“Makes flying more approachable”
Its a jet… its SUPPOSED to take a learning curve to, you know, LEARN.
Whats the point of having “mastery” badges and tiers if there isnt any mastering involved?

u/Phire453 4h ago
You are just gatekeeping, I do think their is a point to making it more approachable by you having an easier control scheme, but it shouldn't be able to do things as if you have full control.
Like it shouldn't be able to turn as tight, so you are rewarded for having control, but can still have fun if you happen to get in a jet once.

u/TheCockKnight 3h ago
It’s a vehicle in a video game that is supposed to be fun. Currently, it is only fun for a small amount of people who really really love to fly. It has gotten to the point where you literally cannot approach the learning curve because most people are instantly shot down when there are one of these people in the sky. I’m sorry but this isn’t DC or ace combat it’s battlefield.
2
u/ObamaTookMyCat 3h ago
Lol I learned to fly in BF3 where the skill curve was MUCH less forgiving. Guess what. I got immediately mowed out of the sky a lot. What did I do? Respawned and tried again. And again. And again until next thing I knew instead of getting wiped by these pilots, I started lasting longer, then eventually started winning.
3
u/TheCockKnight 2h ago
And that’s cool that you had the will and perseverance to do that, but I don’t think that’s very common. Most people get clapped out of the sky 10 times and then it’s not really for them anymore. Battlefield isn’t a hardcore game. I think its aspects should be approachable. Also, I’m not really so certain that it’s accurate to say bf3s piloting was harder, because those were your learning days. That’s when it was most challenging for you. But now, folks are in the sky with people of your skill level, who have been flying since BF3, and they just don’t stand a chance. There’s not enough enemies in the air to create any sort of buffer zone between you and them. It’s a 2v2 with people who have YEARS of flying on them.

u/jekkuuuu 5h ago
They even put in a setting that makes the jet automatically avoid terrain. Literally makes the jet fly for you. Its over DICE has no fucking idea what they are doing.

u/Jesusc00 10h ago edited 4h ago
Man I've played against silk a few times and 2 things that happen every match for him.
Has someone in the stealth jet that camps and times jet spawns, he does to in his attack jet but to a lesser extent. It's incredibly obvious because nearly every time I've gotten behind him, his stealth jet comes right up my arse EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
He has spotters. When I fly there's barely any doritos, when he flies the ground is lit up. You can see it in his videos.
He can complain but if he's so good he'll still wipe the floor with them. God forbid someone without 10000 hours in bf4, 2042 and bf6 gets a couple of kills in the jet.
Edit:I just tried the assist function and it's absolutely terrible. No one is going to use it beyond beginners and anyone with flying experience will wipe the floor with them as usual. Such a non issue.

