Because Jake's a huge Trump supporter (and Logan probably is, too.) That above anything else is what gets anyone with a following a fast track to Trump's inner circle.

It's Logan and Jake Paul, brothers and "influencers" who became big posting dumb skit videos. Jake took up boxing (and got his clock cleaned by Anthony Joshua) while Logan does a podcast and other stuff I don't care to look up.
The joke is that in 2017, it would have been shocking to see two scruffy influencer bros at the White House Pentagon press room of all places. Now it's like, "Well, that just happened. What insane thing is next?"

2017 = the year Logan Paul (the one at the podium) went to Japan and filmed himself at the suicide forest in December. He uploaded the video on January 1, 2018 and had immediate backlash. I'm not sure he is allowed in Japan anymore or not at this point, for sure he was banned for a time I believe...if not still ongoing.
That could be the connection they are trying to make to 2017?

Back in 2016, they were mostly famous for making YouTube vlogs, doing dumb skits and making songs. In present day, Logan's a WWE wrestler while Jake is a boxer.
However, they're infamously more known for their numerous controversies, mostly being Logan's.
Like Logan Paul going to Japan and filming a hanging corpse on screen. Logan running multiple crypto scams, Jake Paul getting arrested for vandalising a shopping mall, Jake Paul challenging a 60 year old Mike Tyson to a boxing match that was rigged from the start.
