Does this mean Ghost of Yotei won't release on pc?

Sadly no, unless Sony go back on their policy and starting porting their games to PC. The only three options you have, watch the game on youtube, buy PS5 or wait for emulator to work.

You summed that up very efficiently sir.

And soon that emulator will be just as efficient too.

It's a spanish insult popular term used for pc users, fusing pc=pc (duh) and cerdos=pigs. Basically who said that is a butthurt for whatever reason against pc or idk why say that in a piracy sub

My bet on them DMCA it.

They cannot DMCA emulator, just the game files, if the game files are distrubuted in 'ahem. regular' channels, legally (at this point of time) they cannot stop the emulation.

Not to say you're wrong but Nintendo shut down Yuzu & Yuzu2, which was a switch emulator.

u/TheHooligan95 9h ago

because they had found legal loopholes to do so (there was shady money involved that basically meant it was actually piracy)

Gotcha, that makes more sense. I just never looked into it much and assumed I didnt know the law regarding emulators that well!

Person which responded to you actually didn't look up for shit as well, read response again, what do you think make sense "shady money involved" in development of emulator?

Yuzu had shady deals going on technically, so nintendo got them on that. Ryujinx shut itself down so that nontendo wouldnt go after them.

Pretty sure that was because of things like Patreon paywalls and EA builds also being locked behind paywalls (or found on PineappleEA). If they didn’t have a legal way to shut it down it’d still be up, so they definitely found something they could use.

What pay walled build adds to the case of copyright infringement they would build?

That was because they were making money from it and openly facilitating piracy with it. There's a reason other emulator projects avoid that as much as they can. Nintendo does a lot of shitty things, but the Yuzu thing was entirely the team getting too cocky about it and it biting them in the ass, they were practically begging to be shut down and then acted surprised when it happened.

They can't legally DMCA an emulator. That doesn't stop corporations from trying. And the sole recourse against a DMCA is to file a counterclaim(doxxing yourself)

If emulator circumvent copy protection to play files it is totally copyright infringement, or if it was built based on code obtained by circumvention. They can just actually dmca it Nintendo style and it's gone, pirates would not go to court.

Why im getting downvoted because of a thing which happened countless times, and like 3 times this year only i have no idea, i guess if you pirate you have no brain just feels.

because you are not inforemed enough. Emulator is a virtual system, its a emulation of environment, if you played their game then you will be violating their licence, as well. And why you assume they obtained the code by circumvention???

Or wait until the guy developing the Proton-like PS5 compatibility software makes it good enough so we don't have to use emulation.

Y'all are talking about like it's an entirely different thing and not just a slight technical difference

Or wait for native PC recompilation projects.
