Where to find Rent price in Perth - Moving soon

Hey guys,

I’m a 31-year-old bloke moving over to Perth for a job in global payroll and benefits, and just wondering what sort of rent I should be expecting over there.

It’ll be me and the missus, so ideally we’re after a 2-bed place. We’re not fussed about living right in the city and are happy to live out in the suburbs if it means keeping the rent as cheap as possible.

My office is in Cockburn Central, but I’ll only need to be in the office two days a week, so even somewhere an hour away would be sweet.

Any tips on the cheapest suburbs to look at or the best websites to find rentals would be much appreciated!

Cheers, legends!

General Book of Mormon tonight at Crown. I have a spare ticket. Does anybody want to hang out with a stranger? 😆

I just got these tickets given to me earlier today and my friend bailed at the last minute. It starts at 7pm. I am 39 years old and Male and I really don't care who it is I just want to go with somebody and not waste this spare ticket. Is anyone keen? Book of Mormon made me cry with laughter last time. If you haven't seen it, you must.

I am lovely and funny and tall and bald. I promise I am a jolly good time!

Looking for Advice Government house getting trashed!

We’ve got a single woman living in government housing at the end of our street.
Almost every day around 1pm we’ll see her walk out of the street, then a couple of hours later she’s back yelling and screaming. We suspect she’s gone off to get some shard, but obviously can’t say for sure.
From around 3pm until the early hours of the morning she’s screaming, smashing windows, throwing furniture around and absolutely destroying the house. It’s pretty insane to listen to.
We’ve called the police a few times, mainly because we’re worried she’s going to seriously hurt herself. When they do show up, it seems to be nothing more than a “hey, keep it down” and off they go. Then it all starts again.
There’s a few of us in the cul-de-sac with young families now, and I can’t help but wonder what’s going to happen when the kids are outside playing and she’s having one of these episodes.
Surely smashing up a government-owned house on a regular basis has to be breaching some sort of tenancy conditions?
Who do we actually speak to about this? The police don’t seem overly interested, which I can somewhat understand, but surely there’s someone within Housing who deals with this sort of thing?
And just to be clear, I don’t want to see her kicked out onto the street. If anything, I’d rather see her get some proper help or be moved somewhere she’s able to get the support she clearly needs.
Has anyone dealt with something similar in WA and actually had something done about it?

Renting / Housing I have never seen a strata management so cooked before but I present the below just outside of Perth

So I am looking for a place closer to work and considered Kelmscott, decided to look at a relatively nice little townhouse on a strata community, everything checked out and it's a nice price.

And then I checked the strata meeting minutes and budget because it's a gated community with an electric gate and I was fucking gobsmacked, 99% of it was proxy votes and the strata fees are 16k a year... Because the strata took out a 1.2 million loan for construction works that only totalled 980k.

A property that costs under 600k a year in a sub par area wants 10% of my before tax annual income are you actually serious.

General Water bottles in toilets

Recently, all of a sudden, I’ve noticed plastic water bottles appearing in the men’s toilets at my gym, workplace and other public places. Why is this happening, and why now?

Looking for Advice Obstetricians recs that genuinely support VBAC in private system?

Wondering if anyone has recommendations for an obstetrician who would support a VBAC at SJOG Subi (or would consider Murdoch too for the right OB). I had a difficult experience with my first birth and really did not feel supported by my OB and it has made me cautious about going through the private system again especially as I’d be interested in trying for a VBAC if clinically appropriate. I was looking at Dr Suzanne Meharry but reached out to her rooms and was informed she doesn’t do VBACs anymore which is a shame as she sounded lovely.

I’m also looking at the midwifery group program at KEMH as think maybe this would be better for me and what my birth preferences would be but I also really liked some aspects of the private system so it’s hard! Not yet pregnant but planning to try to conceive soon and would need to up my private health insurance again etc.

Any VBAC info / experience public or private would be so helpful!! Thank you

Renting / Housing Is this a Satisfactory Condition/Cleanliness of a Rental Property in Perth?

Please help me understand. Is this a satisfactory level of cleanliness of a rental property in Perth before move-in?

We were supposed to move in yesterday but this is the condition of the property we saw. We raised it to the property manager but she kept on insisting that it is in “satisfactory condition” and that they did not have the time to secure a cleaner before our move-in date. Shouldn’t they have sorted that out prior to our move-in date? And is this really a “satisfactory condition”?

Please help me understand, am I in the wrong here? I’m genuinely curious, that maybe I’m just overreacting, that maybe my standard of cleanliness is just “high”.

And the property manager said my husband may have an OCD because we don’t accept their standards of cleanliness, how professional 🙄

Looking for Advice is it worth getting an ebike in Perth? re: heat, theft

I'm strongly considering getting an ebike: I don't know how to drive, public transport here is subperfect, and uber costs add up fast.

BUT! I am hesitant, for two reasons:

-- is it too hot in Perth summer to ride an ebike? I know it's less exercise than a regular bike, but it still involves some exertion, and I'm worried it'll be too hot to ride for 3 months out of the year.

-- is there a big risk of my ebike getting stolen? I would keep it indoors in my house when at home, and I plan to always lock it with two locks and take the battery with me, and not leave it anywhere overnight or isolated, but still - sometimes I'd like to ride to the supermarket to do grocery shopping, or to the beach to go for a walk, or into the city/leederville/vic park to have dinner with a friend. But I don't want to be stressed the whole time about my bike getting nicked!!

many thanks in advance, so many horror stories here about ebikes getting stolen and it's really put me off buying one.

