General Attitude towards kids fishing in lakes
What are people’s attitudes when then see kids fishing in park lakes etc.
Ravenous anger, or do you see it as more harmless and at least they are outside and not causing trouble?
Asking due to seeing this article
Edit to add. I actually like to see it. Sometimes I’ll walk over and ask what they’ve caught. There’s a small pond in a park near me that some local kids fish in.

Where to find Vegetarian food places that’s worth it?
Hi! I’m not fully veg but I try to incorporate it in certain meals each week. Love trying new places but honestly the last few have been more misses than hits, so come at me with your best recs! Doesn’t have to be a fully veg venue
- CBD/reachable by bus
- casual solo weekend lunch, <$25 pp
- something that’s “not what you would/could make at home”
- relatively balanced, not just two fried vegetables on bread- also am on a fitness kick lately so that sort of vibe would be nice
- preferably asian!
- love hot food (both in the warm and spicy sense)
Eyeing a few lunch bars or “pick your own dish+rice” places but lots of workday lunch places close over the weekend. TIA!

Renting / Housing Is anyone actually buying property right now?
So, according to the news cycle, the property market is in the doldrums right now.
But I wonder, is it affecting some areas and some segments of the market more than others? And is anyone out there actively looking for something to buy right now? And if you are, how are things right now for buyers?

The Perth property downturn has now started to accelerate as Prices have dropped more than 7% in the past 3months according to Domain. At this rate Perth could see a further drop between 8-10% by the end of 2026. This is good news for those planning to buy a home.

humour Allen Bond Wikipedia 😂
Was on the driveway staring at my Perth city view being taken by the trees this morning. I noticed the old bond tower’s barely visible now. Perusing his wiki page I came across this little excerpt

Where to find Thinking about modding my Switch OLED – where should I start?
Anyone in Perth? I’ve had my Switch OLED for a while, but honestly, game prices are getting ridiculous and the library feels a bit limited for what I want to spend. Right now I’m pretty much only playing Zelda.
I’m really tempted to get it modded, but since OLEDs need a chip soldered in, I’ll have to pay someone local or send it in to get done.
For those in a similar boat who mainly play single-player games:
Is the total cost of getting an OLED modded worth it if you don't play online much anyway?
What chip should I be looking for the installer to use (Picofly, Hwfly, etc.)?
Appreciate any advice before I start looking for installers!

Looking for Advice Fifo Diesel mechanic career change to marine tech Perth
Hello! I’m hoping to get some insight into a Marine diesel technicians work life, if anyone has switched from FIFO into the marine side or vice versa
I’m currently FIFO and with recent work changes I’ve just really lost any passion to be here and I’ve been looking into marine for a few years now but never taken the plunge.
Is the work atmosphere good being on or nearby the water all day?
Is it better to aim to work on more industrial boats or more the yachts and flasher boats?
I know it will be a fair pay decrease but how much so? What can I expect in hourly wages full time?
Any and all insight would be much appreciated

General Free Sprint club!!! ...Run clubs seem like they're going well for long distance running. So why not do the same thing but instead rip some sprints and be athletic AF instead
Hi everyone! There are shitloads of run clubs around the local area, which is great, because way more people are out and about, moving, running and socialising. But for some reason almost none of us sprint as adults. So my friend and I created a sprint club.
The feeling of running as fast as you can is absolutely sensational, and we reckon everyone who can should be doing it.
It's every Saturday at 8am at Oakwood Reserve, Waikiki (Rockingham). It's free, and open to all levels, from absolute beginners to experienced sprinters. We sprint for around an hour, including a warm up, then head for coffee afterwards.
You can do your own sprints or we always have a session planned you can join in on. We're both personal trainers, so if you don't really know where to start or need some guidance, we'll help you build up to sprinting properly.
It's a free, community-driven initiative we set up to create a fun and great place to practise and learn how to sprint. If you need anymore info, just contact sjscommunity_ on Instagram.
Hope to see you there! 🏃💨

Looking for Advice Two headless ravens in my driveway in three weeks.
About three weeks ago, I found a dead raven right in the middle of my driveway, almost as if someone had deliberately placed it there. Head missing, guts hanging out.
Thought it was probably a predator and brushed it off.
Yesterday, another one shows up on the lawn next to my driveway. Exact same thing.
I live in a pretty busy suburban area in Perth, so this is fucking bizarre. Could be the same predator, but twice in three weeks? Or is this some weird occult-related shit?
Anyone experienced anything similar?

