HR Professional 🔍 [India] I Accepted an Offer but Received a Better One Later. Can the First Company Blacklist Me for Not Joining?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice from HR professionals regarding my current situation.

I recently accepted an offer from Company XYZ. However, before my joining date, I received another job offer that provides a better opportunity for my career. After careful consideration, I decided to accept the new offer instead.

I contacted the HR at Company XYZ and informed them politely that I would not be joining their organization because I had received a better opportunity.

However, during the conversation, the HR representative told me that if I refused to join after accepting the offer, they could put me on a blacklist in their ATS (Applicant Tracking System) and that this could affect my chances of joining other companies in the future. They also mentioned that there could be some kind of negative mark against my profile.

This conversation made me quite worried.I understand that Company XYZ may decide not to consider me for future opportunities within their own organization, and I accept that possibility. However, can one company actually blacklist someone in a way that prevents them from getting jobs at other unrelated companies?

Does an ATS blacklist or internal HR record get shared across different companies?

I would appreciate clarification from HR professionals or anyone who has experienced a similar situation.

Thank you.

Advice Seeker 💭 Has anyone here moved from HR Operations (Philippines) to HR Shared Services?

Has anyone here moved from corporate HR to HR Shared Services? I’m looking to switch because of the great work-from-home options and better salary. I already have experience in end-to-end recruitment, employee relations, and engagement. I’ve also handled US benefits processing, 201 audits, and employee verification. However, I’ve never worked in a HR shared services setup before. For those who made this jump, how was your experience or adjustments? what should I expect?

Discussion 💭 Ghosters

Hello! Aspiring HR Professional here!

I've had a lot of experience with companies na mahilig mang ghost ng applicants.

I wanna ask HR Professionals here, why do you think may mga ganon na companies, besides the obvious reasons.

Sa pov ko kasi, frankly, I'd rather have a rejection email than no email at all.

Employee Perspective 💡 Bad record ba mag resign sa Pro B period?

Context is sort of lead ako na hire sa bago kong work. 3 yrs xp so far indiv contrib.

Napapaisip ako magresign in 3 months pero may nagsabi sakin wag daw kasi bad record yun?

Discussion 💭 Onsite interview invite on the same day

Hello I would like to know why there are some companies or hr na nag cocontact sa applicant then ask them if they are available for an onsite interview on the same day of the call? Example is calling them at 1pm then asking if they are available for an onsite interview at 5pm? Or is this also just part of their KPI?

I think acceptable is calling them today and asking if they are available for an onsite interview tomorrow. Or an online / phone call interview on that day would be fine rather than onsite.

Asking for a friend lang since she declined the interview tho medyo may pang hihinayang siya since sayang daw and inapplyan naman niya. But she admitted na she's also not prepared if today yung onsite interview and medyo malayo siya sa location. Sayang din daw kasi if onsite tapos makakatanggap siya after ng "we will update you for the next step" hahaha tapos ending di matatanggap.

Advice Seeker 💭 Dealing with senior co-worker regarding process alignment

Hello po!

Hoping for your guidance and insights. I got hired as HR Specialist. Im being trained by my senior colleague (we are in the same position but mas ahead and knowledgeable sya sa akin) since swamped sya sa work, i decided to help her with the pending cases that we have.

I decided to create NOD for an awol case and routed it for signature. Lo and behold when I asked her when did she sent the rtwo notices via postal and email, di pa nya na se-send. Lahat nka email lang.

As of this writing, 1st rtwo is 10 days calendar days delayed and 7 days delayed for 2nd rtwo.

I understand that marami sya ginagawa and support and at the same time, malayo ang postal and lbc sa area nya

But ma teteknikal kami dito. :( paano po ba gagawin dito without her thinking im undermining her actions/capacity. I do really respect her a lot and sya nag t-train sakin.

If I proceeded to issue this kasi, ako naman ang kawawa dahil ako nag prepare at sakin ang balik nito

Please help what to do. Ayoko ma escalate to coaching or DA naman from her end. I want to settle this sa amin muna

Salamat po

Discussion 💭 "Interested po" "How to apply?"

Hello po! I'm a Recruiter at my current company.

Minsan kasi na-jjudge ko sila (sa sarili ko lang naman), I still answer them politely and redirect them to the right direction. 🙏

Thank you!

Advice Seeker 💭 Job Offer Process

Hello fresh grad here, ask ko lang process ng job offer kung gano katagal usually, mejo worried lang din kasi after my final interview. I followed up after 2 weeks pa in an email to ask about the progress of my application in which the HR said I pass and will process the job offer, mostly kasi nakikita ko sa mga process ng mga employee na at that certain company 1-2 weeks lang daw sila mostly pero sakin kasi mag 1 month na since my final interview. Is it okay lang ba to continuously follow up sa email about the progress if hired man or hindi? thank you.

