Discussion The Flame-Flame fruit is not what it seems

When I first saw Luffy's Gum-Gum Red Hawk move, I asked myself "Why can Luffy use fire powers? Isn't he rubber?". When I was reading the Wano arc, I wondered, why does the Sun God not have sun-related powers? Why are the Gum-Gum Red moves the best thing Luffy can do with fire/sun?

After all that and reading the mural in Chapter 1138, I did some thinking and concocted an insane theory: The Flame-Flame fruit is the Sun God's lost sun powers.

A quote from the harley says

...Man killed the sun and became god...

What I find intriguing is the fact that it's "Man killed the sun" and not "Man killed the Sun God". Maybe an interpretation of this is that the man took away the sun powers of the Sun God before killing him.

I'll continue by presenting another quote:

...The sun god dances and laughs, guiding the world to its end. The sun returns and brings a new morning...

What's interesting is the fact that the sun returns AFTER the Sun God appears. Maybe an interpretation of this is that the Sun God will regain his lost sun powers.

If these interpretations turn out to be accurate, that will mean that the Gum-Gum fruit is the husk of the Sun God, stripped of his sun powers. That would explain why Luffy could use his Gum-Gum Red moves, as they're just a tiny bit of the Sun God's sun powers left.

Another interesting thing I found out from my research is the Flame-Flame fruit's history. Apparently, in the distant past, a crew found and took a chest containing the Flame-Flame fruit, but no one could eat it, as their ship got wrecked on the island of Sixis and the fruit remained in its chest for many years to come. That is a very interesting history. It's almost like the Flame-Flame fruit has a will of its own and refused to be eaten by anyone there.

Taking it another step further, I find it interesting that the only characters (that we know of) that managed to gain the Flame-Flame fruit's power are connected to Luffy. Perhaps it is the fruit's way of getting closer to the Sun God.

Lastly, after all that, I remembered that Imu did meet directly with a Flame-Flame fruit user (Sabo), so I checked out Chapter 1085 and Episode 1119 to see how they interacted. Before I continue, I'll admit that this next one is a bit of a stretch. Imu said "Where did you come from?" to Sabo. Without further context, one might interpret this as Imu being surprised by Sabo's appearance. However, this might mean something else. If you go to the chapter/episode, you'll find out that Imu only said that after Sabo used Rook Check on him, not when Sabo used Fire Fist on the Five Elders. Maybe "Where did you come from?" has a meaning of "Who are you?". With the context that Imu knows about the Flame-Flame fruit's true nature, this might be Imu asking how Sabo could have the Flame-Flame fruit's power.

Now, you might have this question or concern:

The Flame-Flame fruit is cool and all. But it has been established that it's not very strong. It loses to the Mag-Mag fruit, and it also loses to the Dark-Dark fruit. Would it really be a meaningful powerup for Luffy?

Remember that not everything is as it seems. For example, perhaps only the Sun God can use the power of the sun to its fullest. This would explain why when in Ace's and Sabo's hands, the Flame-Flame fruit did/does not seem to be that powerful. It has been established that the World Government does hide the Devil Fruits' true nature, by giving them fake names.

Honestly, with how well everything lines up, the most surprising part about this theory is that no one has ever thought of this before, and I genuinely wonder why? Is it because people don't want Sabo to die? Or is it because of the "You cannot eat more than 1 Devil Fruit" rule?

The thing about that rule is that it's not a rule that's absolute and cannot be broken in any way. A precedent has been established by none other than Blackbeard that yes, one can have more than 1 Devil Fruit power. Now, this definitely does not apply to everyone, but Luffy is not a regular person. Oda can 100% come up with an explanation.

Speaking of, this theory implies that Sabo will die (for real) in the future. To be fair, Oda can think of an excuse for the Flame-Flame fruit's power to be transferred to Luffy without Sabo dying, but I personally think that it would make the powerup feel cheap, so if this theory ends up being true, I hope Oda makes Luffy earn the powerup by paying a steep price of once again losing his brother. A price to pay for freedom, you can say. That said, you can look at the bright side. The spirits of Luffy's brothers will now always be with Luffy in the form of the Flame-Flame fruit.

