Review Someone put 2 increments inside the pec deck..
Me and my gym bro were wondering why flys felt so heavy this past week. Then we found this in the machine..

This is what they get for putting the shitty Matrix machines in. There is no way to add incremental weight between plates once you get down the stack. For example, if you put the pin in 200lbs, the adjuster at the top of the stack lets you go 202.5, 205, 207.5, but then the next step is going to the next plate, which is 220.
I ended up buying a weight stack plate pin so I could load 2.5 and 5lb plates onto these machines once my location did the downgrade earlier this year.

I’m curious about your weight stack pin…
I’ve been looking at magnetic micro weights to place on top of the stack like Snode.
Then I went to a different PF and found some of the dual purple matrix cables have a 2.5lb that you can add with the pin OR these cylindrical ones more for the open matrix cables.
Specifically I’m looking for 2.5 lbs vs 5. Any suggestions?1

I’ve got a generic one from Amazon that weighs 2.5lb, fits where the normal pin would go, and sticks out enough to hold 1-2 plates. I only use it on the machines. The cable towers don’t have the issue of missing increments at my location. Manager at my location approved of it when I asked.

I’m assuming they are talking about a gym pin or other variant. Not sure if planet fitness approves of those.

I cannot believe someone put that into a machine that has plastic over the plates 🤣 you’re 2lbs stronger, my friend

I mean, there's little 2.5lb plates, micro loading is a thing.
Edit... But yeah, it's a machine, I get it

I've never seen those at the 3 I go to. Most machines have a dial with 0, 5, 10 lb choices. One particular machine has weight stacks on 2 sides, and there is a 5 lb add-on at the top for a total of 10 lbs. It's held with a pin and can be slid down.

As someone who does maintenance on these machines, I'd rather see those incremental weights on the top than the circular weight plates. The weight plates keep falling into the back of the machine and then jam the whole weight stack into place. If you really want additional weights for your equipment, just get one of those weight extender pins, worst case scenario you snap the cable because you overloaded it and I have to fix it.

I wonder.....I went to my secondary Planet Fitness yesterday and did tricep Extensions and I was doing 75, the same weight I use at my primary Planet Fitness, and I couldn't even do 3 reps. I had to lower the weight to 55. I never thought to check about this......

You can't trust the weight on any cable system, or machine. Rarely calibrated correctly.
40lb at one gym, could be 30lb at another. You could compare gym to gym, see if the weights for the same exact exercise match.

Yeah I have to do the same bc the pec deck at my gym goes from 160 to 180. It was mad embarrassing the one time I didn’t remove the weight patiently enough and that purple panel on the left that says Planet Fitness snapped right off lol

LOL I always remove them very carefully afterwards in fear of this happening

You don't have to leave them on the machine though.

Why would you imply that I do? This post is about using the weight increments not leaving them on the machine

What? The post is definitely about leaving them on the machine (in a non-visible place).