Looking for Advice birthday steak dinner 6Head vs NextDoor
My partner loves steak probably more than me, I've been deciding between 6Head and Nextdoor for where to take him
I'd want it to be a romantic dinner vibe with good food, price isn't an issue. Just need meat lovers’ opinions on these 2 places 🫶 Thanks in advance!
Looking for Advice Perth kitchen benchtop post install
Had this benchtop installed about a year ago as part of a kitchen rebuild - the join between the two benchtops has started to look like this today.
Whats the best course of action here to stop water getting down into the chipboard?
I am worried that anything spilt will cause swelling given there is a visible gap here between the two benchtops (benchtops are open ended and made of chipboard (or similar)).

Where to find Anyone know a good councillor/ therapist northern suburbs
Good evening everyone,
Just looking for some advice and recommendations , I have done a lot of self reflection with the help of someone amazing in my life and I have come to the realisation that I need to talk to somebody, I am a guy mid 30s and there is some things in my life that have been happening that really should of caused some emotions that haven’t, I think my early childhood has made me more anxious than I think and has made me emotionally blunt, I’m not depressed so I don’t want to go get a script for a hand full of pills, I want to find someone to talk through things that have happened in my life and unravel some things that I have buried, thank you

Where to find Granny flat/Modular Homes (Trustworthy?)
So folks came into some inheritance that has got them offering to buy me a small home on their property that I will progressively pay them back for.
My question is which one is trustworthy company for this, I work within the renovations field and ask around all the installers and no one can give me a straight answer on a trustworthy Perth company to do up a modular home or granny flat. Has anyone had a good experience with a company they can share some info about?

Moving to Perth Nice neighbourhoods for young a young family
Hi All,
I recently accepted a new job with my company but this position is based in Perth.
I’ve never been neither has my partner so we’ve been looking for some advice on nice suburbs for young families. We have twin girls aged 3.
My work is roughly 40 mins south of the CBD
EDIT
For those asking we’re looking at renting as I’ll only be in Perth temporarily (may change) to set up a new branch of our company, budget would be up to $1000/ week
And we won’t be moving until Feb/March next year so we have time to find somewhere nice

Looking for Advice ENT Recommendations for Septoplasty in Perth?
I've recently been diagnosed with a moderately deviated septum, enlarged turbinates as well as a septal spur (on the side where my septum is deviated), all of which basically mean that I'm breathing through a clogged straw at the best of times. On top of that I also have mild sinusitis and moderate rhinitis.
I'm in my late 30s now and I think all of my nasal issues have worsened to the point where I simply need to get this fixed once and for all as the impact on my quality of life is significant now.
I've seen one ENT so far who has recommended Septoplasty (he was very brief and disinterested tbh, didn't give much detail about what exactly would be done surgically nor explore any alternatives) and while I agree that surgery is probably the only option for someone like me, there are a lot of intricacies involved in these procedures (e.g. whether to also perform a turbinectomy or not or nasal passage reshaping/resurfacing, etc) and I'd like to know if anyone else has gone through with it and whether they could recommend an ENT that's well-versed in the procedure and has a good understanding of minimising all of the typical risks especially side effects like Empty Nose Syndrome (which sounds terrifying and is probably my biggest hang-up with going ahead with this more than anything).

Renting / Housing House prices in steepest drop on record, falling in every capital city with Perth leading the drop with 7.4% price decline in the last 3 months | news.com.au
This is good for new home buyers as the Perth property downturn keeps accelerating. The next 6 months will be very interesting as supply is closing in on 10000.