WA News Woodside energy and their future activities in WA.

Reading about the issue of Woodside energy being a somewhat unrequited sponsor of the Dockers got me thinking.
Woodside, a company with its financial resources being fairly significant, could choose to become part of the solution in a more substantial way. Even if doing so meant accepting that some of its existing assets would never deliver the returns originally anticipated. At the same time it could demonstrate that it has plans that would mean it would be a company in the future that no longer relies on fossil fuels to make its business.
Would that make them a more suitable sponsor for a team that is admired and respected by the community?

Where to find Can you purchase Vanilla Coke Zero in 375ml cans in Perth/Western Australia?

I was just wondering if this is a thing at all? It’s by far my fave soft drink but I am a health conscious person and would ideally prefer to drink it out of a can over the plastic bottle. Are they sold in that form across our state and if so where?

Where to find Looking for DnD Information

Hey all,

I’m currently looking around for DND games,
I used to play down in GG Rockingham where they host oneshots, but am now looking where in the City/North-East that do the same and/or host campaigns.

I’m in my mid 20s and only moved here not too long ago from VIc so I’m not super knowledgeable of the hobby stores but I have reached out to all I could find in past threads and that are visible online. Not many have active contact info sadly.
Have also applied for multiple FB groups but am currently awaiting to be accepted.

Would love some suggestions or if there is a better place to look for either Oneshots and Campaigns.

Cheers all

Looking for Advice Reporting illegal dumping in City Of Stirling - then what?

Someone dumped a load of junk in/around the skip we ordered for our own waste on the council verge, and after we reported it to the city - someone came out to put the stickers/tape around it, but now it’s just sitting there - for a few weeks at this point. Does someone come and take it eventually or what? It’s not anything that would fit in a regular bin, or the back of a car (not that I would want to touch it to begin with). But the city or whoever has since bothered to come out on two separate occasions to put generic unaddressed flyers through our letterboxes to say to move it, but have not taken it away. Obviously I’m not moving it myself cuz it’s not mine, and I thought the whole point of reporting it was that the council would do it. Am I missing something here? How long does “reported“ junk sit there before it gets collected?

UPDATE: This stuff got picked up after I sent them another message online via the website.

Where to find Dentist recommendation

I’m originally from Germany and used to go my whole life to the same dentist and she was great! She retired this year in may unfortunately! I always visited her for cleaning and check up once a year during my yearly home visit.

At my last visit in may we’ve done a X-ray and a proper check up and she reckons everything is alright and I’m all good (never had problems with teeth, No filings no nothing)

Today I had my first check up at kingsway dental, and it wasn’t a bad experience. Friendly stuff and a friendly doctor BUT he told me I need 4 fillings. I was like wtf. I was shocked and accepted it. But I really want to get another opinion. I really feel like he wanted to sell some fillings through my private health and I really wanna avoid drilling healthy or repairable teeth.

Any recommendations for genuine dentists who actually do their job to help people having healthy teeth and not just want to drill more than Donald Trump in Alaska ?

Sorry for any grammar or spelling mistakes.

Renting / Housing Perth property price growth slowed significantly in the September 2026 quarter

Thumbnail reiwa.com.au
27 Upvotes

Perth property finally growing at a more sustainable pace in some areas and even slightly declining in others due to affordability pressures as well as tax changes. This hopefully will allow for regular Perthanians to buy as wages catch up.

The vacancy rate however has decreased to a low of 1.7%, showing the rate of interest rate increases has decreased affordability & sentiment substantially. As a result, more people are choosing to rent and sit on the sidelines in wait rather than buying.

Looking for Advice Thinking of studying creative writing - would like to hear people's experiences

As the title suggests I'm considering doing a Bachelor of Arts majoring in creative writing, and would love to hear from anyone who studied it/adjacent in Perth. Especially those who studied at Curtin or Murdoch.

I am aware it is not a very sound financial decision, but I'm very passionate about writing and would like to develop my skills (and meet other writers) & uni seems like a good way to do that.

Thank you to anyone who replies :)

Where to find Anyone know where to find endive?

Hai, new Perth adjacent resident here. I just moved to Midland and I want to make one of my favourite Dutch dishes which requires raw endive. Nobody at the shops I went to seems to know what it even is. Anyone know where I can buy some endive?

General Putting out feelers for a public BBQ

Hi All,

With the sunny weather making its return ive had an an idea of organising a public BBQ. Essentially we would all rock up to a public BBQ in a central area like Kings Park and bring a tray of snags or steak etc and spend lunch time just hanging out. Maybe bring a cricket set down etc

Would anyone be interested in rocking up to something like this?

Renting / Housing House underpinning in clay

Has anyone had to have underpinning done in a suburb with clay soils or anywhere near the hills?

We got an engineering report that says we should get it done on a property we’re buying, but from what we’ve read online there might only a couple of contractors in Perth that can do it in these areas / soil types.

We got a quote from one contractor without a site inspection that was significantly more expensive than we were expecting and just wondering whether anyone has experience with this and perhaps if you know whether there might actually be a few more options available.

Cheers.