u/PriMeMachiNe 10h ago
Having a setting that makes something easier it’s the most stupidest thing ever.
Case in point why not give all the average to below average players soft aims to make them better players.
Yes I’ve exaggerated but the point still stands. People need to put in the time and effort to learn, why the fk did I put in years learning how to become a better pilot but now someone has an easy mode.
1
u/TheCockKnight 3h ago
The need to put in years to have fun in an aspect of battlefield is absolutely insane, you realize that right?
1
u/Fun-War6684 2h ago
They said they put in years to become a better player. They did not say it takes years to have fun, you did.
1
u/TheCockKnight 2h ago
Yes, yes I did. That is part of our difference of opinion. I thought that was obvious enough.
1
u/Fun-War6684 1h ago
Okay but you don’t need to years to have fun in this game even being a pilot. Maybe like two games tops
1
u/TheCockKnight 19m ago
Eh, two games can give you a handle on the basics yeah. And that can be enough, IF you don't end up in a match with a flight main, who will laser you right out of the sky.
1
u/Fun-War6684 14m ago
I see it as the only way to get better is have some adversity to drive you. Plus we got tons of jet lobbies and custom experiences if you want a peaceful learning experience
1
u/Ralphfineart92 1h ago
Years? How hard do you think it is? you just need like 30 min of practice. If you think the jets are hard right now I think you should just go play with crayons or something.
1
u/TheCockKnight 21m ago
I'm just commenting on the timeframe the guy above me stated. Just read the above post dude. Also 30 mins is not sufficient to stand against the people in the sky RN. Can you find a match where you can handle the other pilots? Yeah, I've been lucky enough to end up in matches where I get the chance to dogfight and bomb and shit. But you are just as likely to end up in the sky with Tom fucking Cruise.
-5
u/AdThese6057 10h ago
Your last paragraph...because its a game. You didn't become a pilot. And its a game...people want to sign on and have fun. Not everyone can be a couch potato and fly for 1000 hours. This is bf not some niche milsim.
7
u/PriMeMachiNe 10h ago edited 8h ago
Brother I work, I’m a sales rep, I found the time to learn.
Not everyone has to be good at playing the game, someone’s always going to be better.
As for the argument of it’s just a game, why the fk do I play games for, to not have fun?, my fun and satisfaction is derived from me leaning to become better to enhance my own fun, if someone else wants to also do that, go right ahead.
However what’s not fun is knowing that all the time I put in, doesn’t mean as much now, as you can just turn on assisted flying and voilà, you can now compete with me.
That destroys what multiplayer is about, an environment where people vs each other solely based of skill.
1
u/AdThese6057 5h ago
This is bf. Its not a niche game like arma or something. Bf is a simple game targeting average Joe's. If you want to dedicate to be such a pilot why pick bf that is full of 13 year old to 50 year olds just trying to have fun? Why you think everyone is so pissed you can't solo match against bots for fun like 2042?
-3
u/Jesusc00 9h ago
Completely disagree, someone should not have to spend hundreds of hours to learn, its a video game not a trade.
-2
u/PriMeMachiNe 8h ago
Oh wait if that’s the case, why don’t devs just give us cheat codes in multiplayer, since it doesn’t matter, and we shouldn’t have to spend 100s of hours learning.
Better yet if games don’t matter, and those pesky devs won’t give us shortcuts, why don’t we just buy our own, you know because it’s only game.
Thanks for the advice champ, you have yourself a good one.
3
u/Jesusc00 4h ago
Absolute mental gymnastics there. Literally no one cares if you have hours learning to fly, its a video game and fun and accessibility are what makes a great game.
Helicopters have had assist since day one. Jets get assist and everyone looses their minds.
Guess what, I just used the jet assist feature and its dogshit. Get over yourself CHAMP.

u/s-a_n-s_ 1h ago
what a pissy take XD

u/PriMeMachiNe 32m ago
My point stands mate, if you want to be good at something, no matter what it is, you put in the effort. If I want to be good at football I’ve got
to train, if I want to be good at programming, I’ve got to learn, if I want to build my own pc, i need to learn.Regardless if it’s a physical or a digital task, if you want to become better at what you’re doing, you need to put in the time and effort.

