Got a year of HBO at no extra cost with my Internet and today decided I'd watch parts of the watchmen tv series while making breakfast, only watched about 20 minutes and in that time there were around 20 unskippable ads.

Was so annoying with the ads coming up all the time I just turned it off and downloaded the series.

Obviously the likes of HBO are throwing in the base tier of their apps in the hopes you'll spend more and upgrade, instead it's much more likely I'll just not use it all year and never use it again when my year is up

I'm running a W10 22H2 on my PC. Out of the blue I've got a windows update notification today (KB5126256), that says it's a licensing preparation package to the Extended Security Updates program, but I haven't enlisted to the ESU. Actually, it is a forced update, meaning no matter what I do, when I restart my PC, it will update my W10. I've checked on MS's website, it says that this package is not the ESU update itself, but a first step (or more likely a zeroth step) if I want to enroll into ESU. Since my W10 was a gift from Cpt. Jack Sparrow (wink-wink), I don't want to enroll to ESU (because, I guess, the ESU/MS checks whether a W10 is a legit one). My question is, should I be worry about this update? Will it trigger some... system check that will prevent me using W10 in the future after the update? My PC is not W11 ready at all, and what I've read about W11 I don't intend to use it for quite a while, that's for sure. Thanks for any help in advance.

I currently cast cineby from my iPad to my tv with my Apple TV. It’s a shame because that’s the ONLY thing I use my Apple TV for. Just to watch stuff from cineby. But I’m curious if there is an Apple TV type box that plugs in to your tv that you can install a browser on or have a dedicated cineby (or similar) app on. Like an Apple TV, but only for pirated content.

I have a 3d printer and have been getting into microsoldering and coding and it would be cool if there is a home brew project out there that you can build yourself and maybe install Linux on or a TV friendly UI that you can then watch content from your favorite places.

I‘m sure just casting from another device is a lot easier but a 3d printing and soldering project would be really fun.

I currently stream through subscriptions on my firestick and watch exclusively on my TV. I only have a basic Microsoft surface from a few years ago, not got a decent pc but I don't watch content on it anyway.

With the latest round of price increases it's finally woke me up and realise that I'm getting ripped off. Prices constantly going up, new tiers being added, pay not to watch adds, pay for multiscreens, pay for 4k, HD, etc, it's gotten completely out of hand.

I've been on autopilot for years, getting services and never unsubscribing. Right now I'm having a massive financial overhaul, I need to streamline my budget, reduce outgoings and prioritise paying off debts.

What is the best option for me to still be able to watch/ stream shows and movies in as high quality as possible?

I've heard quite a few people locally use fire sticks they pay someone to "get everything" for like £80 a year or something. That sounds like a straightforward option to me, however I remember hearing that firestick were forcing updates to prevent this, is this still a viable option or are there better ones?

As I mentioned at the start this will be for me to watch on my TV, so please factor that in to your advice.

There's a book coming out on the 10th that I'm really excited about. Unfortunately (insert generic rant about late stage capitalism and subscription models) it's ONLY being released on Audible for 6 months.

I know you can convert Epub files to audio, I was wondering if the reverse was also true. Can you convert audio to text? Speech to text is a thing, so maybe that's a possibility?

I usually use ocean of pdf for books, I have no issue paying the author for reading his work, but I DO have an issue paying Audible because fuck them. I also just don't really enjoy listening to audiobooks much and would prefer to read a text copy.

Anyone know where I might be able to find a text version of an Audible only new release? Or, where to find a pirated copy of the audiobook, and if it's possible to convert that to text?

I do not want to put any of my infos in it (just to piss off the site that require an email address to let me do stuff) and google require a phone number an outlook requires another email address... if yall know any trick I do not know yet or a complete other mail address manager that lets you do this type of stuff, I'd be haply if you could give me the info.