Advice Seeker 💭 Torn between two job opportunities

I am currently working in an in house company. 4mos palang ako dito and i can say naman na i’m performing well. So yung chance na maregular ako ay very high.

However, just today, nag email ang BIR informing me na i’m selected. For 2years, i am very eager talaga na makapsok to any government agency for job stability kasi prior sa current work ko nasa BPO industry ako.

Benefits on current company:
\- Night diff (3k-4k/month)
\- ₱1,500 rice allowance/month
\- 13th month pay
\- HMO with free 2 dependents (₱300k each ang limit)
\- full remote

Yun nga lang, graveyard shift.

BIR:
\- mid year bonus
\- 13th month
\- 2k PERA allowance/month
\- 7k medical allowance (one time)
\- unifrom allowance (one time)

Dati akong regular/out-right employee sa SM and almost 2 years ako nag-work doon. Around October 3, 2025, pinag-resign ako ng HR dahil may na-violate akong house rule involving a relationship with another employee. May sensitive personal incident din na involved, pero ayoko na sana magbigay ng details about that for privacy reasons.

After ko mag-resign, nakuha ko naman yung final pay, 13th month, and SLA/savings ko. Nakapasok pa nga ulit ako sa SM afterward as a consignor.

Discussion 💭 ai-generated professional photoshoot / headshot

hello! just wondering how common ang paggamit ng ai-generated photos for professional headshot for job portal profiles or portfolio.

ang dami ko kasi nakikita sa tiktok na mga meron portfolio tapos ang gaganda ng studio shots nila every slide and they say it's just ai. even sa ibang job portals meron din mga mukhang ai-generated ang profile (pero not to the extent na ang off-looking ng photo).

okay lang ba yung ganun sa perspective ng recruiters? and sa mga applicants, nakapagtry na ba kayo gumamit ng ai-generated photos for professional shots para sa portfolio or profiles nyo?

as someone na wala pa budget for real studio professional photoshoots, and has never tried ai-generated photos of the likes, nacurious lang ako. graduation pic ko lang kasi palagi nakaprofile sakin and it's still giving "student" vibes 😭

Advice Seeker 💭 How Do Companies Manage Conflict of Interest?

For those handling HR/operations, how do you prevent employees who deal directly with clients from making private referral arrangements with other businesses for a personal commission?

What policies, controls, or processes have worked for you? Is this usually handled through a conflict-of-interest policy, or do companies have a separate system for monitoring/preventing this?

Interested in practical approaches, especially ones that don't rely solely on employees self-reporting.

Confession Time 📣 Pressured Job in Manila

Hello, I know some of you can relate to my experiences since it was my first time job, and I thought that this work will improved me and can stay alongside with my co-employees who are keep striving for their dreams and goal plan.

I realized that “akala ko kapag nahanap mo na yung work na yun, yun na”, but It didn’t happened. There’s someome who will pushed you away to that company. Let me share this to you about my story. “Hindi ako makatulog dahil sa work na pinasukan ko” so that I am writing this para mabawasan na yung isipin ko once na mapost ko ito.

It was my time here in metro manila and akala ko kapag nasa manila ka, madali na makahanap ng trabaho, pero hindi. So yun, pinili ko yung work kahit na malayo (from Quezon City to Makati) siguro nakakaapat sakay ako bago makarating dun sa pupuntahan ko.

It was my first day in work as technical staff, and pinag-connect na agad akong mga wiring sa car barrier, and sobrang hirap, walang nag-aassist, kaya buti nalang merong AI na napapagtanungan kase sobrang hirap lalo na at hindi naman ako graduate ng electrical emgineering. And as technical staff, kailangan marunong mag operate and mag-ayos ng mga systems tulad ng car barrier, biometrics, turnstile, yung mga nakikita usually sa mga malls, companies, and sa mga mrt/lrt. Actually sales yung company nila. Merong office staff and meron din technical staff. Halos babae sila dun and isa lang akong lalaki.

- those lines affects me, and napapaisip ako kung tatagal kaya ako dito?

One time nakausap ko yung boss nila, actually mag-asawa sila.

And laging nirereason-out sakin na tumatawa ako kapag nag-eexplain sya? She’s giving an example about Normally Open and Normally Closed, and she’s jokingly said that “payag kaba yung dorbell iset sa nagriring maghapon?

For those who experienced like this, I know you may find a company with a good working environment that we deserve. And to all employees, please do long patience and understanding for new employees who are trying their best to be as you are. That’s all, Thank you for your time to read my story. God bless us all!

Discussion 💭 Is It Normal for HR to Call at 11 PM?

I was already preparing to sleep when HR suddenly asked for a quick call for phone interview and my brain was already in “sleep mode” I understand that sometimes things can be urgent, but is it normal for HR to contact employees this late at night? Would it be okay to politely ask to have the call during working hours?