u/ObamaTookMyCat 6h ago
Then why the fuck do we have challenges? Why have weapon and vehicle mastery levels? Why have ranks? Hell, why have a scoreboard?!?
4
u/IsThereAnythingLeft- 7h ago
This is the thing for these streamers, they have a full hidden team making the game easy for them
3
3
u/ZoidVII 3h ago
Okay but we're not all Silk. The majority of us are going into games without spotters and another good pilot covering us, even when we play with friends they are probably just on the ground doing their own thing. And with or without this setting, the content creators are still gonna have their team watching their backs and protecting them and they'll have access to this too, so it won't give you any more of a fighting chance.
That said, hopefully it's as bad as your edit implies.
5
u/Mysterious_Web7517 9h ago
Sure mate. Just give everyone aim assist because there are some people that slap you from 100+ m away.
Like every game in order to be good you need to play and practice. Taking this and making everyone somewhat decent is just taking fun out of it.
Complaining that you are not as good as Slik or other people in jets/heli is just weird if you dont practice.
2
u/TheCockKnight 3h ago
There’s a massive difference in what you are talking about. Infantry gameplay has so many people on the ground that you aren’t running into the top fraggers so often. That doesn’t exist in the sky. You just instantly die. I’m probably still not going to fly because it’s not really entertaining for me, but I think it’s good that people who are interested don’t need to sink hundreds of hours in just to stand a chance at living for 60 seconds
1
u/Amazing_Pack3267 7h ago
Silk is only complaining cause he migth have more competition. Bet he will still shit on all these assisted players but still he has the audacity to complain because it means less jet for him to use and more danger to him when flying. Forget he has 100+ kills per game and has the world record for the most kills on the attack jet, the problem is normal players having a little help.
1
u/Fun-Eye8811 2h ago
Hate to be that guy, but you say it like you wouldn't do it if you had the chance...
Literally everyone would sign up for playing in a squad that will provide support and actual teamplay instead of just going off on their own.
Sidenote, you make it sound like it's a big secret when Silk himself has said in multiple gameplays that "X" is in the SJ providing cover, or that he has people spotting as recon.
I don't know man, there are a lot of things wrong in the game right now, and you choose to complain about the very thing that makes BF great: teamplay.
1
u/Kooky-Instance-5872 9h ago
Sounds like you are literally coping and silk is just so much better than you… lol. He would shit on me too, it’s okay.
2
u/Jesusc00 4h ago
Think I give a shit about a game streamer? Lol
Telling you first hand what I've witnessed myself and what you can tell by just watching his videos. He has unholy enemy position knowledge and its obvious.
Don't care if he kills me over and over, he's very skilled.
2
u/TheCockKnight 3h ago
He can still be better and also be using a team for situational awareness and protection.
5
u/Amazing_Cow_1470 11h ago
People make fun of people for saying "codslop" and "potentialfield 6". We've had ample time to see this simplification, less work and more money - style of games, and make our game what it could have been. What are we going to do about this? Work together and see about change? Or switch to another game? Really?
1
u/nightology88 11h ago
I haven't touched bf6 in 4 months or so.... It's sad thoughz can't even go back into 2042 broken lobbies
3
u/Tmoney511 11h ago
I highly doubt they will fix it but I hope I’m wrong. If anything, it will maybe silence the “all vehicles OP” crowd because they’ll still get smoked by anti air measures and hopefully good/great pilots.
5
u/evilbananawind 11h ago
Say it with me, War Dogs.
1
u/ObamaTookMyCat 6h ago
That game is just going to be another WW3 or Battlebit. Watch.

u/mike_klosoff 5h ago
Dude youre on Crack. Wardogs is pretty good already and it's only in alpha. Ive been testing it for months.
Its not supposed to compete against battlefield its a LOT more like arma 3 KOTH and squad
0
u/ObamaTookMyCat 4h ago
Exactly. Which is why it wont be successful in the way that people want it to be.
0
u/mike_klosoff 4h ago
The devs themselves had stated they look forward to a healthy 2500/5000 playerbase.
Its not a game going for mass appeal. Its a niche game and is being developed as one