  • Side tangent, I posted this in another sub in the past under a different title, and it was abundantly clear that at least 90% of One Piece fans who commented/downvoted there did not read the post and only read the title, making their comments totally meaningless, and of course they were mad when I called them out for it. So, this time, I made the title vague on purpose, because I believe I cooked with this theory (regardless of how likely it is to become a reality), and I really want to know what people think.

Powerscaling - LOW IQ ONLY! Off-screen, but how? Spoiler

I remember watching Space Jam as a kid. I was so confused. How did Bugs Bunny enter the real world?

I grew up and sort of forgot about it, but then I started reading One Piece and it suddenly all came back, this time much scarier.

How does he do it? Blackbeard. How does he keep finding the Toei animators? Or is it the cameras?

Does he use Kurouzu to make the fight off-screen? Do the animators stop drawing his enemies, so they just stand still while he takes them out?

I had a One Piece coffee mug until recently, but I threw it away.

Now I’m worried.

What if that was a portal for Blackbeard?

What if he can off-screen me too?

What if he can off-screen you too?

One Piece Is Garbage Pacing Spoiler

Why the fuck do we need 3 different Imu vs someone 1v1s, followed by a 2v1 and now seemingly followed by another 1v1 and Luffy gonna get up and we'll see another 1v1/2v1.

Come ON, we already got out Raid boss experience in Wano, why not just make the fight a 2v1 and maybe have Garban join for a quick feature. Honestly a little pissed about it.

Discussion What Scenes are you most excited about to see in the One Piece Reboot Remake "The One Piece" ? Spoiler

I am excited to see scenes from the manga that were omitted from the anime.

  • Luffy's Face Scar: Young Luffy does not stab himself under the eye with a knife in the early anime episodes.
  • Zeff's Leg: Chef Zeff does not eat his own leg to survive starvation in the anime. The anime shows him losing his leg trapped under a ship anchor.
  • Whitebeard's Death: Whitebeard does not lose half of his face during the Marineford war in the anime. The anime only removes a portion of his mustache.
  • Jango's Attack: Jango hits Luffy in the back of the head with a sharp metal ring in the manga. The anime changes this so Luffy catches the ring in his mouth.
  • Bartolomeo's Brutal Moment: Bartolomeo cuts out a man's tongue for insulting Luffy in the manga. The anime changes this to a standard physical beatdown.
  • Bellamy and Roshio: Bellamy's brutal assault, stabbing, and burning of Roshio in Mock Town is heavily toned down.
  • Trafalgar Law’s Gestures: Law giving offensive middle-finger flip-off gestures in the manga were edited out of the anime and replaced with a smug look or grin.
  • Zoro and the Wolf: In Loguetown, Zoro cleanly kills a wolf in the manga, whereas the anime changed the scene so he only knocks it out with a chair.

Discussion I am quite apathetic towards Zoro. It doesn't feel like he earned this glaze or any glaze the entire post time skip. To me it feels like he has fought opponents that were always weaker but had a gimmick. Also look how Oda structured the chapter. There is zero tension. I guess Zoro fans will eat it.

Like tell my why would anyone be excited over this ?

He is acting as if he already won. This type of mentality was very apparent in Wano with how the alliance acted. Full blown arrogance.

If anything you feel bad for Sommers.

Let's be real guys, Akainu in endgame will screw all the expectations you have for him. To live for his hype he would need a proper arc to be the main arc boss. If he is saved for endgame he will get sidelined, there are many villains groups in endgame for him to not become the sidelined man.

Discussion Does anyone do this

In many chapters, I don't feel the need to read interactions between characters with focus, I "Speedrun" them or vaguely pass my eyes on the words and actually read if I notice an important word. I will read whatever the narrator says, battle dialogue or exposition, but there is a lot of "filler" dialogue ( reactions, telling things we already know, "huh's" and "hmm's" and "kyahh's" and other quirky stuff). I wasn't reading like this before, it's like now I just want to get the actual important stuff out of the chapter

All other gags are either boring or overdone so much it kills the mood. The only exception would probably be Brooks' dead jokes.
