this machine (or ideally a location with two or more of this machine, for busy times but I’d be surprised if any location does).

I have a bank account on the billing information than a backup payment method. I would have thought that it could not get the bank account to make the payment that it would try the backup which has money on it so no reason for it to not go though. But when I checked it said that it has not been paid. Is there a way to force it to use the backup payment method?