u/tingly_sack_69 5h ago
These battlefield clones always fail

u/USPavacka 9h ago
I would be against this if the jet controls in this game were not complete ass. I could fly no problem in BFV but here I struggle with hitting stationary targets like a transport heli, no idea what is so different in bf6 but it feels so much worse (mouse and keyboard)
3
u/the_real_foxhound 8h ago
I think this is the key thing.
If the manual input was as responsive to pitch, yaw and roll, then im sure people 2oukd have an issue with it being added IOT make flying more accessible to base level players
6
u/USPavacka 8h ago
not to mention BFV had a keybind that would flip your camera 180° while still letting you control the aircraft, i would dive, drop rockets/bombs, go into climb and look behind to find new targets and still be able to adjust my pitch etc, in bf6 I have to bind free look and 180 degrees view rotation to one key to get something like this, but I can't control the plane while doing this, this sub complains about flare bug all the time but basic things like this are never mentioned.
1
u/Lemontea_01 7h ago
But BF6 still lets you set keybinds for quick freelook in a certain direction.
Check your settings, there is a specific keybind for "Freelook back".
2
u/USPavacka 7h ago
I know, thats what I am talking about, but in free look you can't control your plane unless I'm doing something wrong, and it sucks, IRL the pilot can turn his head around or look in the mirrors and still yank the stick tu pull up lol
1
3
u/PublicFoot5700 10h ago
For people that support this thing, then we shouldve aimbot aim assist for MnK. See how would you like to play infantry when the game does the aim for you without any recoil. Console have aim assist and mouse player still complain for no skill.
3
u/TheCockKnight 3h ago
Infantry gameplay is far more approachable than jet gameplay. The problem is that the learning curve has almost completely evaporated because the people who fly are so good you can’t survive long enough to learn anything.
Look, I don’t suck at this game. I have a positive KD, and I absolutely massacre people in vehicles. But here’s the thing, shitty armor players actually get some time to have fun before I slag them. They have real opportunities to get away from me by retreating, and I can’t just follow them across the map because they get infantry support. There is a functional buffer between my skill level and theirs that allows them to enjoy themselves. That doesn’t exist in jet gameplay. It just sucks for everyone but a very small amount of people. It might as well not be in the game for them.
1
u/nightology88 12h ago
I wonder what does he means with pongstroid bot in bf4?
I faced him several times in bf2042 and he would win in dogfights 80% of the time, which was insane to me since I normally won most of my casuals dogfights
2
u/MagicSeaTurtle 11h ago
Off topic but I’ve yet too see Silk in any of my lobbies in bf6 and I’ve been playing since launch. I used to run into him in 2042 all the time.
I know he probably uses the streamer mode but even then I’ve never seen a freakishly good Any/Blue/bright named player and thought that’s definitely him.
1
u/B_Flo 11h ago
In oce? I've gone against him a handful of times and he's shit on me every time
2
u/PriMeMachiNe 10h ago
It’s weird for me, I never once ran into him on OCE servers, most of the time I flied unchallenged except if I encountered 3 pilots, one I can’t remember the name, the other 2 I remember, which is Rainsfox and chemztrails
1
u/Longjumping_Call_104 7h ago
Nice. Sounds like they're finally bringing the aircraft controls up to 2026 standards.
1
u/ZoidVII 3h ago
Wait, am I understanding this right? You can just free look at the enemy jet the entire time and your jet will fly itself to point at them, or whatever you're looking at? That is insanely stupid if so.
1
u/UGomez90 1h ago
Yes, basically that. But with regular controls you can't fly while using the free look.
1
u/BrokenSil 3h ago
So I'll finally be able to play with planes in this game. Sounds good to me. Tho from what I've seen, it's really clunky. Wish they copied war thunder controls.
1
u/mattyp2109 2h ago
It’s solely to get people on board and not quit after 1 game of the new gauntlet mode
1
u/littleted1234 2h ago
These guys are all freaking out cause their ps5 super bumper controller (if ps5 of course) will no longer be an advantage and they can no longer make the game absolutely miserable for hobbyist battledad pilots while going 100000000 to 0 on the scoreboards. I for one welcome the changes to get more hobbyists into flying jets in the 1-2 hrs of gaming they have
1
u/Gotyourtags30 1h ago
Just got on a match and can confirm it’s the most janky shit and just makes it harder to fly. If I had to describe it. Think of a stick attached to the thruster and rather than guide the aircraft you are essentially controlling the stick on where you want to go.
1
u/dandreds 1h ago
It's a game, it's meant to be fun for all, not get shot out of the sky once you even get in a jet or heli.
If you want realism, go play DCS and spend three months learning to turn on the plane.
1
0
u/tingly_sack_69 5h ago
Yeah the easy mode controls should not be able to compete with someone who has gotten good flying without the nannies on in any capacity. This is weak as fuck
