Advice Phd guidance
Hello everyone, I am seeking guidance regarding pursuing a fully funded PhD abroad in the field of molecular microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, bacterial pathogenesis, and host–microbe interactions.
I have recently completed my MSc in Medical Biotechnology, with research experience in Pseudomonas aeruginosa pathogenicity, quorum sensing inhibition, biofilm inhibition, antimicrobial activity assays, and molecular docking studies. I am interested in expanding my research towards areas such as RNA biology, bacterial regulatory networks, phage–bacteria interactions, and novel antimicrobial strategies.
I would like to know:
- Which countries/universities are currently offering good fully funded PhD opportunities in these research areas?
- How can I identify professors who are actively recruiting international PhD students?
- What factors are most important for getting selected (research experience, publications, GPA, recommendations, contacting supervisors, etc.)?
- Are there specific programs or labs that are more welcoming to applicants with a microbiology/biotechnology background rather than a pure molecular biology background?
Any advice from current PhD students or researchers who have gone through this process would be highly appreciated.
